Good lense for the money
So far I like the lens a lot. I am an amateur photographer, and the main reason I bought this lens was for macro photos. I am still learning, but I am impressed by 1:1 magnification. The only downside is that for a real macro shot you have to get really close to the object because it is only 30mm. On the other hand, for the price and availability for Lumix, it is probably the best option.

Great General Purpose Lens with Close-Focus
Ive used this lens a lot over the past 2 months. In fact, its been my main lens on my Panasonic G7 camera. This is a very nice lens, and lets you get in nice and close to whatever you are photographing. Ive enjoyed it quite a bit, and have to admit Im still learning good macro technique to use with this lens. However, as far as MACRO uses are concerned, I think I would get a longer focal length if I were to do this all over again. I knew the... Show More

Great for the price
I waited about 3 months and a few hundred shots before reviewing this lens. While it wont win any awards (at the price who would ever think it would), what it will give you is a solid macro lens on a camera system that thanks to its quirks is actually great for macro. The OIS seems to work quite well when using it as a non-macro lens and the image quality is better than I expected for the price. As with other OIS lenses you get some odd noises wh... Show More

Great for ecologists!
I wanted a macro lens but I didn't want something so tight on the subject that I couldn't also get a photo of the habitat without changing a lens or camera- and this has been great. Super sharp, the only criticisms I have with it is that it didn't come with a lens hood and it hunts for focus on autofocus sometimes. When it hunts I just throw it into manual and stop being so darn lazy which it does an great job at and I probably should have done t... Show More

very sharp
Have only had about 1 week but happy with pictures rendered with this lens. The OIS on this as far as I can tell is pretty good as I can hand hold down to .5 of a sec. I will refer back to this lens once I get more camera time with this lens under my belt.

Seriously awesome lens
It sees your subject matter with great clarity, color, and sharpness. Light enough to work on a GH4 using a 3 axis gimbal for video work, and the macro capability makes ultra close up art shots a breeze. OIS works well, too. Love what this lens allows me to do. Would highly recommend it.

Amazingly sharp
The sharpness of the optics, the dual-IS, and overall design produced profoundly sharp results. I would recommend this lens even without the macro. It is as sharp as any lens I have used on the GH5.

Great lens to have in the aresenal.
I use this for close up product shots. The clarity of this lens is excellent. I also find myself leaving this lens on the camera for general use due to its clarity. This is a lens I wish I had bought much sooner.

Everything as expected
Use it alone or with stacked extenders. Is very nice in ease and performance. Everything I expected and a price I could afford.

An excellent all-around 30mm lens ....
30mm is my favorite walk-around lens for MFT. I like a little compression, especially for portraits. I agonized over the Panasonic 30 2.8 micro and the new Sigma 30mm 1.4 lens. I ordered the Sigma lens but returned it after a few test shots; too many artifacts and purple fringing. The Panasonic lens passed testing with crystal clear shots (yes, I am a pixel peeper at 14x). Losing two f/stops doesn't bother me, especially given the multi-stop stab... Show More

Excellent Macro M4/3 Lens
Their are few M 4/3 options for a macro lens. This one is fairly compact and also a useful focal length (Equivalent to 60'' full frame) compared to the Olympus 60mm 2.8.

I love this macro
I had never had a Macro lens for video, it is more; He never knew existed. Desque I am using DSLR to record video, I have sought to improve the results offered lenses that come in the kit. For a long time I was reluctant to invest in bright F2.8 lens, but once I had one in my hands I realized that are the best that one can have and no matter the cost, the difference warrants. When looking lenses with 2.8, I discovered there was this 30mm Macro, w... Show More

More than adequate
If you obsess over the word Leica, then save your nickels and dimes and get the Leica-branded 45mm macro instead. However, if you're just looking for a macro that performs very well, at a very reasonable price, then this is your lens. The 30mm focal length (effective 60mm with the MFT crop) focused at 1:1 ratio (life-size) leaves precious little room for supplemental lighting, but there are ways to achieve it. Outdoors in full sunlight, I suggest... Show More

Haven't really used it yet--took this shot for the review--what I like is it is light weight and close focusing, colors are true to life Will be easy to use when I go hiking don't really plan to shoot bugs and stuff that's why I only got this focal length, wanted the lighter weight, love the bokeh

Excellent for transparency copying
I have been adapting other lenses to my Lumix GH4 for my transparency copying needs. Enlarger lenses - a trusty Micro-Nikkor, etc. This lenses is the best I've used. I get better detail in the shadows, better color - and of course, it has auto-focus which is handy for speed. It is also a flat-field lenses as far as I can tell tho they don't claim it.

Glorious macro/general purpose lens
This lens is my favorite gear purchase for quite some time. I have been using an adapted Nikon 60mm Macro 2.8 for more than a year, and it has worked pretty well, though it is quite specialized. Manual focus wasn't a problem on the Nikkor, because that is arguably the best way to use a macro. I enjoyed using it for portraiture, because you can get as close as you want and the defocused background looks pretty unique. But a 120mm equivalent makes ... Show More

Smart, Light and Easy
Some of the best photographs with my Pentax system were taken with a Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 macro, so I was happy to see Panasonic offer this lens, purchased as soon as the budget permitted. Because it is not a heavyweight item, I was easily able to carry it with two other lenses on a visit to Juneau, Alaska. I used it for the first time on a hike there and was not disappointed. The close-focus objects were sharp and bright; the wide-angle scenes we... Show More

Excellent and so small!
I started to build my 4/3 system 2 years ago with a GM1 that I bought to complement my Nikon D800 (with the f/1.4 Nikon primes) and my Leica M9 (with the 21/35/50/75 Leica primes). I was so impressed by my results, that I quickly expended with a GM5, and the Panasonic/Leica lenses 15mm and 42.5, both amazing. I was looking forward for a high end Pana/Leica offering in the 20-30mm range that would have the manual aperture setting, but this did not... Show More
