A Keeper
I purchased this lens after receiving a defective Distagon T* FE 35mm f/1.4 ZA Lens (out of focus on the right edge). The Sonnar T* 35mm f/2.8 ZA is a real pleasure to mount on the Sony a7rII. It is exceptionally light and seems like a perfect match for the camera. The mount fit is appropriately snug. Image sharpness is stellar from f/2.8 and up. Autofocus is nearly silent and very accurate. Unfortunately it doesn't have an external manual/auto f... Show More

Best purchase!
It is very small and light. It is also extremely sharp. Finally, I like the width it provides, perfect for a walk around lens. It is actually an excellent lens that I would strongly recommend to anybody. It's on my camera since I bought it!

Good, practical lens.
Good for everyday street photography, portraits. Excellent auto focus, nice color. Good size.

Great lens for its size. For the price, I guess so.
The main reason I got an A7RII was the smaller size, and this lens definitely keeps the overall package very compact. It is amazing for travel. The lens itself is great - very sharp and super small. Quality and portability are amazing but, for the price (nearly $800 when I bought it)... I'm not sure if it's worth it.

Sharp and compact, but that's about it
What I like: - Extremely small and lightweight. The smallest full frame FE lens on the market. With this lens on I can fit my A7rii in a large coat pocket. - I found the lens sharp, even wide open - Build quality is very good. Manual Focus ring is knurled and a good resistance. - Quick Autofocus - Lens hood is clever and only adds to its compact design What I dont like: - Awfully expensive for a prime lens that is not very fast (only 2.8) and doe... Great Compact Lens for A7 Cameras
What I like: Light, super small and compact. When placed on my A7rii, the entire camera and lens fit into the palm of my hand. Easily fits in a large coat pocket or small bag. 35mm is a good focal length for travel and street photography. I found it a little short for portraits, but there is so much resolution, cropping still yields very detailed photos. I found the lens very sharp, even wide open. Color and tone of photos is very pleasing. I was... Show More

Happy Together
I purchased this one to replace my 1.8 E 35mm because of moving to a full format body. So far, I'm very pleased with the lens. It is sharp and oh so light. Will wait to develop pix on a full screen before opining on vignetting and bokeh.

Compact lens for everyday shooting
Love this lens for street photography. It's light and compact, making it super easy to take photos on my way to work. I've noticed some pretty severe vignetting--though it was easily removed in Lightroom.

Excellent build, sharp images and perfect for travel
My go-to 35mm lens is a manual focus Zeiss Loxia f/2, but for a compact, lightweight, auto-focus alternative for travel and street photography, you can't beat the Sony Sonnar FE 35mm f/2.8 lens. As others have noted, there can be slight vignetting and/or distortion in some situations, but these are easily correctible with the available Adobe Lightroom profile. The Sony 35mm 2.8 build quality is quite good and very similar to the excellent Sony FE... Show More

Nice compact lens
I chose this particular lens to go with the Sony a7 because it's small, lightweight and weather sealed. Great for carrying around my neck while riding my bicycle. I haven't used it enough to rate it 5 stars.

Just what the doctor ordered.
The a7Rll's version of a pancake lens. It's excellent for it's intended purpose which is a small capable walk around lens for this camera and it's affordable.

Beautiful
This lens is great. I use it on a Sony A7rii and love it. It's a bit overpriced, especially considering it's 2.8, but once you see the images it's hard to say no, especially if you want to buy into the Sony ecosystem. I was previously shooting with Canon and Sigma lenses (which I also love) adapted to the Sony with the Sigma MC-11 adapter, which is woefully underrated. I did however desire to switch to Sony lenses to get all of the focus features and the lightning fast focus speed, which has been a game changer. If you're willing to dish out on Sony's premiums I'd highly recommend the lens.

The best lens your money can buy!
I bought this lens two weeks ago. I could not be happier! Great product. The best lens I've ever owned. I use this lens for traveling, social media, and blogging. It's very compact for a full frame camera, unlike common DSLR lens. The image quality is stunning. I researched the best lens for the Sony A7ii for over a year and this one can up on top ever time. This is the only lens I own for the A7ii and it'll be that way for some time. Fantastic lens!

This is a great little lens. The optics are great and the AF works well. The lens profile in ACR is very good.

Wait, where is it?
Love this little lens on my A7SM2. It feels like its barely there. Shoots sharp, light and definitely a must for your Sony Mirrorless.

Such a fantastic lens!
The lens produces crisp and sharp pictures. The color is amazingly colorful. It is very small and light when mounted on my A7. The downside of this lens is a price which seems to be quite expensive. Anyway, I recommend to everyone who uses any A7 series cameras.

Exactly what I was looking for
A great street photo lens. Very sharp. Fast. But best of all it is TINY. A7II with this fits in many of my pockets.

5-Star Lens
This is a 5-star lens all the way. Don't listen to the arm-chair photographers who would rather peek at graphs and charts and view images at 100% on a computer monitor. I've used many 35mm focal length lenses in my photography career, and this lens is up there with offerings from Leica and bests some of the other big names--especially when paired with the Sony sensor. It's stunningly sharp, tiny, light, well made and a sheer pleasure to use on th... Show More

great lightweight lens
I use this for video mostly with Sony A7Rii. Especially good when using a gimble because of its lightweight. I have the Distagon for still photography which is a superior lens but much much heavier and the two lenses end up serving different purposes for me.

the lens that can do it all
i will always love my Canon L lenses, but this little gem is the most persuasive challenge i have seen to the proverbial caveat that no one lens can do it all. It has become my go walk around lens for street shots, landscape, close-ups and just about anything i have thrown at it. bright spectacular images and you can crop these to your heart's content. i have just taken a cliche shot of my newest nephew at standard distance of about 8 feet and the head of this little guy crops up to filling the frame with a bright and crystal sharp image. Did i mention how small and light it is?
