Superb General Camera
In my search for the perfect camera I have a lot of equipment, including a Leica M240 and an X-Pro1 outfit. Then I got this, and after a couple of weeks' use it is my camera of choice. No hassle changing lenses, great range with the zoom (25-400, all useable). Light to carry for what it is, I can have this around my neck all day without problems. Pictures are excellent quality, the autofocus is superb. I haven't tried video yet, but I don't expec... Show More

Exceeded Expectations, but Slow Zoom
I do social media and digital communication for my university, so I use this for video primarily. I love this camera because the quality is really great. Particularly the colors, which are very rich and vibrant. The quality is high enough that I can use screenshots from the video in post and have a high-res photo to use for later. This is super helpful.Things that took me a while to adjust: -I'm used to DSLRs, so not having both a focal ring and z... Show More

Great all around camera
This is a magnificent camera. My second Lumix replacing my Panasonic FZ100. The FZ100 is a 42X zoom while the FZ1000 is 16X, however in my travels I don't miss the extra zoom. The camera is great to handle while shooting portrature or landscape. It has a quick response when starting up and it is always ready for any shot. The video button is in the right spot and is readily available to shoot in 4K. I shoot with my left eye while using the viewfi... Show More

What an amazing camera for the price
Having had only Nikon cameras previously, I will admit to some bias. However, the Panasonic LUMIX won me over. The DMC-FZ1000 is very light and easy to carry. The screen is of an excellent size and can be moved into easy-to-view locations when taking difficult shots. The operation of the camera is quite intuitive and its ready to go, right out of the box. Within a few days of receiving the camera, I took it on a 14 mile hike into wilderness count... Show More

Wish it was smaller and better IQ
Bought this to replace an FZ200 (mistake) as I thought the 1 sensor would trump the FZ200 (which I consider a 200 max iso camera). I also thought the more dense sensor would allow cropping the 400mm equivalent lens to be able to compare to the FZ200...It doesn't. At iso 400 and below it's an excellent cam, but iso 800 is a noticeable dropoff. The dynamic range is also not as good as I expected. If you don't need more than 400mm reach, go for it. I... Show More

4K at a fair price
Though I usually use full size Pro Video cameras. This DSLR is pretty good. The sound - even when using an external mic - is not that great. What do you expect for the low price? The menu is very weird but easy to run through. The image quality in subdued / dark lighting is nothing like my big Sony NX Cams. But in average to good light it is fine. After all. If I want to shot in difficult situations I would just bring out a Full Size Pro Camera. ... Show More

Good balance between simplicity and advanced features
I previously used a Canon SX1 IS and while it was a good camera, I did not like the poor resolution of the viewfinder and the modest size sensor and pixel count. The DMC-FZ1000 solves all of these, with a nice, bright viewfinder with good resolution, and a larger sensor and twice as many pixels. I like this style of camera, because I get some zoom capability without lugging around a big bulky lens, and because, depending on the situation, I can c... Show More

So far, so good!
I've been tracking the reviews on this camera for almost two years and was able to snag one when B&H restocked them recently (was scared I may have missed the boat after waiting so long). I must say that, in my short experience with it, the reviews are not off...this camera is outstanding and I am pleased with my purchase thus far. Will it replace my DSLR? Not sure about that yet, but for a more compact option to travel with, this certainly fits ... Show More

Outstanding camera
This is a perfect bridge camera. I understand Leica (who supplies the lens) markets their own model which is about the same except you can pay a tad more money to flaunt the name. Panasonic should supply a memory card for the used to remember all the features available. Yet, it can function as a regular camera to take everyday pictures. One feature not mentioned often is that you can buy filters for the lens if you are looking for some special ef... Show More

My 4th FZ-1000
This is my 4th FZ-1000 since 2014. I'm a video and photographerprofessional and I love these things. Sure, you can't remove the lens, but honestly with the improvements in Leica, you don't need to remove it. As a matter of fact, the Leica V-LUX is the same camera, same specs, same builder, Panasonic. 4K video isn't bad for the most part, you def need a fast SD card and they can be costly. The ONLY thing I didnt like about this bundled deal (ca... Show More

Great Bridge Camera
This camera is amazing. I have taken some great shots with it and it is a joy to use. compared to a dslr it is light light light, especially when you consider the 24-400mm range on the lens. I have carried it up mountains, thrown it on a tripod on the beach and it has held up well. I have shot outdoor sports with it and it is fast. the EV is amazing. If you take some time and learn/set up the camera it can do so much. There is only one thing that... Show More

Lovin' It!
I was planning to step up to my first DSLR, but a week of research convinced me that - given the situations in which I most often shoot - I would be happier with this fast, mirror-less, super-zoom bridge model. During the years of using a Nikon SLR, I frequently resented having to lug around a bag of heavy lenses. And during the past four years, I constantly was frustrated by the slow AF on my high-end, compact Coolpix. So, the thought of having ... Show More

Small sensor? Have no fear...
I really hesitated with this purchase due to sensor size, and way too much reading opinions online. I have a D7100 which takes incredibly detailed pictures and thought I couldn't live with less.Like many things in life, you are the best judge of what is good for you...in the end, it was just what I was looking for;flexible, zoom range, great image quality, excellent video, fast performance and focus. Best bridge camera on the market
I do videos professional mostly training and promotional. I was looking for an upgrade to my XA10 with a powered zoom lens to complement my GH4. This was a no brainer, and after a quick couple of tests a solid performer and color match to the GH4. Side by side you will not be able to see the difference in video quality. The GH4 has slightly better low light with a 2.8F lens but honestly not much. I was a hardcore Canon lover but lately they just ... Show More

Close but image quality was a let-down
I really wanted this camera to work as it is such a great deal. Very fast and responsive however image quality is a let down...I bought two different times and the first one was consistently soft at long end so I returned it. The second copy was better although somewhat inconsistent at long end with the show stopper being very soft and smeary looking left side at 35 mm to 70mm (35mm equivalent). Seems to be lens centering issue so I returned this... Show More

Great all around camera
I've had the FZ 1000 about 3 weeks and it's all the reviews say it is. I upgraded from the FZ 200 and I'm happy I did. It's not as big and bulky as it's said to be. No bigger than a GH3 and 14-140 lens and it's lighter. The controls are well-placed, not always under your thumb like on smaller bridge cameras. This camera goes everywhere with me. Great focal range, don't miss the extra 200mm. Menu set up is easy even if you're not familiar with Pana... Show More

Ok, but totally upgradeable!!!
There are many things about the Panasonic FZ1000 that I love. The one thing I hate is the fact that the internal mic picks up all of the image stabilization noises. So I thought I would give an external mic a try!!! I love Rode shotgun microphones, and I was worried that the FZ1000 would not supply the needed power to the mic jack. However, rest assured that this microphone, the Rode Videomic Go, works brilliantly well with this camera, and provi... Show More

Extremely Disappointed
I was extremely disappointed with the FZ1000. I immediately had trouble with the settings working properly, and other problems. When I contacted Panasonic, they dismissed the problems as my imagination, after taking several months to supposedly work on the camera. It then got worse. On some settings, I'd get a message the setting was improper, and I'd have to jiggle it around to get it work. Finally, the camera started making pictures only in bla... Show More

A pleasant surprise
I resisted ordering this simply because of that old prejudice, It has to be a Nikon, Canon, Pentax or Olympus. However, I was growing tired of the noise on the 1/2.3 sensors that the megazooms carry, and discovered that the minimum focus distance on my new Nikon P900 precluded a lot of close in shots of butterflies and dragonflies. (I'm primarily a nature photographer.) So I bought this just because of the 1 sensor and 400mm capability, and could... Show More

Great Bridge Camera
I purchased the FZ1000 about a week ago. The photo quality and 4K video is fantastic. The camera is big but not too heavy. It is easy to hold because it has a very nice grip. There are many menus so you have to read the manual to get the best from this camera. Image stabilization is very good. I got some clear sharp hand held photos at full zoom. EVF is very good for a bridge camera. Battery life is a little short but I always carry an extra batt... Show More

I love this camera
I like the quality of the photos it takes. For my work I use a DSLR, and it's quite tiresome to take it with the lenses, it's quite heavy for personal use, like going to the country side. So I bought this camera for personal use. I started using a few days ago, and so far I'm very pleased with the results. It measures the light very well, it's quite customizable, the high ISO photos are not too noisy. The only thing that I regret is that the flas... Show More

Perfict Fit
Have had the FZ1000 for about 3 weeks and am loving it. I think of it as the big brother to my FZ200. A bit larger but not too, and not too heavy. I thought long and hard about adding a dslr or mirror less camera, but just decided that changing lenses just isn't for me anymore, and the FZ1K does 95% of what my shooting requires.
