Fine all-purpose travel lens
Purchased to replace the nearly-useless kit lens that comes with the Sony A350. Lens is fast focusing and clear. For many people who shoot travel and basic portrait shots, this is the only lens needed. Its zoom range is quite respectable, and its widest setting is wide enough for most indoor shots. If you pair this with the 11-18 DT lens and a good shoe flash, a few filters and a good case, you will have a reasonably affordable, compact outfit.

Nice SHARP lens
I ordered this lens after reading reviews that it was much sharper than Sony's 18-200 f3.5-5.6. I've just finished a head to head comparison at 100% crop, admittedly very challenging, and found it astonishingly sharp. It's the lens I've been looking for the last two years. With the assistance of the flash, it focuses in an almost totally dark room in about three seconds; also a big improvement. So what's bad about it? It costs money?

What a fantastic lens
I got this lens as my second lens for my alpha 350 that came with the 18-70mm lens. This lens is everything that was and much more! Fantastic zoom and quick aperture make this lens a must for any photographer. I take photos for my college newspaper and have been in photography for a few years now and this lens is what I wish I have had for years! Shooting for sporting events couldn't be any easier with this fantastic product.

I would buy this product again
The 18-250 lens is a nice addition to the a700 that i purchased. It is far lighter than I expected it to be. Zoom creep is not an issue with this as it is tight when changing focul lengths. The built in lock is not needed while walking around but useful when attaching and removing lens from body. I have been quite pleased with the lens and it is quite lighter than my nikon mount sigma 18-200 dc/os lens.

Awesome lens
Using this lens with my new A57 gives me crips results at all focal lengths and good exposures. I had tried the Tamron 18-270 pzd and it was softer compared to this lens at 250mm. I could have had a bad copy as I have used that model lens in the past and it was always sharp at long zooms, I just couldn't get it to gell with my a57. So I switched to the Sony 18-250, problem solved! Great lens!

awesome lens
definitely worth the money on this lens. i put it on a Sony A57. wasn't interested in the 'packages' where you could get the camera and two separate lenses, an 18-55 and a ??-300. did not want to swap a lens just for a longer zoom shot. had a 10x zoom on my old camera and didn't want to settle for any less. saw a review for this lens saying it was best all-purpose lens and totally agree.

Good walkarounder when you want only one
This is a great all-rounder - with excellent range similar to a P&S ultrazoom. It has very good color, focuses quickly, and is a great compact size. It's a little bit soft at the wide end with wide open apertures...gets quite sharp once stopped down. Minor purple fringing in high-contrast shots at full tele. Overall, a terrific bargain and great lens when you can only take one with you.

Good walking around lens
I just purchased this lens. I intend on using it for day trips and other circumstances where it is challenging to constantly be changing my lens'. I do not think this will replace any of my current lens whether they be wide angle or zoom but a good compliment to the ones I already own. I also like that it is fairly light in weight and will not weigh me down carrying it around all day.

Very good all round performance
This is a very good all round performer. Very compact, fast AF, crisp pricture & light weight. Very good in good light conditions though bit of focus hunting in low light but that is natural for long zoom lens like this. Also, a bit of visible barrel distortion at wide angle but, this could be very well corrected via softwares. All round this rates very well against it's competitors.

Real Nice Lens
Leave your kit lenses at home. No schlepping necessary! You have an all in one with this baby. Great clarity, very responsive and quick to focus. Doesn't drift under it's own weight. Nice solid investment. My only issue is that it is a little slow 3.5 - 6.3, but that is pretty common with digital zoom len's at this price point/level. Other than that, this is a winner.

Even better on the Sony a99 full frame.
An excellent travel/walk-around lens that produces remarkable results when stopped down to f8 or below. Bought for my Sony a55, I was stunned to see results on my Sony a99 full-frame producing SUPERIOR results at least in the tested f8-f16 range (who says its is incompatible?). Wider apertures at longer focal length are soft. Given price, it is a must have lens.

Nice general use travel lens
Nice lens for travelling. Good range from wide angle to telephoto. Lightweight, but seems well constructed. Seems a little stiff when zooming, but may be as it is new. Photos shot so far are sharp. Expertise: Hobbyist Problems Encountered: None so far. Previous Equivalent Item Owned: Nothing equivalent as a single lens Items I Recommend: Circular polarizer

Good all purpose lens
I used this lens on a recent trip to northern Arizona and it was great. Its range worked for telephotos in Canyon de Chelly and wide angles in the Grand Canyon and Antelope Canyon. The manual focus is a pleasure to use compared to the kit lens. I didn't notice any problems at either end of its range. In dusty conditions it great not to have to change lens.

Very good all around lens!
Purchased to take on a trip to California--San Francisco and Yosemite. It was GREAT not to have to switch between lens'. I take lotz of shots in our backyard of birds, butterflies...nature in general and it is also perfect for this application. Our children are older so once in a while I can sneak in a shot from away that they don't even know I took.

Good Zoom Range
Pros: Nice wide zoom range 18-250mm can cover just about everything on a crop sensor camera. Auto Focus works well Cons: Minimum Aperture range is quite limiting. Not the best lens for low-light photography. Overall: Good all round lens, don't have to keep switching lens, but definitely not a lens to use for indoor events like wedding photography.

Just what I was looking for
For too long I suffered with poor glass on my old KM 5D. After upgrading to the A700, the old lenses were just not good enough. I have been happy with my choice. It did not break my wallet but at the same time gives me a quality I had not seen in my previous kit. I love having the wide to telephoto capability for use as a general walk-around lens.

Perfect lens!
Recently at a concert, I would have to change my camera lens for distance and then again with close-up photos. Miss out on some photos during the change out process. No more of that! You can go from distance to close up without the fumble of lens change. This lens is lighter than previous panoramic lens.

Good all-in-one lens
I am a relative novice, however, this lens has increased my ability to take close up shots, without having to back up; and also gave me more distance on my long range shots, without having to switch lenses. Great lens for vacations and all around shooting with kids and the family.

Excellent Lens
I have had this lens for 13 years and used it on the A-100, A-33, A-350, A-65, A-77, & A-77M2 quite extensively and have never experienced any problems of any kind so dont know what the cause of problems are. Infact I have another one of this lens on order again. Love it.

Excellent Lens
I've only used this lens for a short while but so far I really like. The pictures have good quality to them and it's a great walk around lens. Going from 18mm to 250mm gives you a lot of versatility. I only wish it was a bit lighter thus the 4 star rating instead of 5.

Good travel lens
I bought a Sony A300 camera along with this Lens month ago before my trip to Florida. The lens focus fast and performed very well outdoor during my trip. This lens not perform as well under indoor or low light condition, I guess this is expected for super-zoom lens.

Excelllent!
Have had this lens about four months and am very happy. Images are sharp, color really pops and it is easy to use. Just a great all-around general carry lens. Sure, it would be nice if it was faster, but that would add lots of weight. Very happy with the purchase.

Very Good Autofocus and sharp lens
This is a good carry along lens. Sharp with quick autoficus and very well built. The range makes it a good all purpose lens. I have taken many pictures with this especially of birds in flight and most of them have come out sharp and with great colors and contrast.

Very good lens!!
Bought this for my Sony a200. The image quality is very crisp. Far better than the 18-70mm kit lens that came with the camera. The auto focus is fast, though I haven't used it on fast action subjects yet just some slowly ambling black bears. Well worth the price.
