I couldn't believe it...
I asked the kind gentleman at B&H for a point and shoot that would take great pictures inspite of my total ignorance of photography. My go-to camera was a Canon G-10. The man said: This is an expensive camera but it will do what you're asking for. Well, I couldn't believe it but this camera takes the most awesome pictures I have ver seen. Period. Just the best pictures I have ever seen. I use the camera taking trip pictures, macro of watches and pocket knives, and whatever I feel like photographing.

The One You'll Use Most
Bottom line: Worth every penny. I prefer my Nikon FX DSLR and nice lenses. But they're bulky to travel. This Sony is the perfect combo of portability and quality. I've tried cheaper pocket cameras from Nikon and Canon. I'll never go back now. Among the selling points: Excellent image quality for a small sensor, flash that's easy and sufficiently powerful to bounce off ceilings, good battery life, EVF when in bright sunlight, full manual controls and smart automatic settings that get that quick snap.

image quality
this camera is heavy for a point and shoot and somewhat awkward to use. The screen is not completely utilized to show the image. There is a black bar at the bottom giving f stop, shutter speed and iso. Totally unnecessary. Finally I don't like the images it produces. It emphasizes highlights and oversaturates to the point where details are lost in fusion of color. The autofocus is also slow. My old canon s 95 produced a more pleasing image although the lens on this camera is somewhat sharper.

WOW!
Small but powerful; I carry it everywhere. Shoots RAW Set WB, ISO, Burst, Focus mode, f-stop, Zoom, Brackets, Bulb, Flash, ND, Manual, A, S, and auto, and more more, more. Images are as good as my D800e as measured by my Spyder Lenscal. I have 4 Nikon DSLRs but 50% of my images are now SONY. My four Panasonic Point and shoots are with a neighbor, a grandson, the trash and returned to B&H. Never again after dealing with Panasonic repair. I found it: the Sony-Cyber shot DSC-RX100 III

Best pocket sized camera ever
Have downsized over the years and my last camera was a 1 pound Lumix G6 which I loved. But traveling with a strap around my neck and a bag on my belt became old fast. I became envying my wife pocket Point and Shoot but I needed something higher tech. The RX100 has all the bells and whistles of my Lumix Mirrorless camera and more in a truly pocketable camera. I am thrilled at having a top of the line camera in my pocket. The price is steep but I think it will be wth it.

Great All Purpose Family Camera
Had a Canon Rebel for years that I loved. My son accidentally damaged it, so I needed a good replacement, without all of the bulk. I thought I would stick with a Canon point and shoot, but a professional photographer friend recommended this camera highly. I am so glad that she did. I love this camera! Easy to use and the quality of photos is amazing! Very small and light weight, perfect to bring along for great family photos. A bit pricey, but worth the extra $$.

Small But Powerful
A small and light camera, that's easy to carry around, and which shoots great photos and video. Previously, I used a Canon G1X as my easy-to-carry camera. The Sony is even easier to carry because it's smaller and lighter. I prefer the results it produces. Equally nice color with a little better detail for photos and noticeably better videos than the Canon produced. Wi-Fi was easy to set up. The zoom range is somewhat limited but still seems to be adequate for me.

Excellent snapshot camera
I bought this for times when I don't want to carry my full DSLR kit around. I love it so far, and am impressed with the image quality. The only thing I don't like is the placement of the movie and menu buttons. The movie button can be deactivated unless in movie mode, but I find the lower part of my thumb hits the menu button too often while holding the camera. A minor quibble that will most likely disappear as I get more used to it. Expensive, but worth it.

Exremely happy, it is amazing
I use it mainly for short trips or places that I may go to and don't want to lug a big camera. It replaced 2 other compact cameras that I have and it has the best features of both cameras plus quite a bit more it seems the features are endless, and yes the quality of the pics are very good and the videos are tremendous for such a compact camera. But you would that what you paid for the camera that they would include the grip instead of having it as a option

Don't expose it to sea air. goodluck getting it repaired
This is an amazing camera but extremely fragile. Sea air exposure will make it malfunction. you dont have to get it went to make the circuit go haywire. Sony recently changed repair centers from florida to some place in PA. It is not an official sony repair center. It's a random repair center that repairs any camera. Google the location and you will see complains from other users from different brands. so goodluck getting it repaired properly and promptly.

A great little gem
you can expect great things from the little gem: good image quality but don't expect MFT or APSC quality still noisy at ISO 1600 and above solid build handling could be improved with leather skin or optional grip good video nice EVF even though not too large and bright as MFT or APSC best all around little pocketable camera DOF is aplenty, good for landscapes/macros; not so good for portraits, subject isolation Zoom great at wide, a bit short on tele end

Amazing Little Camera!
As someone who has made a living from photography for over 30 years, I was more than impressed with the abilities of this pocket camera. It can't do everything but what it does do, it does extremely well. The zoom is a bit short but it makes up for that in other areas such as great close ups and a champ in low light! The colors and contrast of the jpegs are so good that I find that I need to little or nothing to the files after taking the photos!!

Probably better than I am giving it credit for
I am a point and click user and need it for my work. I am not the most experienced user and use automatic settings. Size, speed are awesome. Quality is good although I have still not figured out how to optimize my pictures in my bad light settings. I am not happy with the wireless features. They are a bit cumbersome and I m not the biggest fan of their sony software that is required for syncing. Maybe this will change as I gain more experience.

Excellent
I am not a camera expert, but I have found this camera very easy to use and with excellent features that are explained in the menu and easy to figure out. I have used the camera to shoot video of wrestling match and to take still pictures and action shots. It connects easily to the computer and makes uploading the pictures simple and fast. I wish it could zoom in closer, but I also understood that to be a drawback of buying a compact camera.

Tack sharp lens.... Love Zeiss optics...
I'm impressed with how well the metering adjusts both to truly low light and extreme backlighting. Plus the Zeiss lens is outstanding. I've been looking for a replacement to the Yashica T4 for years -- and this is an amazing compact camera, great diopter adjustment for the rangefinder, full range LCD viewer for low angle and overhead shooting. It will be very easy to keep this with me all the time. Really glad I bought the second battery.

Great Travel Camera
I use a Nikon D300s most of the time but when we need to travel light I needed something more compact. The RX110 III was recommended to me by a professional photographer I know and it turned out to be an excellent choice. It's very light and compact but has many of the features of an SLR. The quality of the pictures I've taken so far is excellent. Hard to beat the list of features this camera has in a compact camera and at this price.

So easy and so good!!
I am a recreational photographer who also has a SLR with 3 lenses. I wanted a good compact camera for traveling and hiking. I had the MK2 which I loved and decided to upgrade mainly for the built in EVF. I have slight eyesight issues in the sun, so this has solved my big problem. I think the quality of the pictures is fantastic! It is worth every penny! I wish they included a comprehensive user manual rather that a simplified guide.

very satisfed
Great compact camera. I use it for family event photos and outing when a DSLR is too bulky to bring along. Great for when travelling light as well. Love the functionalities packed into this compact camera. Decent bokeh achieved and fast lens. Love the pictures produced in low light situation. Wish it could be a little slimmer. Price point is not so great as well. Canon just released the G7X which is similar but $ cheaper.

Don't leave home without it.
This little gem goes with me everywhere, I take more pictures now and im loving it. The adjustable monitor gives me a lot of flexibility, allowing me to shoot from different angles without having to kneel on wet ground or having to look for something to stand on to get that higher vantage point. I feel very comfortable using this camera for street photography and scouting out areas that I might revisit at a later date.

Best Pocket Camera yet!!
This is my always by my side camera. This is my 3rd Sony RX100, I have enjoyed the original RX 100, the mark 2 and now the stunning Mark3. The lens is terrific as is the EVF, for me this package has everything I need to carry everywhere, sure a longer zoom would be great but to get the super fast lens would make the package too large. The image quality is great and the ease of use very operator friendly. I love it!!

Exclnt Images, Love the Size
Finally, a real camera that really fits in my pocket. I carried it with me at all times in vacation, and I got photos I otherwise wouldn't have gotten. Yes, I always have my cell phone, and it takes pretty decent photos, but the ability to one-hand the RX100 let me get shots I'd never have gotten with my phone. Exclnt image quality. Control over shutter and aperture make a huge difference. Totally love this camera.

Great camera but I have battery quibbles
The battery life of this camera is really bad. I have to walk around with at least 3 extra batteries for an afternoon of shooting. The new pull-out electronic view finder is a really great addition but it is easy to nudge it back with your eyewear or brow and it goes out of focus. It's easy to fix but annoying. The screen settings are still a hidden myriad mess...perhaps the next version will offer a touch screen.

Very nice
Great images, excellent resolution, excellent for existing light shots and as a walking around camera. Ability to save in RAW format is wonderful. Good battery life, nice feel. Very fast response time. Press the shutter and there is no delay. It is like in the old days with film cameras. Like all small cameras flash output is OK but not great, but that is not what this camera is for. Try it, you'll like it

Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 III Digital Camera
This will go down in camera design history as a landmark. Its picture taking abilities are the equal or better than many professional digital cameras costing twice as much yet it is small as a pack of cigarettes. Would have gotten 5 stars but it is a complicated machine with a bit of a learning curve which pays off with high picture quality. Menus could be clearer and instruction manual is not much help.
