tiny issues, but they are trumped
For someone looking to build a camera rig for low budget cinematic applications like short films, events, interviews, etc. this thing is awesome. so much is right with this camera I'm only going to mention the negative things. Switching from video to stills is a little slow. crop factors and sharpness change pretty drastically depending on video settings. firmare is a little full, and not great for quick changes.

Love this DSLR
I've been waiting for the GH4 for a while now and I have to say it's totally worth the wait. There are so many options with it. 4K and 1080HD looks great and the ability to shoot 96fps slo-mo in 1080 is great. All this and more in a camera that costs $*. Definitely a game changer.

The MKIII Killer
- 4k video recording with stunning quality and low budget. - Good photos but with little spatial resolution - similar operating the video camera

So far an amazing camera!!!
It's not just 4K. The addition of peaking, zebras, shutter angle have made this a far better to use video camera than the GH3. For stills, autofocus is improved, silent mode goes up to ISO 3200. Even subtle handgrip change makes it much more comfortable to use.

Amazing for video
I bought this camera for its much-touted video capabilities, and I am so far, not at all disappointed in the quality of its output. Panasonic has taken great pains to create an interface that really works for video as well, and so the camera is really great to use

Buy this camera. Period.
Nothing that hasn't already been said. Outrageous camera, outrageous price. I'm using it for 100% video so I can't speak on behalf of this camera in terms of still photography, but based on the video performance I'm sure it can beat out anything in this price bracket. Canon, step aside.

All that it's cracked up to be!
I was in the pre-order pounce position until this baby arrived. I haven't taken a single picture on it as I'm using it for video; so, keep that in mind; but from a video perspective the 4K or the HD 200mbs resolution is incomparable! I had to buy a Tiffen Diffusion filter to address the crazy amount of sharpness on faces.... ends up being too sharp for female figures... but I mean, hey, this is a problem I rather have! The best value for money. I... Show More

Great camera for video production!
I work in video production for TV, web and film delivery and the GH4 is better than most cameras out there for detail and low light performance. 1080p has a little aliasing so I use it mainly in 4k mode at 24p and then downsize to 1080p if needed. The 1080p mode has no artifacts except for more noise at 1080p EX Tele Converter mode. You loose more crop but then you gain artifact free no aliasing or moire 1080p video at up to 60p for nature and ot... Show More

The must have Camera to have
There is not much I can say that hasn't already been said. I bought this as an upgrade from my GH2. For only $$ I get 4x resolution, color and FPS. I use a Rokinon 16mm with this and it shoots great video. Looking to upgrade to a Metabones Speedbooster and Rokinon 25mm 1.5T in future. I think this combo will help with depth of field and boken. Regardless this is a must have to Indie Filmers.

Incredible camera for incredible price
I have been waiting for Canon to release a camera with these capabilities, and nothing ever came about so when I saw this camera I knew it was time to switch. There is so many pros about this camera one being a 4k camera for $*... Incredible. My only problem is the lack of a speedbooster with electronic control, which I am waiting patiently for metabones to release.

Great all-around camera for insane price
This camera has almost no faults, as far as I'm concerned. Here's what I love about it: -4K is a great balance of image quality and file size. Sure, it's compressed but it doesn't really show. It grades really well. You don't have to invest in a brand new workflow to get a great 4K image. Even if you deliver in 1080p (and most of us will), the downscaled 4K is a treat.-Low light is pretty darn good. I've used the C100 and of course it can't match... Show More

Incredible Camera. Incredible Price.
I use the camera primarily for video. Even at 8 bit 4:2:0 the quality is exceptional. 4K video on this camera has more than exceeded my hopes and expectations.

Love it
Have owned both the GH2 and GH3. The GH4 has everything I loved about both previous generations and much more. The 4k footage gives you so much to work with in post production and grades nicely. Pulling stills from the 4k footage looks great as well and the 16mp photos are also great. I've been a big fan of M43 cameras for stills and with a bit more work than a full frame you can get close to the same results. Hoping lightroom adds GH4 support soon. Overall I highly recommend this camera for both photos and video on a professional level.

Amazing Camera!
I am completely happy with the gh4. The photo quality is much improved and noise reduction too. You get clean noise that actually looks cinematic instead of chromatic like on many others. The 4k video is amazing quality and the screen captures are perfect for stills. Finally! :)

Simply amazing camera
BH photo shipped it so fast and I had frees shipping. It came 3 days before expected. This is the best camera for the money right now. And the 4k cinema mode is amazing. I could write a full review on this bit there are already so many awesome reviews on this camera I won't even bother.

Absolutely AWESOME!
I primarily use this for video, but the stills are awesome as well. I have an all GH3 production company and I tell yeah, I can't wait until I can replace all of them with this thing. The GH4 looks and feels exactly like the GH3, but it's SO much faster in terms of.. everything. The Auto Focus is lightening fast, the auto Iso is great when shooting run-n-gun and going from dark area to sun shining bright afternoon. Yeah, I have a ND filter, but in putting this thing through it's paces, it works GREAT. Never bothered putting the ND filter on.

Big step up
This is my first B&H comment/review on a product. I'm thrilled to have my hands on a great video camera that costs little more than a good lens. Once you get acquainted the GH4 is pretty deep in features and image performance in all resolutions. I was ready to justify the purchase. And I was NOT disappointed. I have dozens of cameras including 3 5D's, MK2 &3, several other Canons, Panasonics(GH2 &3), Sonys and a couple pro video cameras. It seeme... Show More

Just Wow
I don't normally write reviews, but this camera is worth my time here. Image quality, OMG. Video quality, OMG. I had a glitch with the Panasonic lens that I bought for this camera. It was jittery with O.I.S. on or off - which sucked for video. I flashed the lens B.I.O.S. and now it is as smooth as silk. I have been researching 4K video for more than 6 months. This camera has been worth the wait. The footage is care free once it enters my workflow... Show More

For the price point this camera is outstanding! Originally I planned to use it as a second camera to my 5D3 for interviews and events but the more I play with it the more I feel my 5D3 is the 2nd camera. I shoot video professionally and shoot photos as a hobby. (for photography 5D3 is a far superior camera) ...

Ergo Power
Like many, I am mostly interested in the gh4 for video. I am a photographer shooting mostly Nikon, but have longed for higher frame rates for video. I received my gh4 on April 29th and I must say that early indications point to an excellent video and still camera. The GUI is straight forward with touch screen control in addition to dials and menus. I must admit that the evf viewfinder isn't as nice as a good optical viewfinder to me, but isn't ba... Show More
