Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II Mirrorless Micro Four Thirds Digital Camera (Silver, Body Only)

Totally Impressed!
I purchased the OMD E-M1 MII based on the advertised improvements in the focusing system to support BIF and sports photography. I have been nothing short of thrilled with my increased rate of keepers in my first week's testing of birds, dolphins, whales and seals on the California coast (the latter three taken aboard a catamaranat Channel Islands NP). I am using the new Panasonic 100-400, so part of my challenge is getting the right field of view... Show More

Exceeds my expectations and imagination
Two weeks in and already loving my choice. Moved from Canon DSLR to Olympus. Primary reasons were weight, speed and value. Hit a homerun on all three. Can really see and feel the difference in size and weight next to my friends DSLRs. Photographing birds at 15 and 60 fps is a joy and ProCapture adds capability I never even imagined. and the equivalent lenses 12-40 and 40-150 f2.8 Pro are a fraction of the price of Canon L lenses. Initial shots ha... Show More

IN LOVE
I. AM. IN. LOVE! Super fast, pairs perfectly with the 12-40mm pro lens. I think it does fantastic even in low light. There are so many settings on this camera, just be prepared to really take the time to learn the camera. It can be set up uniquely for any situation and once you learn the ins and outs, you can customize for your own workflow. I love the wireless photo transfer option. Keep in mind, I didn't realize this but it will only transfer J... Show More

Fabulous camera!
I've had this camera about a month and absolutely love it. I bought it so I could pass my Olympus OM-D E-M5 down to my partner?that was a great camera, but had a few shortcomings for me. In the past while hand-holding, I've had problems getting things sharp. With the OM-D E-M1, I've taken night shots and gotten things unbelievably sharp. While the menus are familiar to me, there are now several shortcuts to many of the menu items so you can quick... Show More

Great multipurpose camera!
Formal portraits, street, travel, landscape and sport photography; this camera can do everything with confidence! E-M1 Mark II is a feature rich and highly adjustable to your own style without overloading interface with buttons and gimmicks. All features are well thought out. I quickly adapted proshot mode to make nice pictures mid-action for my dancing kids. And I find high resolution mode quite useful for still images. I am looking forward to u... Show More

Genius successor to my much beloved E-M1
The new E-M1 Mark II is a more than worthy successor to my still in service E-M1. It is faster, quieter and in many respects easier to use than the original. There have been postings that the menu structure is difficult but I did not find this to be the case. There are certainly more menu items but the menu structure is familiar and presents a very similar submenu navigation. The resolution is noticeably improved as is the noise management. Signi... Perfect for my needs
This is my second Mark II...I had the E-M1 before, but this is a much more robust camera than that version. Some people have complained about the price, but if you compare it to a DSLR with comparable features, not only is the Mark 11 lighter and smaller, it is considerably cheaper, as well. It would be impossible to describe all the features of this camera--go to websites that offer in-depth reviews. In addition to being packed with features, th... Show More

Unbelievable Handheld Performance
I have photographed professionally for some 25 years and recently switched from Canon APS-C cameras to OM-D E-M1 Mark II for my hand held photography. The sharpness and quality of the images from this camera are equal to my tripod mounted Canon APS-C images. With a few presets, the color matches Canon's beautiful tones and the body can be set up to operate like my Canons - muscle memory is preserved. Better yet, I can capture low light compositio... Totally Cool
A worthy new flagship camera. A triumph in digital photography feature integration and design, the OM-D E-M1 Mark II rides the mirrorless sweet spot of modest size and extreme performance. Improvements in every feature add up to more than the sum of their parts. You see better, move faster, can shoot like never before. The result is a compact system that performs like an extension of your imagination. For me the better you can see the better you ... Show More

An inspiring camera and lens
Great tech inside. Wow software! Many people have agreed that the camera is so adaptable as to border on difficult, and that may be (I am not there yet), but conversely the camera will work beautifully right out of the box. A few tweaks, and boom, it is doing what you want! Excellent color, a ton of resolution, super sharp in lens and sensor, and crazy fast. Electronic viewfinder is surprisingly easy to get used to. Camera is as quiet as a rangef... Show More

great camera very fast
very fast camera. low light and noise seem better than e-m1 mk1. Autofocus is much better than pevious m4/3 - waiting for sports seasons to start up again. Lots of options in menu system. takes some time to learn, but the customization ability is a good thing. swivel screen - I think I like the old tilt version better because I can quickly look at it at an angle. new screen you have to open all the way to tilt it - works well when you are using i... A Professional Camera
This is the best Micro-4/3 camera I have owned. I own four others, all Panasonics, of various ages. While there is a steep learning curve for its operation, vs the Panasonic cameras, I will get used to it and the rather fussy menu system. I really like the small size of the camera for its professional build quality - it's a tank! The battery lasts a long time. I shoot other equipment including professional Nikon and Hasselblad cameras and lenses.... Show More

Very pleased.
Advanced amateur. I have had the mark II for 18 days and have taken 447 photos. I have only used it paired with the 40-150 f2.8 PRO and EX 14 extender. Most photos are birds. This combination is excellent for my use. Focus is very quick and accurate. I also have an E3 and an M1 - the mark II is a significant step up in performance. The similarity of controls with the M1 make the transition easy. The only negative (minor) is proximity of replay button with menu button - I sometimes press menu rather than replay. Overall I am very pleased with the mark II and look forward to using its features.

Amazing camera; with lightening fast focusing
Amazing camera body with many custom features. The included 35 page manual needs to be supplemented by printing out the full double sided 200 page online manual.Look at the Olympus teaching videos..They are very helpful. Then be prepared to spend quality time with this camera learning all of it's features. The body is light weight and very ergonomic. However the new Olympus 12-100 mm F4 IS lens is very heavy ; suggest you look at it before purchase. Fast 2 hour charger included but suggest you get several more batteries. And buy the 128GB type 11 SD card if you plan on doing a lot of video.

I very good sequel!
The EM-1 Mark II is a significant upgrade over it's predecessor. In shooting my sons' little league basketball games the continuous auto-focus is very, very good. It is significantly better at following my little guys than the old Mark I. Also the high ISO performance seems to be considerably better than the Mark I version. I really like the improved custom settings on the mode dial. The mark II also has some cool new tricks like the pro-capture and hi-resolution modes. It also retains the superior handling and usability of the Mark I. All in all, a fantastic camera, and I love it!

Features and performance on a higher level.
I'm shooting Olympus for 16 years. Finally I feel like the Mark II is a better camera than Nikon/Cannon. I shot my 90 to 250 F2.8 4/3rds with a 2X adaptor (35mm = 1,000mm @ F5.6) at 1/60 sec hand held without issues. I am not aware of any other camera that could do this. I used the pro-capture feature that captures 18 shots per second before the shutter release is pushed to capture images I would have missed. Also the electronic shutter option is completely silent. Generally the camera is just lightning fast. There are too many new features to review. Check out the youtube videos.

I will be adding a second body shortly
I use this as a travel system over my Canon gear when I travel by air. The mark II body is a very capable and robust unit that fits the needs of my travel with decent resolution, compact handling, and a good selection of solid lenses. The stabilization system is a very powerful aid to travel photography where one tries to reduce the reliance on a tripod to get those unique spontaneous images. I hope a firmware update will allow more release modes when using auto expose bracketing, currently only high speed mechanical shutter is supported which induces shake with longer lenses.

I LOVE this camera!
I have only used this camera for a few weeks but find that the IQ it gives me, both with PRO lenses and with the OLY 14-140 (an OK but not outstanding travel lens) is amazing. Major improvement over the OMD E-M1 which I have used for a couple of years. More new features than I may ever use but the menu system, generally, is well thought out. If you are used to the physical layout of the old E-M1 this camera body is almost exactly the same. No complaints at all so far. Looking forward to printing what I see on my computer!

Stabilization a wonder!
As others have mentioned the menus are quite complex and different than the 1st gen EM1. However the Super Control Panel has brought in several features that allow you to avoid most of the menus. Settings in the Super Control Panel is an example. I'm disappointed that the ProCapture Mode will only work on OLY lenses. So those looking at or owning the Panasonic/Lumix 100-400 lens will be disappointed. Huge gains in noise reduction, focus speed and stabilization make this a true professional grade camera.

Excellent camera with more features than you can imagine.
This camera is better than most photographers. It has more features than you can imagine. It is configurable in literally hundreds of ways. The image quality from its sensor is of professional caliber. Dynamic range and highlight/shadow recoverability has improved from the E-M1. More resolution and slightly less noise at high ISOs as well. There is almost nothing you can't do with this camera. If you can't make excellent images with this camera, it is you and not the camera that is the problem.

Awesome camera
I made the switch from Canon full frame and L lenses and have no regrets. I'm a photo enthusiast and I do not make a living with a camera. That being said I do most of my photography while on the move and in the woods and carrying the Canon with multiple L lenses was just a pain. I now have focal lenths from 12-300 (24-600 on the Canon) with fast aperatures than can go with me everywhere and no drop-off in image quality. Maybe not the system for everyone but certainly a great option for me!

Another Giant Leap
Having used Olympus OM-D Cameras for several years, I was look forward to this latest body and it is quite a step up from the E-M1 I've been enjoying. Well built and slightly larger so it fits in my hands better that the original. Better resolution and substantially quiter when using the mechanical shutter. But you can always stealth in silent mode too if you want it. Longer lasting battery and dual SD slots. If you're a fan on the line like I am, you won't be dissapointed.

Best upgrade so far
I have been using the Olympus four/thirds system for some time. Each new model has been an improvement over the last, but this Is an improvement on a new scale. The stabilization is great, and it's great to be able the to select exactly what kind of stabilization you need for a particular shot. The new pro capture is providing amazing shots for me. This camera has much to offer the pro or advanced amateur photographer...and it is just plain fun to use.

Technological Marvel!
This camera rocks! As a 'stills' shooter, there isn't much this camera 'can't' do. The specs and features speak for themselves. On one area of improvement needed would be with 'continuous focus' in 4k mode. Also, need to have 'auto ISO' when in Manual mode, while recording. Suspect these issues will be resolved through firmware updates. See this camera with all the 'Pro' series lenses purchased, to pretty much be all I'll need for quite some time.
