Good alternative to external Mac DVD drive

I use this as an DVD burner with my 2010 MacBook Pro. The internal DVD stopped working. I soon will have to upgrade my laptop. I wanted a drive that would work both with my current Macbook and with a new one. The new Mac external drive won't work with my older Mac.

I don't know if 5-star mean exceptional product since this is a plain DVD/CD driver. And it just works. The design is nice and sleek. But the sharp corner doesn't match my Yoga 900 ultrabook. What I really like is the cable which came with the drive. It is a split with one male and one female USB port.
