Vaux Speaker for Amazon Echo Dot - Carbon
Very Disappointing
If you are thinking of buying an Amazon Dot and buying this speaker to go with it DO NOT BOTHER. I am lucky enough to be in a position where I was able to compare this speaker with the Amazon Echo, and the Echo beats it hands down. The Vaux speaker is lacking in bass and top range, the sound is all based around the center frequencies which makes for a very harsh uncomfortable sound. You do not save any money by buying a Dot and Vaux speaker separately, at current prices it will cost £10 more!

Speaker is great... Argos.. However...
I presume ordered this speaker... When collecting from store the box looked damaged. Which was the first signal, the speaker itself looked word on the base of both where you house the Echo Dot and the base of the speaker itself. On first use of using the speaker I noticed right away it was faulty, or goes think it's okay to hand out a returned item as new... However once I replaced it the new speaker which was properly presented was fine.

Increases sound levels fantastically
I’d bought my Dot for the bedroom, and while the sound quality was ‘ok’ I wanted to increase it without having to replace it with another Echo. With its simple ‘plug in and play’, it was sooo easy to set up and use, and the sound quality is practically as good as having a second Echo. The only flaw is that if the volume is up ‘too high’ the Dot microphones have trouble hearing commands. All you have to do is stand closer.

Loud little thing but ...
it can be too loud! If you're looking for a toy that'll boost Alexa very high so you can hear her from anywhere in the house, then this is for you! Make sure that your Alexa has volume buttons on top otherwise when set to 7+ volume and you decide to play music ... she won't hear you! xD Pros: Easy to put together Nice sound/levels 6 hour battery Cons: If set too loud she won't hear you

It's good, but could be better
Overall I'm pleased with it, though I have to use equalisation at source before I'm happy with the sound. I virtually have to turn top & middle off & turn bass right up. It's too toppy on it's own. It sounds batter from other sources than Amazon Alexa. as the Alexa equalisation isn't enough. I find it doesn't want to stay connected unless it's plugged into the mains supply.

Good in small rooms but
It does have an app enabled feature to play with bass, middle and treble but the failed to notice any difference between the lowest and highest settings. The sound is very clear but lacks bass for my personal preference. A good level in loudness and with the built in battery, this becomes portable and as long as you are in range of WiFi, you have all the echo features.

This product is a good buy
The first one I purchased was faulty. I had it home delivered and to replace it, Argos could not have been more efficient. Brilliant service for collection and replacement. The replacement is absolutely brilliant. I now have this "portable" model and two Echoes, all from Argos. I cannot fault either the product or the Argos commitment to customer service. Thank you.

Great sound quality
I was going to buy Amazon Alexa but my friend recommended buying the Echo Dot along with this speaker & I'm glad I did. The Dot just pops in snuggly to the top of the speaker. Quality is fab plus I can unplug the whole unit & take it to any room or outside &'use wirelessly as it has built in battery. Volume controls on top of speaker handy too. Well pleased.

Great way to use Alexa anywhere in the house
This is a great speaker for the Amazon Echo dot. The unit provides enhanced sound from the dots internal speaker with the advantage of being able to unplug the unit and take it anywhere in the house or garden (subject to the strength of your WiFi) so you can listen to music in any room with the built in rechargeable battery which is last for ages......

Quality
This is a quality speaker dock for the amazon echo dot, once it’s fitted nicely into the top of the speaker the sound is just as good as buying the new amazon echo and with its stylish look won’t look out of place in your home . So if you already own a DOT it’s worth purchasing Vaux speaker To add just a bit more quality to ALEXA

product was unsuitable
Product was misdescribed on Argos website as being suitable for use with Alexa Echo Dot thingie. My Echo Dot was the wrong size, and had the wrong cables, so the product was not compatible. If your products are only compatible with selected models, this should be made clear on the website. I did advise your staff member of this.

Surprisingly Good
This little number greatly enhances the sound of your Echo. It's not hi fi, but it throws out a decent bit of bass and you can hear the stereo imagery. It's easy to use and looks nice. The only bit I don't like is the lead going into the front. It sounds better than £40, and lends some portability to your Echo.

It was not made clear that you have to also buy the Echo Dot with this product so while at Argos I bought the Echo Dot which I discovered when I opened it that it did not fit this speaker and they cant take back opened packet so I had to buy another Echo dot but this time the older model. Not good !

wireless speaker
I was very disappoint with sound quality, the dot does fit into it well and easy to connect up the speaker to it,though Vaux is no where as good as the Amazon echo speaker! I took Vaux speaker back and got a full refund! Good old Argos great staff at Bournemouth post office road branch. thank you

Not really worth buying
I bought this because I wanted to be able to use the echo dot without being plugged in. That part is fulfilled but the volume cannot be controlled at all, the echo dot is not able to be turned down making it too loud for normal use. I no longer use the speaker because of this poor deign feature

Makes the Echo Dot portable
Makes the Echo Dot portable Battery life is ... ok ... It's not a problem, and the battery lasts long enough to be worthwhile. But, if you forget about the speaker, and leave it on whilst not in use, I often find that the battery has run out when I come back to it.

Great speaker
Speaker works great. Very user friendly down to the fact you can just plug in alexa and leave it. The only downside was the fact it did not have Bluetooth so cannot be used with your phone instead of going through alexa. But in all a great device!

Brilliant sound
I was very impressed with the sound is very good like the design fits perfectly on the book case able to take anywhere around the house so don't have to plug it battery last ages very happy with my Alexa echo dot speaker good money for value

This Speaker is Fantastic
First saw this speaker on QVC and thought it looked OK but I was a little sceptic about some of the claims being made. They were not wrong it is as good as they claimed, plenty of volume, good bass and so easy to set up and use.

Alexa’s New home
Great speaker, loud and good sound, let’s you take Alexa anywhere in the house with a good battery life. Only downside is Alexa struggles to hear you from a distance when the volume is u. Would recommend it though.

Great speaker
Decent speaker only downside is when you try to turn it off you have to be really close to the speaker for it to hear your command , still worth the money though good investment makes echo dot sound a lot better.

Speaker for echo dot
The Vaux speaker for the echo dot looks and sounds great. Although when you have it on volume 10 echo can't hear you even when you shout so have to turn down manually. Not a problem. Would definitely recommend

Great addition, one niggle
I love the volume of this and the fact you can take it around the house or even outside. The little niggle is that sometime Alexa struggles to hear you when the music is playing.
