A decent super zoom

Jun 2, 2017

I purchased this lens to use when traveling as I was interested in having the weight and size advantages, as well as the zoom range. I debated getting the 12-100 pro lens but my experience with super zooms taught me that having greater range was more useful for me. The sharpness and IQ is decent for a super zoom, and frankly was a nice surprise. Is it my favorite Olympus lens? Not at all, but it is a decent tool and met my expectations for the money. The fact that it is water and dust resistant at the price point is a bonus.

Pleasantly Surprised!

Aug 10, 2015

This lens surprised me in how small and light it feels on my OM-D E-M1. The lens seems quite sharp in the center and considering it's broad focal length, perfectly adequate at the edge. The fit and finish are very good for a lens at this price point. I still need to give the lens an exhaustive work out (which I will be able to do with some upcoming travel.) The weather and dust proofing will come in handy for you outdoor enthusiasts. No particular downsides so far when you consider the excellent $ price on sale right now!

Good lens for travel but fragile

Nov 22, 2017

Bought this lens to use during my travels when i want to go lightweight. Image quality is OK if there is enough light and in general i am very pleased with its performance. What bothered me the most was its fragile design: the metal bayonet is connected to a plastic body with 4 tiny screws. My lens almost lost its bayonet after a small drop of a camera bag from hips height (while attached to a camera). Had to send the lens for repair. Summary: Pros: Image quality, size, cost Cons: build quality

Lightweight and Versatil Powerhouse Lens

Apr 22, 2015

I was not expecting what this lens was able to produce, although not a Pro Series lens it certainly pulls it's weight among those lenses much more expensive. I wish I would have gotten this lens before the 12-40 Pro....there is no need for both, this lens is just that good. Incredibly light weight and a great range of 14-150mm, it really does lend itself to be the one lens....the all-around lens to have on your camera at all times. Very pleased and as always B&H free and fast shipping.

14-150 II lens

Aug 10, 2015

I needed a good walk-around lens for my Oly M1 as the two pro lenses I own, although they're excellent, are heavy and large enough to require their own photo bag. With this lens I can fit the camera + lens into my small messenger bag and cary it around all day with out fatigue. The lens itself does an excellent job. Not quite as fast or as perfect as my 12-40 or my 40-150, but it's 1/3 the cost and 1/3 the weight. Good reach, light weight and reasonable cost. Oly's got a winner.

waited for it, worth it

Aug 11, 2015

Like most reviews from companies, there is never enough time to actually use the product for long. However, initial thoughts are this a well built lens that will eliminate the use of other lenses, unless a very light weight one is needed. I was surprised how easy it is to use and it did come with a lens hood. So far I am impressed, after losing my 35mm camera months ago.The camera itself, the E-M5 is a little difficult to use. Too many options! Overall, a very nice package.

Update post Niagara Falls

Oct 30, 2017

Everything I said from a year ago is still true, and then some! My experiences with this lens at Niagara Falls prompted this update. The lens performed flawlessly at Cave of the Winds -- drenching spray from being up close and personal with the American Falls. Maid of the Mist? I wore the poncho but not my camera (Olympus OMD Mark 5 II -- also weatherproof). My photos from this lens were outstanding. I'm even happier with this lens than I was when I wrote my first review.

excellent glass for real workers

avoiding purist critics of all superzooms and using it in real pro work life this lens is amazing. i work all day with it and is sticked to my EM5 ( stabilization body), his natural camera. you could jump to a group photo to a detail portrait in 1 second, allways sharp. pro construction, 28-300, what more could ask? i work everyday in journalism, i know about what i talk. stop ppeping pixels, catch real photo life and get one of this in your camera, and shot shot shot.

Versatile Weather-sealed Telephoto Lens

Aug 10, 2015

I purchased this lens as an alternative to an Olympus Micro Four Thirds 12-50 Weather Sealed Zoom. Although that lens included a power zoom feature that the 14-150 does not have, it lacked the longer focal length I required for wildlife photography. At f 4-5.6, this lens is not suitable for low light situations, at $ it is a bargain when compared with the Olympus Pro Micro Four Thirds alternatives. This lens, unlike the 12-50mm, includes a lens hood.

Solid Performer

May 11, 2015

Small, Solid Build, Good Optical Performance. This is a great walk around lens if you want to go extremely light. The optical performance is quite good, but not in the same league as lenses like the Olympus 12-40 Pro. I didn't expect it to be, but it is still very good. Quick AF. The price is quite competitive. A nice companion to other MFT lenses. At f/4 - f/5.6 not a lens to be used in low lighting conditions. Clearly not designed for that.

I'm very impressed

Feb 28, 2016

I purchased this lenses for my OM-D 10 as a everyday zoom lens. It's not as pin sharp as my prime 25mm and 45mm lenses, but it's pretty darn good for a lens that's very broad 14-150mm zoom. I've even used it as a macro with good results and nice brokeh. I don't want to spend $ for the pro 12-40. It's water sealed, though my camera isn't and has a solid feel, though it's very light weight. I'm very happy with this lens.

WOW!

Aug 11, 2015

This is only the 2nd lens I've ever bought that gave me the wow when I looked at my first pictures. A little hard to hand hold at 150 but wow how sharp even at that length. 14 is not its best but doable and on up to 150 very sharp. There is no perfect lens but this comes close as any I've ever owned. This lens will stay on my camera unless I put a macro on! Can't believe anybody would be unhappy with this lens.

Stands up to Olympus name

Oct 30, 2015

This is an amazing lens for the money, it stands up in photo quality to my Pro 12-40 lens. In fact, had I had this lens first I may not have bought the 12-40 Pro and just used this one all the time. Yes I know it's poor in low light but if you use a tripod when the shutter speed drops you are fine, I mostly use it hand held and with the EM-1 stabilization you usually have no shake. Simply a wonderful lens.

excellent lens

Aug 7, 2015

I love this sense. I had the previous one, and was excited to get the weather sealed one. Keep in mind what this lens is for. It wasn't made for portrait or macro photography. So for what it is, it is great, light, and takes great pictures. Great all around lens. GO Olympus! Love their latest innovation. Now just get the video together, and you we will have the best of both worlds.

A perfect m4/3 street lens

Aug 18, 2015

I was looking for a lens that is light, sharp at all focal lengths and reasonably fast to use while traveling with my Lumix GX7. The M.Zuiko was discounted so I took a chance and ordered it. I am so pleased with this lens. Very light. Quick auto focus. Not exactly fast but great in decent light. A good choice for traveling when you want to leave your heavy DSLR at home.

Seems Like It's Better Than The I

Sep 9, 2015

I've been using this with an Olympus E-M10. I could be wrong, but results seem better with the II version than with the I. I know that I don't have to do as much color correction in ACR as I used to do. I just returned from a Sierra hiking trip and I have to say that this combo is really quite impressive, both weight-wise and results-wise.

Great carry around lens

May 30, 2016

This is a great carry round lens for the OMD camera series and substitutes very well for the two kit lenses that cover this range. The images are crisp and sharp and the color reproduction exceptional. I would certainly recommend it. If you are interested in moving to the micro 4/3 system, this is a must have lens for the Olympus system.

So far so good

Jul 4, 2018

I've only had this a short time but so far I like it. I used it to take product photos for my wife's online store, and while it does not focus as close as the 14 to 42 I had been using, the photos were sharp and the colors very good. I bought it mostly for travel - to avoid lense changes. I am looking forward to using it in the field.

Like the light weight!

Dec 12, 2016

I've just tried it out and I love the lightweight feel. The shots done outdoors are sharp and the focusing is quick. Inside in low light focusing is not good and shots are blurry, taking a long time to write to card. This doesn't worry me as I plan to be using it as a travel lens for landscapes and city shots.

Dec 9, 2015

I bought this lens because I needed the reach when hiking, was pleasantly surprised how nice this lens is--sharp and true colors, I did try it with a circular polarizer but the shots came out too dark, I guess because it isn't the fastest lens but with a UV filter I did like the shots very much

Great lens for its zoom range

Apr 22, 2016

It is definitely not the fastest and sharpest lens, but it is great for its zoom range. Not very useful indoor at least without flash because of relatively small F4.0, but great for outdoor use. No lens is perfect for everything.
