Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II Mirrorless Micro Four Thirds Digital Camera (Body, Black)
UPC's:
OM-D E-M5 II
Through the years, past 40 years or so, I have had every brand of camera, including Leica, from mid range all the way to the top of the line. My favorite was always Nikon and in recent years I slowly moved into the mirrorless arena. I enjoyed the latest Sony Alpha full frames, the A7R and A7S, are absolutely remarkable, and best for my needs. One day, a friend asked me to evaluate his new Olympus E-M5 II. My first impression; amazing quality, sol... Show More

Be Careful with the OMD EM5 MKII
I purchased this camera from B & H in July 2015. In July 2018, three years from purchase, the ON/OFF button stopped working, and the only way to turn the camera on or off was to remove the battery. Prior to this occurring, I was thoroughly happy with the camera. It was a joy to use. Obviously, the camera is outside warranty. I called Olympus Customer Service and was advised that regrettably, I would have to send the body in for repairs and pay th... Show More

Wonderful camera with a seemingly steep learning curve
As with many of you, I decided to downsize from my FF gear to an ILC, for a myriad of reasons, but primarily due to logistics. While the Olympus M5 Mark II isnt as small as my Leica typ 109, it is easily manageable. My first micro four-thirds camera and I truly enjoy the challenge. The functions of this camera paired with a truly complex menu system are well worth the effort. I married the Mark 5 with the 12-40mm 2.8 lens in order to construct an... Show More

2-years later? Still SUPER
I thought I'd update my review from 2 years ago because I'm more in love with this camera than ever! Although I still haven't mastered all its capabilities, I am still blown away by everything I can do with this camera. Fireworks with the live comp mode are outstanding. Took the camera and the 14-150 II to Niagara Falls. The weatherproofing of the camera and lens let me get up close and personal to the falls -- Maid of the Mist and Cave of the th... Show More

Fun alternate to my D800
Bought this as a lightweight alternative for when I don't want to carry my full frame dslr and heavy glass. It replaces a Sony 4-100888 which was ok, but not sturdy and just plain dull to shoot with. The E-M5 ii is a whole different story when combined with good glass. Totally engaging, yet small enough and solid enough to keep with me most of the time. At first I was apprehensive about only 16mp, but the recalled my former, beloved d300 performe... Show More

OM-D E-M5 Mark 2 Camera Review
1. I'm avid adventurer and traveler thus carrying this camera is amazing because of how light it is! My genre of is landscape and travel photography. 2. I love the 5-axis stabilization. I have taken shots at 2 seconds (most) handheld and there was very little shake in the result. The photo quality is undoubtedly professional like. The weather sealed body is definitely an advantage as I have taken shots under the rain and there wasn't any damage t... Show More

Nice so far.
I enjoy the light weight. Auto focus is fast. Hand held pictures with 14-150 lens are much better than what i would get with my older nikon 5300 with 70-300 lens. it is a very nice upgrade given my needs. i go birding with my daughter and this combo improved our ability to get a good exposure with details to help us identify some species that we only saw jumping around in a tree for a few seconds during migration birding this week. very happy exc... I Love It
At first, I was going to regret purchasing this. I'm not a pro photographer, and I was previously using a Canon T3i. I wanted to move into the mirrorless level since my DSLR was really bulky to put into my bag. In the beginning, the functionality was different and I wasn't used to it. The electronic viewfinder was a bit strange, but I got over it. I love every feature of this body. The metal construction, the weatherproofing, and all the features... Show More

It will make you better!
This is an update to my previous review. I still love this camera after two years of owning it! More than that, its made me a better photographer. Yes the image stabilization is super and love all the lenses. But Im a better photographer because I take it out more than I did my old Nikon system. The weight factor proved to be a bigger deal than I originally thought. Practice makes perfect is indeed true. Because my 5 Mark II is so light regardles... Show More

So far so good
It does what it advertises. Got it with 12-40 f2.8. Wow! It is fast. Have not dive in for extensive use for video. Looking forward to use in the coming months with small project. Have no intention to logging around with tons of equipments and without the need to use heavy duty stabilizer, huge plus. Having been use both EM5 mk1 and EM1, the image is in on the bar with the siblings. As usual the m43rd is limited on its ISO performance vs larger se... Show More

Finally! 1980s OM-1 size is back!
After more than a decade of DSLR or similar type cameras, Olympus made their way back to their truly OM-1, 2, 3, 4 compact size with this camera, but it is so, so much more! I no longer miss the handling of my 1980s and 90s OM SLRs. I havent run it through all of the paces yet, but did take some pictures of the moon. Image magnification helps significantly to manual focus on the distant moon for bracket shots where I do not want to re-focus for ... Show More

Perfect performer
As an owner of OM-D E-M5. I'm very happy with Mark II as well. The important improvements (for my personal use): - Wi-fi remote control and display - Electronic shutter (complete silence for street / event photography) - Bundled mini-flash act as a commander for HP/HSS flashes (something E-M5 mini-flash didn't do). - Improved image stabilization. - Slightly better sensor. - More configurable buttons. - More flexible settings, so you can configure... Great functionality, bad engineering
Great stabilization, good focus, peaking has to be set up carefully for 3rd party lenses. If your insert an external mic, you can't use the swivel screen properly anymore for video at least. Have to find hacks to get shutterspeed and aperture displayed, while toy like video functions block the screen. All in all feels more like a toy then a tool.image quality i cant tell on photo level yet, as lightroom doesnt support the cam yet. As for video even all can be set manual, i did not find a great color/contrast balance setting yet. So there is a lot of potential for mark 3.

Technically great, fragile like a leaf
The camera handles beautifully and functions far better than the Canon 30d I am upgrading from. Unfortunately in the 3 months I have had it, using it for two weeks, it has broken twice (the function lever broke off on the first day I used it, after being repaired one of the control dials broke after another 4 days of use). Olympus has been unwilling to help with shipping (I live outside of the US) and repairs took about a month the first time around. If you plan on using this for more than light duty around town I would recommend searching a hardier camera.

My favorite camera!
Before purchasing this camera, I rented at least one pro micro 4/3 camera offering from each of the manufacturers. The 5-axis stabilization that is built into this camera works magic. And the user interface, ergonomics, tilting screen, and fantastic lenses of the Olympus all won me over. This is one solid camera. If you are looking for a professional micro 4/3 camera, look no further. I am looking forward to whenever a Mark III of this or a Mark II of the EM-1 comes out, hopefully with higher resolution. But this is more than capable in the meantime.

OLYMPUS KEEPS RAISING THE BAR
Two things I must say first: I am not a pixel hound and I am not ready for 4K video, so this camera works just fine for me. It is fully featured, light, elegant, easy to work with and with a plethora of fantastic lenses and lens adaptability, how can you go wrong? I think the price will drop slightly before the Holidays, so if you are looking for a camera that takes great pictures (and videos too), then I highly recommend this one. The BH PHOTO consistently delivers high quality products at a great price. And no, they did not pay me to say that.

Stop working after two years
It's a good camera and I like the size and image quality but after year and a half start with some problems. First, the time between you press the shutter and you take the picture starts to get too long, then the time to see the picture was super long. Later, some buttons stop working sometimes and the video start to become blurry. Now the on/off button doesn't work and I been forced to remove the battery because the camera remains turned on no matter what. The worst is that Olympus has no service in Chile. truly dissapointed.

Awesome Camera
A very versatile camera. It has many function buttons that can be set for whatever your needs are. I have had it for two weeks and have not found any problems with it. I did purchase a class for this camera which has been great in getting through the menu. The very thing I love about the camera- its ability to be set for many needs through the menu - is the very thing that makes it somewhat daunting. The menu is very deep. The two lenses that I purchased are the Olympus 12-24 f2.8 Pro and a 14- 150 f4-5.6II.

This is one solid camera!
Feels like I am holding a brick, without the weight. Have not taken too many photos, haven't had it long, but the 5 axis stabilization is something I can actually feel. A few photos at 150 (300 35mm), and even using digital 2x, the fpview through the view finder looks locked down with minimal movement. It is probably something I can adjust, haven't found it yet, but it seems to take longer than desired to wake up after it puts itself to sleep after a period of non-use. Overall, very happy with purchase.

Amazing camera that does it all
This is the 3rd Olympus camera I've bought, each one an upgrade from previous model. The E-M5 MarkII is by far the best camera I've ever owned. My Canon and Nikon are gathering dust as this is now my goto camera for most shooting situations. Coupled with the new Olympus 14-150 f4.0-5.6II lens there isn't much you can't shoot and shoot well. Not much of video shooter but the little bit I've done is high quality and extremely even due to the incredible new stabilizing system on this model.

A wonderful camera that renewed my interest in photography
I have owned the OM-D E-M5 Mark II for about 6 months now. Unlike the previous review, I have found the camera to be very easy to use and feature-packed. Unlike my previous DSLR camera, the OM-D E-M5 Mark II includes so many exciting features, like 4K time-lapse videos, live composite photography, HD video and more while delivering superb quality. Combining ease of use with incredible capabilities, the camera has gotten me excited about photography again. I would recommend it to anyone.

not ready yet but...
So far everything in this camera looks good but I most likely shouldve gone with a mirror type. Also I find that the menus on this are so deep that I need to go into them everytime to make sure Ive got things set upcorrectlywhich takes too much time allowing that genius/award winning shot to get away! Granted I havent learned to set up the Fn keys correctly so they do what I want/need them to do. So its going to be a long learning process before I get this rig or any rig down right.

Awesome.
Love this camera. Great color, endless customization, lightweight, small. Everything I wanted in a travel camera. Not the most user friendly design right off the bat, so I will take some getting used to. Bought this camera as a low profile travel companion to take into even the busiest cities and still feel comfortable carrying it. Would definitely recommend, especially for those who love to travel and explore. LOVE the weather sealing, wouldn't have purchased without it.
