The learning curve gets in the way of the great photos I am expecting, but occasionally I break through the curve and can only say...WOW.

3 Thumbs Up!
I waited as long as I could for the RX10 V to be released but finally could wait no longer to upgrade my aging RX10 III, and so purchased the IV. This is good news for anyone else waiting for the V the new version of anything comes out shortly after I break down and buy, so the V should be available very soon. I mostly shoot wildlife video and really liked my III (especially the lens), and am already loving the IV (especially the better focusing)... Show More

All-aroung great camera!
This is by far the best camera I ever owned. It focuses almost instantly and holds resolution even at full 600mm zoom. Be prepared for a learning curve because of the myriad features and controls, but once you get the hang of it, you'll love the results. I took the photos of the chickadee, the tufted titmouse and the pileated woodpecker in my first hour outdoors with my new camera.

Extraordinary Camera
This camera is so full featured and capable that I am tempted to sell off my entire Sony Mirrorless body snd lens outfit. The optical quality of the lens is superb and results at 600 mm compare favorably to what I take with the Sony 200-600G. Once configured, the camera is easy to operate. My only gripe is that I wish it used the same higher capacity battery as the a7riii/iv. I intend to buy every subsequent model of the RX10 as soon as they are released. This camera really is a do it all device.

Good cam with great electronics, function and optics but ...
... zoom is motorized and uses flimsy mechanics that needlessly drains battery - even with good care be prepared to write off your investment between 5 to 10 years; ... environmental sealing inadequate - no peace of mind shooting in rainy and dusty situations; All in all, 1.5k price point no longer supported four years into the market.

newbie to photography
I am new to photography, but love all the features of my new RX10IV. Still getting used to it. I will use it for birding in spring.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC -RX10 IV Digital
I was excited to see what this camera could do...having heard such good things about it. I found that the continuous focus was not as effective as I need. Very good for stable subjects, but for tracking birds (for instance) did not measure up. And, the menu is pretty difficult to navigate and set up. The battery does not last very long during a shoot.

Excellent Camera
Extremely Sharp images while focus tracking. Excellent Lens Sharpness as well as image stabilization. The camera also shoots excellent high speed photos. Totally satisfied. 10/10 to Sony for this camera

Great camera
Great camera. When traveling overseas I leave the Canon stuff home, due to weight restrictions. Only problem with Sony is their manual for the camera, or lack of manual. $1,600. for a camera and no manual. Come on Sony, you have a great product and no manual on the fine features it has. Have to order a manual to learn about the camera.

Marvelous
Great camera for someone learning the craft. Easy to setup and use.i don't know anything about the best. But this has to be one of them.

Unmatched Versatility
As a camera geek, I own (and have owned) a lot of cameras. The main advantage of this camera is its unmatched versatility. It does it all. Macro is spectacular, zooming in on subjects far away is exceptional, video is great, and picture quality in everything but very low light is excellent. And even in very low light pictures are very acceptable because it has a much faster lens than most kit lenses. The camera is addicting in that it is fun to u... Show More

Early use experiences
Early in my use I find the camera what I expected based upon other Cyber-Shot cameras I own and the specifications. Biggest limitation is learning how to control its features. Thus far, automatic mode is doing a good job with mostly indoor event shooting and a couple of on-board flash pictures. Focus is right on and viewfinder works well in either of its modes, that is, viewfinder mode only in darkened venues. More experimentation needed but thus far a good choice.

Wow! Professional camera!
This camera has so many features that it will take me a long time to learn them all. The zoom feature took a few attempts to get it working correctly. Found reading the manual solved it. (Smiles!) The zoom is what makes this camera! It zoomed into a farm a mile away and looked great in the picture. I was amazed at the zoom quality! The camera is large and takes a little to get used to it, but, not too heavy when shooting. The controls are laid ou... Show More

Fantastic camera!
I have been using my new camera for about 3 weeks. The original set up would have given me fits had I not been under the watchful eye of a friend with the same camera. Once everything was set, it was a few days until I really felt completely at ease, and from then it has been a miracle instrument. I have take mostly candid shots and am getting marvelous results. It's the most exciting camera I have ever owned! I really love and yes, respect it for the versatility.

4.5 rating if I could!
This is my 4th cross-over camera and its great so far - but I haven't used in for much other than kids Homecoming photos and HS volleyball games. I have two dings, but I could be using it wrong as I'm new to Sony cameras! 1) It takes great photos - FAST! But, in sport mode, I can not select a focus spot on the screen. It will instantaneously focus on the nearer object while in continuous shooting. What happens is that I'm capturing a volleyball s... Show More

Best camera on market right now!
Although the initial set up is fairly complex, once completed the camera is truly a pleasure to use. It has made photography fun again and the images are amazingly sharp and details. I have owned three digital slrs and several point and shoot models as well but this is best of the lot. The 1 sensor can be configured to provide 1680mm zoom that yields needle sharp images for the full zoom range that cannot be matched for twice the price of an interchangeable lens camera.

Spectacular camera...
The DSC RX10 Mark 4 is heavy.... sort of like a brick. But it is compact and..... well, the shots from this 600mm f/4 lens with image stabilization and all the rest.... are beyond spectacular. Hard to believe that, through the magic of electronic wizardry, a 600mm lens could be this compact and weigh a fraction of what a real 600mm would be. Astonishing....

Don't Leave Home Without It
Well worth upgrade from the III. I take this camera everywhere. Latest auto-focus is Sony's best by far, just as quick as A7iii and there are three drive modes: slow, normal and fast. Tracking is amazing. Touch screen is limited pretty much to focus. I actually prefer non-touch, especially for wildlife. In the winter with gloves or cold fingers, a touch screen is not going to be of much use anyway. Two nitpicks: removing the SD card a bit difficu... Show More

Great camera!
You have to keep in mind that this is a 1 sensor camera with a super zoom lens. And for what it is, it is terrific! I like to use for short hikes and walks with my dog, and also short tourist-type trips. I try not to go over 1600 iso and in certain conditions even thats pushing it. I probably wont use this camera much indoors or in the late evening or at night. And it really doesnt compete with my full frame Sony. Other then that, its a great camera!

Exposure compensation wheel placed wrong etc.
I have had the camera for about 1 year. Generally it is a very good camera, but the price considered, it should be! My most negative comment is the placement of the exposure compensation wheel. Why Sony has decided to put it at the edge of the top of the camera is hard to understand. I often experienced that the wheel had moved, rubbing against my body when carrying the camera, resulting in wrong exposure. This could have easily been solved by ma... Show More

If you want to do pro level photography/filmmaking but do not have thousands of dollars to invest in a camera and lenses, I strongly recommend the RX10 mk4. Check out Wildlife Filmmaking 5 on YouTube for stills and video shot with the RX10.

Disappointed!
Purchased this recently for a honeymoon vacation to Costa Rica. The two day shipping was nearly a failure as item requires a signature and despite several requests to get Fed Ex to hold at the terminal they kept attempting to deliver to my house. I was hoping this Sony would compete with the Nikon D7500 and 200-500mm lens I typically use for nature photography. It didn't. I found low light performance to be poor, resulting in very grainy backgrou... Show More
