Amazingly good, but LCD blacks out with polarized sunglasses
LCD screen goes totally black if you wear polarized sunglasses, a major annoyance. Aside from that, the pictures in the Intelligent Auto mode are amazingly good. The sharpness is the big attraction here. This is our fourth Panasonic long-zoom point-and-shoot, and this one beats them all. We were always disappointed with the lack of sharpness on our FZ-200. Our FZ-150 was sharper than the FZ-200. On sharpness, the FZ-1000 just blows the FZ-200 and... Show More

Just amazing
Owned the FZ1000 for 6 months now. It has introduced me to 4K video and Raw...(stills at 8mb from 4k video, done in the camera, amazing. And Raw conversion and tweaking in the camera, brilliant.) Focus is lightning quick, ergonomics are good, zoom range everything I wanted, stabilisation when shooting the long end, very good. I give it 5 stars but I would like to see it improved: F2.8 is not as good as my previous Canon which achieved F1.8, but d... Show More

Everything I expected and more
Bought this camera 4 months before a trip to Iceland. Took the time to learn many of the features and to get comfortable with the capabilities of the camera. Good thing I did, because the camera has so many settings, it takes a while to learn where to change the settings. This camera exceeded my expectations. In the film era, I had a Nikon F3, a fully manual top of the line SLR, with wide angle lens and telephoto zoom lens. I wanted a camera that... Show More

Gorgeous Viewfinder
I've had the FZ1000 less than a week, and I'm busy learning to use the excellent features it offers. I replaced a Nikon D7100 and lenses with this camera, to use mainly for nature/wildlife and stills and videos of our grandchildren at their various activities. I have done several videos of our Granddaughter at hockey practices, and they're crisp and clear, and run smoothly. I did 2 4K videos at the rink and grabbed 8mp stills from them, excellent... Almost the perfect camera
I cannot praise enough what a great job Panasonic did with this camera. Around the years, i owned and worked with various mirrorless and dslr cameras, but now, unless i want to do some really professional work, i don't need another camera. I like the bulky ,chunky, solid feel, the zoom range, the viewfinder is a marvel, the photo quality is at the level of some apse-c 4-5 years old dslr, which, considering the size of the sensor, it is an amazing ... So far; so GREAT!
Make no mistake, this is NOT a compact or lightweight camera. And, it probably no longer fits within the ever-zooming definition of a super-zoom. Those are the only negatives. I am not a professional photographer or even an advanced hobbyist; I am a regular guy who wants to take pictures of good enough quality to blow-up and hang on my wall to remind me of good times, good places, good people. And I want prints larger than 11x17. I have had the F... Show More

Forget Panasonic Suppor
I originally commented on the poor battery performance. Then on the problem getting support. Well, now I finally was able to get support, and you know you might as well not waste your time. After waiting 30 minutes for a technician, and 1.5 hours on phone, with a person who was struggling through the manual, as I was, I did not get any help. The software didn't work, so the guy said, sorry, your software isn't going to work. When I asked for help... Show More

OUTSTANDING VALUE !
I recently purchased this at $300.00 off the regular price. If purchased at regular price, I would rate at four stars. That said, this is a very nice all in one camera. First the Pros. It trades extreme telephoto for a larger sensor, thus giving you a very good 400mm f:4 lens in a reasonably small size. The grip is comfortable and the articulating screen is great. The view finder gives a bright sharp view and the diopter has a lot of +/- adjustme... Show More

So far, so great!
Too early to give extensive review, but after a few hours I'm pretty impressed. BUILD: Average to good, light weight, love the viewfinder flip screen/quality. Would NOT want to ever drop any camera but especially this one. FIRST PHOTOS: (see below)WOW, right out of the camera CREAMY/dreamlike bokeh and decent low light (both on auto with just uv lens protector on. LEARNING CURVE: Going to be quite a bit as this camera is feature loaded and NOT a ... Show More

Love it so far
Have had less than a week, so havent fully checked out. Bought for stills/portraits but also for action shots and 4 k video for family sports. Bought for features and price. Didnt want to change lenses, bt wanted zoom. It has NFC and microphone input, which some websites out there say it doesnt. Its big, but its very well balanced, more blanced than other smaller cameras i tried, and has lots of space to find various buttons. I havent bought ... Show More

Great Quality
We purchased this camera for travel - specifically on a safari for our honeymoon. The camera is a great size and weight, I am a petite female and it is just on the edge of being a little large to comfortably hold, but the giant Leica lens is totally worth it. It is super feature rich, and I would absolutely suggest you read the manual in it's entirety to learn the full potential of this camera. I am an amateur photographer with a decent amount of... Does it all in one
I love the fact that I can get nice raw images from this camera with a decent sensor size. The video is also great at 4K. I like taking the stills off of a video clip where I can choose the right moment in time. Im a small woman and have no trouble carrying it around. It feels good in my hands. I actually get a better grip on it for steadying than a tiny camera. Im just a hobbyist, not a pro, so take that into consideration. But for my needs its ... Show More

Why does this outperform some
First, I've been a professional videographer for about 28 years, seen a lot of cameras come and go, 3/4in. Beta cam, etc. I bought this bridge camera to take on vacation since my Rebel died. I took it out yesterday to shoot for the first time and was blown away by the quality for the price. I shot 4k and I have to say that out of the box, it is much easier to get very good results than other pro camera's I've owned. It seems kind of ironic that a... Show More

Excellent replacement for defunct DSLR
I have a DSLR camera body that is in need of replacement. Rather than get another DSLR, I investigated the Bridge Cameras. Having a good water proof pocket camera w/marginal zoom capabilities, I wanted something with more zoom and manual setting options while still having auto shooting capabilities when necessary. There are a number of Bridge Cameras available that satisfied my needs but the Panasonic FZ1000 seemed to fit my needs the best. I hav... Show More

Better Than It Has A Right To Be
Blazing fast and accurate auto focus. Superb color renditions and low noise up to ISO1600. Capable at smaller sizes however up to ISO3200. A dizzying array of customization. Excellent viewfinder and LCD screen fully articulated. The grip is about as good as it gets. The onboard zoom is a virtual equal in sharpness to some separate DSLR $ zooms I've worked with. The image stabilization is the current State of the Art. 4K video is stunning of cours... Show More

So far his has been an excellent buy. Excellent zoom with very fast auto focus and beautiful picture quality. Menu structure clear and intuitive, with a scrolling 1-2 sentence explanation at the top. So far I have not found out how to get the flash to work, but all of my low light pictures have come out well. Also I believe that there is a mechanical shutter but I have not yet had it work-I believe that it only comes into play with the flash. Thi... Show More

Consistent Quality from Panasonic
I purchased this camera based on past experience with the Panasonic Lumix line and from online reviews. This is my fourth Panasonic having owned a FZ50, FZ150 and FZ200. The camera controls are similar to the other Panasonic cameras which made the transition easy. I think I will miss the 600 mm zoom from the FZ200 because I shoot a lot of wildlife and nature photos. Hopefully the increased resolution from a larger sensor will offset that limitati... Show More

Disappointing
I have had a few weeks to use this camera, and I am totally disppointed with it. I have tried to contact Panasonic support, and on a chat, get disconnected, or by phone, am given the run around because I purchased from USA and live in Canada. But it is impossible to follow the manual, as what it says to do, just doesn't work. I am beginning to think I have a dud, but until I can talk to support, I am just frustrated with the totally difficult and... Show More

This camera packs a powerful punch!
I bought this camera to use on vacation and I have been practicing with it during the run up to my trip. Surprised at the plethora of features that emulate my Canon 5D. For me....since it's a switch from another camera, I find the settings a bit cumbersome, but once used to it, I started changing settings easily. Picture quality is great. Wide range of ISO settings and the ability to set high shutter speeds is a major plus for me! I would recomme... Show More

So far so good
Yes I will admit this camera feels cheap with the plastic body, but it's performance so far has been impressive. The EVF is very clear and bright. I like that the eyecup protrudes out enough you don't leave a nose print on the screen. It has good low light performance and it has quick focusing. I'm still figuring out all of the features but there are some good I have discovered so far; for example, a built-in star filter that looks very similar t... Show More

Do not buy this camera!
This is the most difficult to operate point and shoot in history. There is nothing straight forward about it. Everything is bound up in convoluted and illogical menus and arcane settings. And even if you do click off an actual keeper, good luck getting it off the camera. You will have to go to card readers and third party programs to get the images. The supplied software freezes your computer on installation, then simply doesn't work. I have reas... Show More

The camera is outstanding. Love the features & versatility. The free camera bag is too small for the camera. I dont understand why that particular bag was selected, but hey - it was free with the camera and the SDHC card so no loss. Unfortunately, the manual is pretty basic.
