Takes Great Images

Apr 13, 2015

This is my first experince using prime lenses, and I am sold! I am very happy with the images I am getting with this lens. I like how small and light it is on the camera, even if it does feel a cheeper plastic feel. The lens hood is nice to have as well, although it makes it difficult getting the lens cap on.

Tiny performer

Apr 12, 2015

Strong, light, great performance. For those that prefer primes, this could be your everyday lens on m43. Doesn't review as strongly as the Panasonic 25mm f/1.4, but at the time of this review, the Oly retails for 40% less, weights 30% less, and is 25% shorter. Both lenses have their place.

Excellent lens

Mar 20, 2015

I have been using the 25mm f/1.8 along with the 45mm f/1.8, 12-40mm II R, 40-150mm f/4-5.6, and 9-18mm F/4-5.6 and this is probably my favorite of the group. It's focal length is great for shooting all kinds of situations. The lens body feels solid, the focus ring is smooth, and the images produced with this lens on an E-M10 are the best of the group mentioned above. It is also the only lens of the group that is made in Japan. The others were mad... Show More

A beautiful perspective

Mar 18, 2015

I am a big fan of the Olympus MFT primes. This is my fourth one and I'm as pleased with it as I am with any so far. It is as sharp as I could hope for and renders colors beautifully. At this price, I got mine during a promotion, it can not be beat by any other MFT lens. The focal length lends itself well to distant landscapes an portraits. Olympus put a sturdy plastic case around this one, I'd rather metal. but they made up for it somewhat by supplying a lens hood. I am very pleased with the lens and I'm sure anyone else would be as well

Light & Bright!

Mar 2, 2015

This not only squeezes the most light out of a shot for me, it really lightens the load! I had been carrying my 12-40mm PRO around on my EM-1 as my most utilitarian lens, which it is, but now I feel like I can take the camera out as a fast, lightweight street shooter and have a little more fun. And who doesn't need at least one f1.8 prime?

M.Zuiko Digital 25mm f/1.8 Lens

Jan 29, 2015

This lens is very sharp. It works perfectly. It is just what I wanted and expected. I like the 25mm on my 4/3 Olympus e-m10. The included reversable lens hood is a nice thing to have.

Awesome Lens - Build quality though...

Jan 26, 2015

The lens itself in the act of actual photography is quick, the bokeh is buttery smooth and the AF is as silent as can be, and Olympus including a lens hood is a nice bonus as well. However, the plasticky outer shell definitely leaves something to be desired - after only a few weeks I've already got dings and dents into the plastic outer casing - not that it affects the actual performance. If I were to buy this again I would think about grabbing the black model - blemishes to the plastic would probably be hidden better.

A get out and take photos kind of lens

Dec 2, 2014

Wanted a small, light, high quality lens with a normal field of view. Looked at the few that are available. The PL looked great but I did not want to spend the $$. On my Olympus em1 the M.Zuiko 25mm meets all of my requirements. Its small, light. On the em1 it almost disappears. It focuses fast in dim light. In near dark, not so much.It is sharp. No issue with sharpness, out of focus areas look smooth. Included lens hood works well, have to remove a... Show More

Fantastic Lens!!

Nov 18, 2014

I recently purchased the Olympus Omd EM1 and so far have two lenses for it.. The Olympus 45mm f1.8 and the Olympus 25mm f1.8... I must say that I really love them both! Sharp, fast, beautiful images. They really excel in low light situations and the bokeh is delicious.. Highly recommend!

You could shave with this Puppy

Nov 12, 2014

I have used Oly cameras and lenses for 30 years, and only recently, reluctantly, switched to digital. I have some of the really good 4/3 lenses that I used with adapters, but I wanted something small and light, but not toylike, for travel. I took a chance with this guy, and (sob) when I made 8 x 10 prints, using my OM-D EM-5 (stupid name; why isn't it the EM-1, and why did the EM-5 come before the EM-1?),the prints were as sharp as anything I mad... Great glass!

Aug 16, 2014

I wanted to add a prime lens to my E-M5 before going on vacation and this was the perfect thing. Shots are consistently excellent from many distances; up close it can produce some razor-sharp detail with nice bokeh, and from a distance it provides clear, even coverage.Whites are brilliant and colors translate as expected; I've had to do very little post-processing in Lightroom. The only downside is occassionally slow AF in low-light situations.Highly recommended!

Great Value for Money

Jul 14, 2014

My current kit includes a 75 MM F 1.8 and a 12-40 pro. Although they do the job extremely well, I was stuck in situations where I wanted the shallow depth of field to not be too shallow. I tried achieving that with a 12-40 Pro, however, I felt I was unable to get the desired effect. This lens is fast, compact, provides sharp pictures and is generally the lens I leave on the camera on most times. I was tempted to get the Panasonic 25 MM F 1.4, but... Show More

Excellent lens, size, weight vs Panny's

Jun 13, 2014

I already owned the PL 25F1.4 when I ordered this (I got a deal I couldn't refuse). I've since sold it after just a few weeks for a net profit, but it's a fantastic lens. If I hadn't had the Panaleica, I would have surely kept it as a mainstay. Both lenses are great, and you are probably wondering how they compare. To most eyes the differences are minimal. Output is similar and both are great IQ and nice Bokeh. You'd have a hard time telling them ... Show More

I've used the Lumix/Leica 25/1.4 as well as this lens. The Olympus focuses faster and is considerably smaller. It also has a reversable hood, unlike the Leica. I find they're both good in terms of sharpness even at wide apertures.

Great sharp little lens

May 11, 2014

I use this as I used a 50mm lens back in the day. the sharpness of this lens is very good even wide open in the center. I've mainly used it so far for people pictures so i've not pixel peeped the corners. I did do a few test shots. The corner sharpness is quite good by f4.0. Build quality is quite good for a lens at this price point.

Great lens for the beginner

May 7, 2014

I own an Olympus E-M5 and the kit 12-50mm lens. That's a fine lens, but it's a little slow (it's 3.5-6.3 aperture), and I decided to get this lens (the 25mm) as my second lens and first prime on the system, after extensive comparisons with the Panasonic-Leica 25mm. I've used this lens almost exclusively since then and have taken a couple hundred pictures with it, and I love almost everything about it. Especially in tandem with the E-M5, the size ... Show More
