FiiO A1 Portable Headphone Amp (Silver)
Does the job
I bought this for my hard-of-hearing mother-in-law for watching the TV with headphones and leaving the TV's speakers off (otherwise she'd have to blast the TV). I connected the TV's audio out RCA connectors to a crossover to 1/4 stereo jack, then to this device, and then to the headphones. This allowed her to amplify the TV audio out so she could hear it. It works fine and is very clear. The three buttons (on/off, volume up, volume down) are a li... Show More

Purchased two, one arrived opened and resealed with tape.
I have earlier versions of this device and used them for many years. I purchased two new A1s to replace my old units and found the packaging for one A1 had been opened and resealed with scotch tape, so this one item was not new. This is the first time in many years that I've received an item from B&H in questionable condition, so I'm hoping that this is an anomaly.

Good for only certain uses
I bought this amp for use with my recently purchased HD8 DJ headphones thinking it would make a difference when plugged into my phone. It didnt, if anything the sound became slightly more bassy and more muddy when compared to sound right out of my S8+, which is more than powerful for my Sennheisers (95 ohm impedance) . That being said, my XPS 13 cannot drive the headphones at all and for that use, it works great as a cheap amplifier. I would onl... Show More

Awesome little amp
This does more than amp up the volume, it crystallizes the sound. There are four settings that make audio more alive and engaging all without noticeable hiss or distortion. The wired connection is still awkward like a wired connection will be but the extra sonic experience is worth it!

FiiO A1 Portable Headphone
Overall good product. However, it will not charge using any kind of power bank. You must use a wall outlet (requires 5V). And you cannot authenticate your serial number on their website using your smart phone. Only on a computer browser.

Needed some more decibles
once I found out something like this was available, that is headphone amps I started doing some research on them. Seen some in the $$$.00 price range and not knowing what they would actually do got a little apprehensive about them until I run across Fiio. Price was right and what I read about them I said why not. All I wanted to do was boost the sound up from my tv when using my headphones. This little guy does what it said it would do, in fact m... Use them for low level TV sound out
I use the tiny amps to increase the preamp voltages out of my Sony TV (TV sound out). The signal is to low to even drive ear plugs so the FIIO A1 is perfect. I can watch TV and block out all other sounds with only a simple 3.5mm audio cable. The sound still is on, however, it doesn't help anyone but me and it will not drive a large set around the ear earphones (for what technical reason, not sure) very well - just works so well with earplugs

Disappointing
My first iPod was the 4 Gb Mini, bought whenever that came out many years ago. It had the Wolfsen sound chip - same as in the larger iPods - and excellent sound. My next iPod was a Nano 8 Gb (the tiny, square one that clips onto a shirt pocket, not the oval tubular model - it is actually about the same size as the FiiO amp); it is used primarily for travel and takes up nearly zero space, but the sound is not as rich and warm as the Mini sound. Great Add on device for your Headphones.
This little amp does a lot for its size and enhances the sound of your headphones. Even a cheap pair sound a better with this in line with it.

A compact/versatile way to improve sound of headphones
I use this with some over ear headphones that don't play loud enough through a bluetooth connection. This fixes the problem at the cost of having a tether between me and my phone or portable media streamer. It has made a big difference though. Especially with my Velodyne vFree 'phones, nicely highlighting their balanced sound. This thing is compact and despite adding some complication to the setup, worth the tradeoff. The only significant issue is the battery life is shortish, though it does recharge fairly quickly and can be used while charging.

FiiO amp A1
The amp seems to work very well to amplify my headphones. The volume is louder but the best part is that it seems to add a depth to the music that was not there previously. The only problem seems to be that the battery life is not as long as advertised

Auidophile OTG
Me likey. I use this when I am running with my Koss Sporta Pro 60 ohm headphones. Very small, very light, very good. I don't use this for home listening, for that I use an e12 or e18. The one downside is that I am going to lose it, it's so small. Love it. No whammies.

This thing is on fleek !!!!!!!
I sa people on here say it doesn't get much louder, but as someone who likes kind of loud music I find that I have to turn it down often. This thing will blow headphone speakers so get a good pair. The coolest thing about this is that you can put an aux plug in the headphone plug and connect it to your car radio and it will crank up your car speakers as well!!!!!!!! Great price for an awesome product!!!!!!! John 3:16

More of an EQ than an amp
I got this to boost the audio on my LG G3. I have CyanogenMod running on it with the audio equalizer on it but it frequently crashes so I figured I could equalize my sound with this and also boost the volume. It's a nice quality unit but it doesn't add that much more volume- it's only a very incremental increase in volume- with ear buds and over-the-ear headphones. Don't get this if you need a lot more volume, especially if you're using headphone... Show More
