Great Water Camera

Jul 11, 2017

Having upcoming Naturalist certification classes, This is the camera I was looking for. Waterproof to 50 feet, drop proof and crush proof. Loaded with features including the scene setting I discovered and used for the Fourrh of July. I also bought the wide angle and telephoto lenses. I am one happy camper with the Olympus TG-5!

good quality point & shoot for traveling

Jul 7, 2017

Use the camera on boats. Picture quality is good. Settings not very intuitive but camera works well right out the box. Battery life seem to be good for all day use, don't use video much. Have not used it in the water. Didn't realize that I need the adapter for filter use. Ordered it now for the next trip. Lens is wide angle and caught the edge of my finger holding the camera a couple time ; )

Perfect Everyday Carry Camera

Jul 3, 2017

The TG 5 is a great camera - I have only had it a few weeks and so far it exceeds my expectations. Love not having to baby it, just carry it. Superb photos!

The poor panorama feature is a deal-breaker

Jul 3, 2017

Generally the TG-5 does what Olympus promises, but I take a lot of panoramas, and that feature just doesn't work well on this camera (check out the goofy rainbow I shot with it). After a couple day's use, I sent my TG-5 back and got a Nikon Coolpix AW130 for $200 less. It may not be as tough, but it takes great panoramas.

Not good, would not buy

Jun 30, 2017

Compared to a 4year old Nikon all weather Cons: battery life inexistent, too much aberration, flat colors, the programs result into nothing but flat colors and lack of definition, the depth field is also to be desired, Pros: fast focus I wish I could return it.

I would definitely buy this again

Jun 28, 2017

Lots of features. Focus stacking and panorama mode of special interest to me. Perfect fit between cell phone and SLR and waterproof key feature. I plan to use it white water rafting through the Grand Canyon. Would be 5 stars for me if it had a bigger sensor. I make 4K videos and would like the extra resolution

Olympus TG 5

Jun 28, 2017

I wanted a camera that my wife would actually enjoy using. This point and shoot size camera has many powerful features, yet it is extremely user friendly for anyone that is intimidated by larger fully functional cameras. The Olympus Tough TG-5 is a rugged camera that is waterproof to 15m/50ft, shockproof from 2.1m/7ft, crushproof to 100kgf/220lbf and dust proof. It has a built-in GPS, manometer, thermometer and compass. Other features include a 3... Show More

Nice camera

Jun 27, 2017

This is a take-it-anywhere companion to my Olympus EM-5. Having similar menus is a plus. I typically shoot raw+jpeg in P mode. Jpegs are good - perhaps better color and exposure than the EM-5. Raw format has already proven its worth for a couple of jpegs that needed extra help. The camera feels good in my hand, and the controls are comfortable. Olympus should include the CLA-T01 adapter and lens cap, but oh well. I plan to use the camera mostly when hiking, skiing and canoeing. It will be with me on a whitewater rafting trip this summer, and snorkeling in Hawaii next winter.

A perfect companion!

Jun 27, 2017

Being a biologist in Louisiana, I need a tough waterproof camera that can withstand many bumps and bruises. My Tough Guy is the answer. Ir has great macro for the small flowers and little critters and certainly beats lugging my large macro lenses into the swamp. It is a permanent fixture in my camera bag.

Great if you know what you want

Jun 26, 2017

So that you know where I'm coming from I will tell you I am an avid amateur photographer. I have a Nikon D810 and an Olympus OM-D E-M1 mkII. I bought an Olympus TG-3 years ago for a trip. I liked it very much and told a fellow coworker so, who wrangled it out of me. I skipped the TG-4, but now find myself in the market for another underwater camera so I bought the TG-5. I have had it for several weeks and put about 4,000 photos on the card. The g... Show More

First Impressions

Jun 16, 2017

Just received this in the mail today. My first impressions: **The camera is lighter and smaller than I expected, easily pocketable. Much more so than my previous camera (Canon G12). A lot of advanced featues packed into a small body. **Elegant design that nonetheless appears to live up to its toughness claims. The latches on side and bottom have 2 buttons: open/close and lock/unlock buttons, which make sure the camera stays sealed from the elemen... Show More
