WOW

Oct 18, 2015

Got this as a replacement for my Sony A65V. So glad I did. The photo quality and rapid focus are much better. I love the many focus points and ability to zoom focus. It does seem to eat batteries faster but that is a small sacrifice for such great pictures.

Wow !! What a Package !!

Oct 14, 2015

Ordered this kit a couple weeks ago, and all I can say is Wow!!. First time Sony buyer but long time Minolta user, and this camera is just incredible. EVF is amazing with its clarity and adjustable displays. As I now wear glasses, the view finder is spot on, crystal clear, and live view adjustments just incredible. Can't say enough. 16-50 2.8 kit lens, along with the battery grip is one heck of a package. Still exploring its many capabilities, bu... Show More

Flagship apsc camera

Sep 1, 2015

I bought this camera as an upgrade from my Sony A65 and I am very impressed with the image quality. The new sensor in this camera is a very noticable improvement. Better sharpness, contrast and dynamic range. I love this camera. It also has every feature I could want - 3 or 5 shot HDR's in various exposure steps, 8000th sec shutter speed, fully articulated screen, same viewfinder as th A99. I could go on and on. I would buy this again in a heartbeat.

Great Camera

Sep 1, 2015

I shoot a lot of photos -- both of night sky, and of sports. I previously had the a65, but upgraded. The mega pixels are the same (24) so I knew that would be similar, but this camera is an upgrade in countless other ways. The focus is much faster, it also tracks the subject a bit better. The auto white balance is better, which makes sports photos much faster to process. You are getting a crop sensor camera that acts like some of the pro cameras.... Show More

Excellent APS-C sensor

Aug 25, 2015

I was upgrading my Sony Alpha-700 camera to this Alpha 77-II body. I am using the new body with my older Zeis lenses. The camera is very easy to use either for standard photography or video. Because my Zeiss lenses are so heavy, I do not notice the lower camera weight. This camera is the top of the Sony APS-C line (it also may be the last of the series?). I was looking for the highest resolution APS-C camera body to use with the Zeiss lenses.

Great Camera

Aug 22, 2015

Since purchasing this camera three weeks ago I have used it to take in excess of a thousand photographs, not counting an overnight timelapse video. The photography has included long exposure work, event photography for clients, and some personal projects. So far the camera has worked flawlessly. I can't always say the same for my use of it, for there is a significant learning curve and the menus are different from my Sony A99V. The two cameras us... Show More

Absolutely love this camera!

Aug 20, 2015

Just upgraded to the a77ii from the a77. These are both excellent cameras. Both have focus peaking which I find very useful for fine tuning quickly & in critical focus situations. I use the a77 and now the a77ii for photographing lacrosse games. Shooting RAW in the continuous advance Hi mode with the focus capabilities gives me great results. Also use for landscape and love the color rendition. When I first went to an electronic viewfinder I didn... Show More

I had to think long and hard aout this purchase

Aug 13, 2015

I had to think long and hard before making this purchase. I currently own a Sony Alpha A55v and am very happy with it. But I wanted a second body so I change lenses less often. So should I buy a good used A55 or step up my game and cost and pop for the A77II. Well I bought the A77II and I am very pleased. The pictue quality is excellent and it is fairly easy to adapt to after using the A55. But it is enough different you need to practice a bit. T... Show More

I'm having fun with this camera

Jul 28, 2015

I bought this to be my 2nd camera. I already own the A57. I was concerned about this being a larger body and my small female hands not being able to handle it, but so far it's not been problem. I didn't have a huge learning curve since it is similar to the A57. I paired this with the Tamron 150-600mm lens and I have taken some great handheld wildlife shots. This combination is not something I can hike around with, but walking around my property is fine. I'm not experienced enough to nitpik any annoyances.

Very happy a77mII Owner

Jul 16, 2015

The a77mII is a great all around camera. I am a long time Sony camera owner and upgraded from the a77 to the a77mII and there are no regrets. I read the reviews before making the purchase and all the hype was true! Very happy with the camera and B&H shipped it fast and free so I ccould get my hands on it quickly! Thanks B&H!

Love this Alpha II

Jun 25, 2015

Great design. A very versatile camera, for any aspect of photography. Used for outdoor photos, wildlife, dogs, people, AND my favorite: abstract photos, using one of the many settings available. Experimenting with different lenses, Sigma,Tamron, Minolta and Rokinnon. Replaced one of my A-65's with this unit, I'm glad I did. I will update this review.

Met expectations

Jun 20, 2015

Take primarily wildlife and landscapes. The AF speed exceeded my expectations. Sony does not include enough pertinent info on the camera. No port for manual shutter release. Had to purchase remote system. Haven't figured out how to set this up as yet. The remote is built for Canon products.

I did a lot of research before buying this Camera, compare with Nikon and Canon models, reading reviews, watching videos, all the pros use Canon or Nikon, etc, etc. After spending some time learning how to use this camera I'm really happy of my decision. You can back focus, really good at high ISO, 12 fps, confusing methods of focusing but when you finally learn how to take advantage of the diverse focus methods works great, video quality is awes... Alpha a77ll DSLR body

May 28, 2015

I transitioned from Minolta to Sony camera equipment shortly after Sony bought out Minolta. My first Sony body was an Alpha a57 which I still use. In order to avoid damaging my longer lenses when I needed to switch to a smaller lens, I purchased this Alpha a77 ll body. I am setting up the camera menus now, and I will be working with the new body in a variety of shooting conditions over the next 5 weeks.

Big upgrade over the original A77

May 27, 2015

I've had the A77 for around three years and it's a very nice, serviceable camera. Low light performance was very poor however. The A77II has MUCH less noise at higher ISOs than the original, plus much better focus, larger buffer, and a more polished feel in general.

This camera is first class and I love it, well that was right up until the minute I got the error message, flashing hand with error, after trying figure out what the issue was I eventually found it, there was a fault with the steady shot and steady shot is very important on this camera, unfortunately I tried all the troubleshooting with Sony on line only to be told it needs to be sent in to a Sony repair center, still under warranty so no issues,... Great For Bird Photogrpahy

Mar 25, 2015

This camera is a significant upgrade from my previous one, (a65) and it's proving to be very good for birds in flight. This does take a bit of trial and error to get the settings optimized as there are a number of focus modes that you could use. But once you get comfortable with several of the modes it produces very crisp, clean shots. I like the burst speed in the RAW format and it has a decent buffer. Put a fast card in it and it will hold up well. I think for all this camera can do, it's retail price is quite good and I look forward to using every time I go out to shoot.

Mark II as Great as its Little Brother

I already had the A77 mark I and I have been extremely happy with everything about it. I wanted an upgrade and like the full body feel of a heavy camear because it forces me to be a little more careful and the step up to the A77II was ideal. I would say almost 95% of the camera is the same, but the upgrades are why I purchased it. I used A700 & A77 before getting A77II, so I thought I know all about this camera before I got it, but it still pleasantly surprised me with the performance, high ISO photos and improvements over the previous models. At this moment, there is no other camera in the world I'd rather have to cover almost every need of a photographer.

I have owned five A77s and I now own two A77MkIIs. Needless to say, I like this family of cameras. I especially like the EVF and in-body stabilization. I've also owned the A99, but I am much happier with the A77MkII. I love the title LCD, quiet shutter, AF system. Downside, Sony seems to be abandoning the Alpha line of cameras on favor of the mirrorless line.
