JVC HA-S160 FLATS On-Ear Stereo Headphones (Black)

JVC 'Flats' On-Ear Budget Stereo Headphone
Out of the box and with some break-in time, the sound is very forward, and weak in the bass. I found that this headphone was easy to EQ to a neutral sound, although the deep bass just isn't there. Still, most music, and even classic 'Tracker' organ music sounds pretty good with the right parametric EQ. The high frequencies are good up to the important upper treble harmonics. The tiny cables going to the earcups have no strain reliefs, and as I e... Show More

Good sound, not quite comfortable
Very good sound for the price. The earpieces are padded, but press too much on the ears, requiring adjustment every few minutes to relieve discomfort.

Snapped the first day
The first day that I got these headphones I placed them in my backpack after their first use. I walked back to my dorm and set my backpack down for the night. When I pulled them out of my backpack, they had already broke in half.

Great headphones. They are the only ones I will buy. Very comfy and great sound! I have bought from this site before. I am never disappointed.

Perk up Your Ears
These headphone are great for use with a video setup. They're much louder than the other headphones I've been using in that price range. I'm very impressed with the sound quality.

Poor Fit
Let's start with the positive - the sound quality of these inexpensive JVC headphones is quite good, especially considering the price. Highs are quite clean and they are very efficient, producing high volume off of very little power. They are also really light weight. On the negative side, the fit is much too tight, putting uncomfortable pressure on the outside of your ears. My head is average size. It would be extremely uncomfortable for anyone with a large head to wear these cans. Overall I can't recommend them, due to this fit issue.

Awesome for the price
These are great little headphones and the price is fantastic. Tuck nicely into a case or purse and produce surprising audio for the price and size.

Great for Digital Piano
I recently purchased a Casio Grand Hybrid digital piano ($3,500). Because this piano's internal amplification is relatively low, I found that I was in need of headphones that can get the full sound of the piano without maxing the volume out, which can cause some distortion of sound. The professional grade (and much more expensive) headphones weren't allowing me adequate volume without maxing out the piano's volume control. Not good. Surprisingly,... Show More

Great choice for assisted listening
Good replacement/upgrade for our church's assisted listening receivers--fairly high output, easy to store, easy to keep clean, and not too expensive to lose.

Sound is fine. But wire is very very weak.
These haven't held up very well. The wire inside of the cable casing is very very prone to getting broken which renders the nice speakers useless. The last pair had one speaker that quit after 2 months light use and then the other speaker quit after another week. These sound great, are nice and light, comfortable, but the skimping on robust enough wire will always mean they quit after a time.

Great traveling headphones
The JVC flats are a great bargain in the low price headphone market. They are lightweight, stylish, comfortable & have clear, balanced sound. They are perfect to take on a long distance plane, train, bus ride. Closed back design & minimal sound leakage combined with the above mentioned qualities = a steal! They do have 2 minor flaws. First of all, they can be played fairly loud but distort if blasted at high volume. Second, they are not heavy duty in construction & can break if not handled carefully. Well worth the price paid.

Great portable headphones
If you're looking for reasonably comfortable, lightweight headphones with pretty decent sound, these are for you. These things are really pretty comfortable, and the sound is good, especially for being so inexpensive. I can wear these for hours while I exercise or do physical work and my only complaint is a bit of sweat in the ear. They are also very durable. They do demand a bit of break-in, perhaps 8-10 hours of use before the sound peaks; however, this is not uncommon for new headphones.

They Work Well
1) Quality of sound is so good I prefer to use these with my iPhone 5s which I use to do field and phone interviews. 2) Inexpensive but good quality sound - but I have to be careful because they seem lightly constructed.

Extremely Satisfied for the Price
I ordered these headphones to use at work. The sound quality is surprisingly good compared to two prior sets that cost more and had very poor sound quality. Can be somewhat uncomfortable for long-term use though.

The only ones I buy
These headphones have great sound and amplification. The band isn't the sturdiest thing in the world, so this is the third pair I've bought in about five years, but I don't even care. The bass is nice but not too heavy (I can't stand heavy bass). I originally fell in love with these because my computer audio jack is screwed up and is only stereo if I plug headphones in halfway, and of course then the sound comes over the laptop speakers too. Good value headphones
Considering that I got this pair for the price that I did, their sound quality is pretty good, and the padding is pretty comfortable. They're good to travel with, being lightweight and with the earpieces able to swivel so that the whole thing folds flat. They've been holding up pretty well too, especially for being carried around a lot. The only reason why they're 4 stars and not 5 is that the cord is a bit shorter than I'm used to, and though th... Not bad for the price.
I use this in the office while editing videos. The sound quality is good, and the ear pieces are comfortable- I like how they fit over my entire ear. The head piece isn't so comfortable, if it were thicker or padded it would be perfect. But for the price, I really can't complain. I pesonally own a $ pair that is super comfortable in all areas, but I had to stay within budget.
