A little slow but good image quality
This low cost budget Sony camera has very good image quality and good low light performance. Video also looks good and the zoom is silent. The battery charges while in the camera via usb or wall outlet. The camera is a little slow from shot to shot - it takes about a second before the picture is displayed in the screen after you take the picture. That one complaint aside, this is a very good camera especially for the price.

Good enough but could be better
I was going to give a rave review until I looked at the date when last purchasing this camera. This is my 2nd identical camera and I was replacing a camera I thought I'd worn out after years of hard use. It turns out it lasted only a year. That isn't good enough in my opinion and Sony should work to improve their product. As far as clarity of image and ease of use the camera is fine but it should last longer than a year. I'm an artist and mostly just use the camera to take shots o my paintings so it didn't get used very hard.

Learning curve leads to great pics
I needed to resort to the web to figure out how to shut off the automatic flash https://www.techwalla.com/articles/how-to-turn-off-the-flash-on-a-sony-cybershot - so just search. The instructions that come with the camera are basic. The controls are very small as is the camera overall - fits in a shirt pocket. It takes good pictures. Sharp in dusk or rooms or sunlight. Does a good job focusing on what's in the center.

No, would not buy again'
Instructions on how to use are nill. Picture on scree is really hazy. Almost returned it, but haze doesn't come out on photo and need camera for overseas trip. Otherwise would have. Price is good. Size is perfect. Assistance was good. Due to lack of quality of screen definition would not buy again. If I could exchange after trip I would. Doubt if allowed.

Worst camera.
Even with Leica lens, video and picture are the worst of the equivalents of others, imagine that with a Sony lens. Never recommend.

Nice Product
I have only used this camera a few times so I can't really give any pros and cons. It is small and will be good to travel with. I have taken a few practice shots and am very satisfied. It may be a little slow on recovery, so allow a couple of seconds before your next shot. The battery is only 600 ma, so have another on hand. I bought a 1200 ma on line. Lots of options on menu. Just take some time and experiment. Will take it to Israel next month. Can comment more after that.

Very Nice Camera
This is the first small digital camera I ever bought. It is a change from the 35mm ones. So far I'm getting to know how it works. And I really like it. One of the best things is, it fits into my shirt pocket.

Camera died after 1 month
I had trouble from the beginning to open and close the camera. A week ago, the camera did not open at all. I thought, may be the battery? After a awhile it came alive, but I had to reprogram it all over, date, etc., I took 3 pictures and now the camera is dead as dead can be. I have not contacted Sony, yet, but that on/off button may have some problems or other malfunction in the system. Very disappointing since my previous model N50 worked for years without a glitch. See what Sony says.

Good features at a good price.
I bought this lightweight and small digital camera to replace a 14 year old Pentax model that was state of the art at that time for compact digital cameras. While it has some of the same features, and greater pixel capabilities, it is certainly not the caliber of the former in construction or flexible features such as recharging base, direct AC capabilities, connectivity to A/V, etc. For the lower price, it is sufficient, with well functioning fe... So far am totally satisfied with the camera.
The camera is compact, easy to use and takes good pictures. The only negative is that I bought a spare battery and the only way I will be able to charge it is to put it into the camera. That is kind of awkward. I think an external charger would have been a better arrangement

Great dependable camera
Found this camera very user friendly. Has excellent clarity on photos taken inside or outside.

I would buy it again
Had to purchase another pocket size camera after the one I had for 10 years or so fell on a ceramic floor with lens out. The DSC-W830 is a nice camera you can carry on your belt in case you need it. Zoom works nice display clear and flash bright and a rechargeable battery that charges up in no time. The only thing I liked better on my old Sony was that there was a viewer that I find is easier to use than the display.

Light and bright!
Wife is happy! She wanted a better point and shoot camera for a long time. Sony seems like a great value for family and travel photos. Lightweight, nice screen. Kids are excited too!

Vendor Reliable
These were the same model that we previously had at our other locations. We were so glad that B&H had the items as we had been misled by a previous vendor in regards to the same item. Thank you.

Garbage
This is the fifth Sony Sure-Shot type camera we have purchased over the years. Sony cameras are getting worse and worse every time. They are relying on their reputation to sell their product and spending less and less to make them at least as well or better while raising prices and making a much more inferior product.

pixels.
This camera must have been dropped on its way to my house because when you view images their blurry. I'am very disapointed With this being 20 mega pixels the images should be crisp and bright.

I will buy another SONY DSC-W830 Digital Camera for my wife.
I tested and been using the camera and everything is working good without any problems. My next goal is to buy another camera for my wife. I believe my wife will not be disappointed with SONY DSC-W830 camera.

Almost just what I wanted.
It is small fits in any pocket and takes a good picture. It could be of a better construction. The card/battery cover does not completely close when shut. A shame when everything else functions as it should.

Good quality product for an inexpensive digital camera
There are enough excellent features with this camera to set it up as exactly how you would like. Easy to transfer images to your home computer. If you have large fingers, the controls might be an issue with you. For the price range, your not going to get any better quality digital camera. The recommended case, Ruggard NP-210, is just big enough for the camera, no accessories can fit.

great features for the dollar
Simple and easy to use with a lot of features. Took off 1 star because when mounted on tripod, cannot connect usb cable.

Good camera for the price point.
I have to say it is a nice little pocket camera. The setup and adjustments are easy to do and it is slim and light. It is a bit slow on shots. The record delay is actually quite noticeable compared to my Canon Power Shot. The photo quality is good, but again not quite as sharp and vivid as the Canon Power Shot. Video mode is good and produces nice quality clips. Still have much more testing to do, but I would recommend for anyone that wants a nice pocket camera.

Fishing Bag Camera Does It's Job
Bought this Sony point and shoot to carry in my fishing bag. Used it right away. Happy with results. Practice shots in the house were a little disappointing. But, the one handed shot was clear and color was realistic enough for fish....

Compact and blurry
The camera looks good, it has simple interface and good features, but it really lacks where it counts the most: image quality. Every pixture is soft and a bit blurry. I understand one has to cut corners to come up with an inexpensive camera, but image quality is actually worse than from a cell phone.

Dissapointed
I bought this for my husband and the images are just bad and soft. My thinking is that 20 MP is too much for this tiny sensor. I have tried everything in post and every setting on this camera, and it isn't as good as his old Canon powershot. I'm a Sony person -- I love my A7r, but this model is so disappointing.
