Game changer or not, this is one amazing
I have used many Panasonic professional cameras. MII, first DVCpro 25 during Atlanta Olympic games in 1996, first P2 ENG cameras, HVX200, purchased HMX150 and HPX370. I rented a GH4 as a second camera to my HPX370. GH4 looked amazing. The quality coming out of this camera is pure nuts. After long research, I bought mine with Metabones speedbooster. I had Nikon lenses so I got MFT to Nikon. This camera is not a still camera that can shoot video.. ... Show More

Better Than Expected
Personally, I was worried about switching from Canon to Lumix 4/3. But I have been pleasantly surprised and will not be switching back. Many complaints I heard of this camera actually turned out to be false in my experience: Such as short battery life - Complete Lie. I LOVE this thing! I can literally shoot ALL day in 4K video and just barely run out of battery at the end of an 8 hour shoot. Obviously videographers will keep more than one battery... Show More

Moved from Canon 7D
I purchased this camera to replace my Canon 7D. I mostly shoot video but I do shoot a decent amount of photos as well. I found that the GH4 is a beast when it comes to video - it blows my 7D out of the water in overall image quality and dynamic range. On the other hand, I'm finding it difficult to capture captivating photos with this camera. It may be that I'm still getting the hang of this new camera system (only been using it regularly for abou... Show More

The best 4K option today!
I use this camera mainly for video, filming commercials and corporate projects.I come from Canon and decided not to abandon my 5D Mark II completely. I still keep it for stills and as a backup camera. Needless to say I don't use it much anymore. I bought the Panasonic 12-35mm and it works a charm with the GH4. So many pro features I can finally take advantage of, this is amazing, how did I manage before?I love the 4K, the slowmo (96fps) and small... Show More

Great Value; Wonderful Camera
I just graduated from film school and purchased the GH4 to shoot weddings and real estate videos, as well as my own personal short films. This camera is absolutely amazing. I love the ability to shoot 4K and 96fps (1080p) for such a great price. I've been raised off of the cannon 7D and 5DIII and I love the transition to panasonic. Micro 4/3s has a cool choice selection in lenses, and I can't believe how small and light the lenses are. There are ... Show More

Excited by the possibilities
This new 4K platform from Panasonic is simply packed full of features and great performance. It is intelligently layed out and the articulating flip-out LCD has the most amazing resolution giving you access to all the critical settings and functions. Because of its small size and low profile, be aware that when using a tripod, the bottom of the lens almost touches your mounting plate making it so that when using the focusing and zoom rings on the... It's a great system replacement for my Canon DSLR camera, supperior image quality. a lot smaller great system when you travel that you don't have to carry bulky and heavy equipment. Take note,This camera is a lot smaller than your regular DSLR, so plaese don't complain about the unit is too small on your hand, all unit come's with one battery and charger for those who complain about the battery and your trying to use your old lens. Outstanding Hybrid Camera
I am so far completely satisfied with the GH4. I use the camera for nature/fine art stills and accompanying video for a number of projects. This is the first hybrid camera I have used that delivers very high quality with a fairly user friendly work flow. Stills are razor sharp if you're using half way decent glass, capture color accurately, and allow you to print large. The video of course is the headline story, and 4K is indeed wonderful for cap... Transition to DSLR may be difficult
I'm a professional videographer and I've always used a professional video camera. This is my first DSLR for video and there is a learning curve. That said, it's a wonderful camera. The footage is beautiful and it has features that are only found, I'm told, on the highest-priced cameras, like touching the screen for focus. That is wonderful. And, of course, there's the 4K.But again, if your focus is video, it's not as easy to use -- at least out o... Show More

WOW
I am a professional photographer who was frustrated with the inability for DSLRs to properly focus for video. I have been following the micro 4/3 cameras for a while but I did not make the plunge. I have been waiting for Nikon to come out with a quality video camera. I gave in and purchased the GH4 because the GH3 already did great video and the GH4 is better by all reviews I have read. All I can say is WOW. I am very impressed with the capabilit... Show More

Almost Perfect. Best Bang for Your Buck
Obviously no camera is perfect, but this one is close to it. You really do get the best bang for your buck. The internal 4k is beautiful. The image is so sharp I actually had to turn the sharpness down -5 in the settings. This camera is capable of VFR (Variable Frame Rate), but I wouldn't shoot at anything less than 60fps. The image quality does drop significantly at 96fps. Rolling shutter sucks, but that's every still body camera. The flip out t... Show More

Fantastic Camera, mostly
I'm only giving 4 stars because I'm 57 and my eyes are not what they once were, and it seems camera manufacturers don't care about older shooters. I use the two I purchased mainly as video cameras. We are starting to do more and more with 4K, and the focus assist on these suck. Focus assist is not accurate. Also, AF on non-Lumix lenses doesn't work. Why? On the Blackmagic cameras I just sold off, I could put any lens on it an AF worked great. Tha... Show More

Yes yes yes.
If you're looking at this camera, you know what you're going to get...and I guess if you don't, then buy it and be surprised. ONLY gripes: WiFi connectivity with my iphone makes me want to punch small, even adorable, things in the face. Sure, I eventually get it working as it should. But this is a compliment to my persistence and technical savvy...not the panasonic geniuses that decided this functionality was good enough. Also... If you're expect... Show More

all you could want
this camera is a dream come true. After so many years of having to compromise, this camera really includes everything I want in a hybrid video/photo camera. I use it professionally for video and privately for photos. It is small enough to carry around and travel with, and yet includes it all. 4K video looks awesome, focus peaking is finally available as well as variable frame rate. Great Bundle!
So I ordered this for personal video projects because I've heard nothing but good things about this camera. Everything about the camera feels great and well made, it's a lighter build but that doesn't sacrifice the quality of how this camera feels. The features are another thing that I absolutely love, from the 4K and Variable Frame Rate to the without lens shooting and zebra stripes this camera covers everything I need. GH4 is a video workhorse! Getting it done is what counts.
I've been using this GH4 for a few years and my workflow is predominately 1080P, even when I shoot 4k. On paper this seemingly old and unexciting camera may appear to be lacking, but nothing can be further from the truth. I've had others complain about their overheating Sony cameras and complain about their Canon's...and then of course the monetary investment in those systems is substantial. Certainly on paper they talk a big game, but when you n... Show More

Great Camera, Great Price.
Love the camera, for the price I don't have a complaint in the world. Just do yourself a favor and don't compare it to cinema cameras that are +10k, or even 5k. You get what you pay for, and although I don't forsee shooting any feature films on this one anytime soon... It's a good camera to have in your bag. I've even used it as a B cam and was fine with that. The real quality footage comes from outputting via HDMI to the Odyssey 7Q or the Atomos... Show More

Lumix DMC-GH4 -Great Cam!
I purchased the camera specifically for video! Used it for the first time to film the women's cycling land speed record on the 12th of Sept, 2016 at the Bonneville Speed Week in Utah(which was 147mph!--mind you that's on a bicycle). I'll say it was really hard to use the viewfinder on the bright salt flats of Bonneville--either had to be covered with a blackout cloth or preset and shoot at f8 or f11 to make sure everything was in focus--I used it... This is an absolutely amazing camera, for the money you can't do any better. I use it primarily for video, and the functionality is fantastic. The flexibility in terms of lens possibilities is great. I was in the pre-order pounce position until this baby arrived. I haven't taken a single picture on it as I'm using it for video; so, keep that in mind; but from a video perspective the 4K or the HD 200mbs resolution is incomparable! I had to buy a Tiffen Diffusion filter to address the crazy amount of sharpness on faces.... ends up being too sharp for female figures... but I mean, hey, this is a problem I rather have! Like many, I am mostly interested in the gh4 for video. I am a photographer shooting mostly Nikon, but have longed for higher frame rates for video. I received my gh4 on April 29th and I must say that early indications point to an excellent video and still camera. The GUI is straight forward with touch screen control in addition to dials and menus. I must admit that the evf viewfinder isn't as nice as a good optical viewfinder to me, but isn't ba... Show More

surpassed my expectations
I bought this camera for many reasons, 4K being toward the bottom of the list. What sold me was the 96 fps slow motion, the 10-bit 4:2:2 hdmi output, focus peaking/zebras, and the much higher bitrates. However, I had the chance last night to use it in a very low light concert. I can't even beging to describe how detailed the 4k image is in low light (iso800). The noise has an extremely fine grain and the Cinema D profile preserves vastly more dyn... Show More
