Compact and convenient
Focusing is plenty quick except a bit of hunting beyond about 130mm. Lens is sharp wide open, a big plus as its not that fast. A good lens for the price ($), but I wouldn't pay the usual retail for it. Another bonus is the silent focussing system for use during video.

Practable zoom range, slow apature
M.Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm f/4.0-5.6 R Lens (Black) by Olympus The zoom range of the lens is quite good in practicable shooting situations, however the reletave apature of f4 is quite slow. in full frame 35mm size (24x36mm) it is equivelent to approx 80mm to 300mm, an ideal and very usefull lens apature would be f2 across the zoom range Jerry Creaney D.O.P MELBOURNE AUSTRALIA

Ideal telephoto zoom for travel
A good value, light weight telephoto zoom which I purchased specifically for travel. Very pleased with the plastic construction, although the filter thread is easily cross-threaded. Not a problem if you use a prophylactic filter, but if you don't you'll have to be careful. Images are nice and sharp, especially at f/5.6-8, and night/low light performance is quite acceptable on my E-P3. Focus can hunt a little at times, but using a single AF target (my home AF setting) to lock focus and then recomposing eliminates the issue. Very pleased with this lens.

First Impressions
Granted I haven't gotten much time with this lens but first impressions haven't been great. The Olympus description on their web page said this was a new lens with a metal body. When I received the lens it was ALL plastic and the zoom action was rough. I complained to Olympus and they did change the description on their web page. (new metallic color is what they intended, I think)Again, I'm sure more experience is needed, but a bit challenging to hold it steady with this zoom on the E-PL2. Probably need to stick with shorter focal length lens.

Perfect Lens

Awesome Lens
I purchased this lens to use on vacation. It allows me to get up and close to those shots that were distant using the 14-42 lens. The pictures are very sharp and the lens responds very quickly.
