Very Good Lens
I really like this one. It is sharp and quick to focus. You can shoot in very little light. You can have really shallow depth of field for portraits but be careful though: depth of field is very shallow at 1.4 and it takes some skill to make sure you nail the focus because the in focus area is so small at that aperture.

I regret not buying it much earlier....
Just got it and used it here and there. I consider myself an amateur. I did some test shots with my older tele lens and this one. Tack sharp pictures have been taken so far. Pretty amazing. As I said the only regret I have is not buying it earlier. Very good for portrait shots, indoor with low light conditions etc.

Great Product
I have a Sony a33 and this lens is an awesome addition to it. Moderately priced, and much better quality than the fairly cheap feeling lens' that come with the camera. Its action is super smooth, and focuses extremely quick. Gives dramatic focusing effects and works well in low light for action shots. Must have!

Fantastic Lens
Read many reviews on this lens glad i did, this is a fantastic lens for the price. I'm a novice, so for now i need to depend on other peoples reviews, and i beleive it averaged close to five stars. I've used this lens mostly inside and in automatic and all my pics have come out outstanding.

Great lens
I received the lens 2 weeks ago and so far nothing but good. I've just it daily outside and inside and the clarity is very good.Even with a CPL it is great to use on a minimum ISO.I have noticed quite a bit of chromatic distortion though through the lens.Overall very happy with the lens ...

Recommended!
This was recommended by my son who is also a photographer. It is perfect for low light situations such as concerts, parties, nightclubs, etc. where you do not want to distract with a flash. I was surprised at the crystal clearness and will get a huge amount of use out of it.

Nice Product for the money
The product works very well, there are some issues with autofocusing on similarly contrasted object but most of the time it works well. I love the 1.4 which gives great DOF work. The product seems cheaply made but i have no problems with it and love shooting with it.

Disappointed
Was disappointed with the lenses. Maybe it was just me but my pictures were blurry. Great for low light situations such as in a gym. All the other reviews said it was a fast lense but couldn't get it to do what I needed-fast imaging. Will stick with my 2.8 lense.

50mm Sony Lens
Great lens. Totally Automatic. But it makes you work for the good shuts. Which help you understand your camera more. You can get sme great close ups of almost anything. Just a great everyday lens. Have found any problems yet.

Amazing lens
I didn't realize how much I would like a 50 mm lens until I bought one. I don't use it at its 1.4 aperture but everything else gives me a nice sharp picture. I use it on an A7 with the Sony adapter and it's great.

Pleased with performance
I bought the lens because I take a lot of dim light pictures. Previously I missed a lot of shots because camera was unable to focus. With this lens that is no longer a problem. Build quality seems quite good.

Superb lens
Works like a champ on my A99, water resist for sure, fast and accurate. This lens is always on my camera, and it allows use of the 114 auto focus points. The quality is pro, solid as a rock.

still learning
I am still trying to learn how to take portraits without flash in artificial light. This lens is helping considerably. After I become more adept, I could likely give a more eloquent review!

Sony Nifty Fifty
Great lens, same as any 50mm, however this lens is focused with the camera body motor and does not have SSM. It is a bit noisy and slow. Great lens for Low light and portraits.

Well Worth The Extra 150
This lens is incredibly sharp, even stopped down to 1.4. At 1.4, the lens has a nice dreamy look to it similar to what you would find in legacy glass. Definitely a nice lens.

Great Lens
I really like this lens a lot. Haven't had any problems with it. The sharpness of the lens is great; puts my Sony 18-70mm DT lens to shame! The bokeh is also very nice.

A Must Have Lens

very good lens
excellent image quality and sharpness on APSC sensor camera. Very good color and contrast. Quite a pronounced chromatic aberation at F1.4 but almost gone at F2.8

Great Bang for your Buck!
What a great portrait shot lense. Takes accurate and impressive shots. The build quality isn't of the highest however the size and weight makes up for it.

Great Prime Lens
I use this lens with my A-850 all the time. It's fast, great focus, and great bokeh. I've been experimenting with HDR and this is the lens I use for that.

Wonderful Lens
The SAL050F14 50mm is a wonderful lens for weddings or low light photography. I can shoot at a faster shutterspeed which makes for sharper shots.
