More versatile than expected
After using this 10-18 mm lens for about half a year now, this one is a winner! My photos mainly record travel and events with kids, not attempts at serious art photography for display. Good but pricey lens
Before this lens became available, the only way to do wide-angle shots using e-mount Sony lenses was to start with their 16mm pancake lens and then attach either their ultra wide converter to get 12mm, or their fisheye converter to get 10mm. Price-wise, either combination makes sense, costing about $ less than the new 10-18 wide-angle zoom. Okay for 4k, not okay for photo..
Im a nikon full frame guy, so to me switching to sony crop is a bit awkward, but Im doing this only for video capabilities of a6500 and the features it gives you with its native optics. From that perspective the setup is pretty good, despite the rolling shutter in 4k and the horrible pixel binning in FHD (shame on you Sony!), the video is quite good, AF on this lens is fast, responsive and precise, OSS is also amazing. Great wide angle
This is one of my favorite lenses for my A6500. There arent many options for a wide angle zoom for APS-C e-mount and considering the price compared to a full frame lens at twice the price this produces some terrific quality photos. Its not without its caveats though. barrel distortion is pretty obvious and vignetting can get bad on occasion. lightroom RAW corrections help but it still shows somewhat. Good Choice for Travel Photos
A wide-angle zoom lens, to me, is a specialized tool for travel photos. I purchased this 10-18mm /f4 for that purpose and I am not disappointed in it at all. It focuses quickly and accurately, having decent sharpness and contrast over the entire image, and it incorporates vibration reduction. Ultra Wide and fisheye is where the mirrorless systems really shine - obviously it seems to be much easier (and cheaper) to build good wide angle lenses for shorter lens flange/sensor distance. The (in my view totally outstanding) Rokinon/Samyang 8/2.8 Fisheye for NEX and the excellent 10-18 Sony both prove it. A surprisingly versatile lens, worth the money.
This lens is a wonderful surprise. First I balked at what seemed to be a high price for this type of glass. I was comparing it to my 18-55mm kit lens which was about half the price. I bought a Rokinon 12mm instead, at first, because it was less expensive and, even within its limitations, would probably do the trick. But I was mistaken. Very Strong Image Quality
So far I've only tested this lens at f/8 on a tripod - but that is how I will use it. With my copy the lens is sharp in the middle of the frame at all focal lengths. The best performance is at 12mm where it is excellent in terms of image quality with strong performance across almost the entire frame on the a6000. I shoot an NEX 7. I have several Sony lenses. I've come to realize that I like shooting wide. On a recent trip to Spain I carried the 24MM, 50MM and 16MM with the wide converter. I shoot NEX7, NEX6, NEX5N. Have used all the SONY E and most A lenses and legacy Leica 135, Nikon 50, Nikon 105, Nikon 180, Canon 35, Minolta 50, Sony macro 100, Voigtlander 15, etc. I have to do lots of fast street shooting, quick video, and need a small camera to not disrupt the subjects. I have a variety of wide angles including Sigma and Nikon, I could use them with an adapter, but wanted a native AF wide angle, I have both Nex7 and A7,, so, this lens interested me, one lens for both cameras, and wow,,, effectively a 15-27 on the cropped sensor, and really is a 13 to around 16 on the full frame. The size, weight, and overall quality of this lens is just about perfect. Really good image quality across the frame with the corners already good wide open. Having OSS in a wide-angle zoom is surprisingly useful when using the lens handheld. SUPER for video
This little thing looks deceiving, it packs a punch above its weight. To some the amount of plastic materials using in it's construction might be negative. For me that is a huge advantage. I am able to use this lens on a very small 3 axis gimbal (MS1) with both A7RII and A7SII. The best 4K video quality from the R model is in S35 mode, making the 10-18mm lens the best wideangle option. Best landscape Lens for A6000 very sharp
You have two options for doing landscapes with the A6000 - this lens and the 16-70mm Ziess Zoom lens. I like that this lens is smaller than the Zoom lens and allows you to do true wide shots. Colors are not vivid with this lens, but the images are really sharp. OSS is a great feature for handheld shots. The down side is with a maximum aperture of F/4 is does not allow in enough light on cloudy days. While the zoom range would allow you to use this as a standard lens - you would be disappointed compared to a fast prime lens. Overall a great special purpose lens.

Ultra Wide Companion for A6000
This lens is perfect for travel & landscape shooting for the Sony A6000 covering 15-27mm. My copy is razor sharp in center and corners especially from f/5.6 to f/8. I love the perspective and color rendition. If positioned correctly distortion can be mimimized and kept in check using Lightroom lens profiles. Lens construction is solid and hood attaches securely. Autofocusing is spot on and manual focusing with peaking quick & reliable. Along with my 16-70 f/4 Zeiss & Sony 70-200 f/4 the trifecta combo covers 15-300mm in a light package.

Until it dies
I loved this lens...until it just died on me. From one da to another, safely stored in the camera bag, working fine to absolutely dead. Dead as in nothing functional. No connection to the camera, not even manual focus. Nothing. Sony took a few months trying to figure out the problem, replaced parts to no avail...adding up eventually to more than the lens cost me new. And then they offered to replace the lens...for the cost of a new one. Of course I laughed at them...and eventually they offered about 20% discount. No thanks.

Sharp wide lens
I used the 16mm pancake with the WA adaptor and the fisheye adaptor for years. Results were ok, but never amazing, always had to sharpen and tweak the RAW files. If you want the best image quality this lens is worth it, lens is very sharp!. Being able to run a filter and proper lens cap is a big deal as well over the WA adaptor, my lens was constantly smuged and got a lot of scratches on the outer coating. Also for some reason this lens gives a great "sunstar" at high apertures, another thing the conversion kits suck at.

A Great Lens for Landscapes
I recently purchased this wide-angle zoom for my Sony NEX-6 in preparation for a trip to Iceland. It's a great supplement to the camera's 16mm-50mm kit lens and gives me great opportunities for DHR landscapes and also some dramatic close-ujps. Focus seems crisp, with minimal distortion. This lens should help me capture the dramatic Icelandic landscape. A wider apperture would be a nice feature, but since I plan to use the lens mostly with a tripod, this is not a drawback. The lens is a bit heavy, but not too much so.
