Superlux HD-662 F

I've had these for over two years now and use them for tracking, mixing and mastering songs in my home studio. These are usually plugged into my Focusrite Forte interface but I do use them for general listening. As I've had them for over two years they've been burnt in for a quite a while now. I was very impressed with them initially but found them a little forward in the upper EQ regions. After around 50 hours or so of use this tamed itself... Show More down and they're now just as natural as any of the £150 range of studio headphones that I've tried from the likes of AKG, Sennheiser and the like. I actually spent several weeks auditioning studio headphones in the £150-£200 price range using three reference tracks for each. The bass is nice a tight and accurate and not booming or overstated. Upper mids and highs will sweeten down with use. They're very clear and accurate. I marked them down a little for comfort as they will be a bit clampy at first but they do soften up over time - a few months I'd say - and can be comfortable for an hour or two. You'd most likely need a break to let your ears rest first anyway. These are a fantastic bargain and I highly recommend them for your first set of studio headphones. Don't let the stupidly low price put you off these. Finally, if you want to really annoy anyone with a set of Beats headphones, buy them a pair of these, let them hear the superior sound quality, them show them the price tag. :)Show Less

Not what expected

What first I saw was bad it's packaging. The ear pads was pressed in by paper holders so ear pads won't cover perfectly o head. They are not going back to go back to original shape. First impression of comfort wasn't very good. It presses head too hard. Afcourse you can band them over to loose the streinght but it's not how they were desingned I think. The sound is far beyond the reallity. if you are searching something for using in studio, you wont lok at these ones.. Thay are bad for you. overal quality of build is not bad. Cheap and good for the money, but the sound quality is not very hifi. The headphones provide a decent isolation (though I haven't tried using them while playing the drums).

Quality Headphones

Having been accustomed to a pair of Sennheiser HD 650 (which cost me more than ten times the price of these), I can honestly say that these Superlux cans come pretty close!!! The sound quality is very good, especially for the price - and I use them on a daily basis for mixing, tracking and mastering. Sure, for long sessions, they're not quite as comfortable as the HD 650's, but they're not that bad either. NOTE: these are Studio Monitor... Show Moreing headphones, so if you're looking for lots of bass, look elsewhere. These are tuned for clarity, as are most high-end headphones - although an headphone preamp or mixer could be used to add low end punch. Makes fun

The Superlux HD-662 F came in Bundle with my HP12E and I was very surprised about its sound. I use it, during recording, for musicians, for producing I have my beyerdynamic DT 880 Pro. Comparing to my DT 880 Pro: It has more bass and the sound is not that differentiate. With the DT 880 my piano sounds much higher detaild but to be fair, it costs much more money. For listening to music, using it for musicians during recording or jamming it is pretty good. If one of mine will ever stop working, I would by it again. Its small price, good sound and haptic makes it a nice headphone.

Good headphones

A copy of well known pro headphones, the SuperluxHD-662 F work very well for tracking in the studio. They provide good isolation without being uncomfortable. The main problem is the metal rods that connect each side - this rings with a very noticeable and intrusive note... But a bit of masking tape to damp this vibration and I'm very happy with these headphones.

Excellent headphones for recording and gaming.

I can certainly recommend these for this price. The sound quality is absolutely fantastic - the bass is fast and accurate but still deep. Mid range gives a nice flavor, and certainly is not scooped in the way that most cheap headphones perform. High's are a little harsh at first, but with time they get softer and you can certainly enjoy your music with these after some burn-in time. Thse aren't the most accurate headphones I've heard, although... Show More the freq. response is quite flat and sterile, you should not try to do any mixing with these, because when I listen to music with my Behringer monitors, they reveal much more information inside the track. The downside is that these are not comfortable in any way. At first, these are extremely tight and they feel like they try to smash your head into little pieces, so you have to shape them for many hours - thankfully they are very durable and you can also switch some Beyerdynamic or AKG earpads to these I think (I haven't done that). Best uses for these are certainly recording vocals - because the isolation is superb. Almost no sound penetrates these when you have them on, and almost no sound leaks from these either. So as a summary: If you use optics you might want to reconsider some more comfortable options, but if you want cheap, effective and accurate monitoring headphones - go for these.Show Less

Sturdy, economical and good-sounding

These headphones are a real bargain! They're rigid and solid in their construction, which always gives a nice impression and tells me they're gonna last a while. The 1/8" to 1/4" adapter is screw-on (never seen that before) and won't come off accidentally, which is a great feature. The closed-back phones have great isolation capabilities, sit comfortably and adjust easily to the head. I bought these as a complement to my open-back "Supe... Show Morerlux HD668B" to use when recording vocals, and I didn't expect to much due to the low price. But the sound wasn't that bad actually. They were not to good at reproducing the ultra-low frequencies and had some minor tin-can characteristics but overall they give a decent listening enviroment. I would definitely recommend these headphones to someone with a small budget looking for isolation and good overall sound (drummers, home recording-tinkerers, etc.), especially due to their solidity and quality. Much better than you'd expect

Soundwise, they're just as flat as you'd hope for studio headphones. They sound neutral, albeit a bit distant, I'd say. Obviously they're not thatsuited to actually listening to music "for fun", though. They're obviously cheap, and the build quality gives it away but I've been using them on and off for a year or so now and they still look new to me. Home recording - decent headphones

I dabble a little with home recording, and needed a decent set of phones to monitor, after reading the reviews I picked the Superlux HD 662f. They arrived within 2 days and my 1st impression was that they were a little too plastic and light - but after a few days and a few long sessions they are pretty good. Very comfortable, even for a few hours art a time, they cover all the ear and block out all extraneous noise. The sound reproduction is pret... Great low cost headphones for tracking

I first bought one pair of these headphones to try out after reading alot of good things on the web about them and then another 5 pairs to use for tracking at our band studio They are very similar in construction with regards especially to the headband compared to my old trusted AKG K270 Studio that i really love and use for mixing and also overall music listening at home. The Superlux HD-662 F´s (F=Flat response) holds much tighter around y... Show Moreour head though while the AKG´s instead are very loose, not to the point that i think its a problem with the 662´s, but with the AKG´s you can forget that you even have them on.. i do sometimes at least. Personally i wouldnt mix on these, but on the other hand since ive used my trusted AKG´s for a decade or so i would probably be more or less uncomfortable using pretty much anything else. Im very satisfied with these and recommend them if you are looking for low cost closed back headphones for tracking, if you want an open back version there is the Superlux HD-681 F which i havent tried myself.Show Less

Decent quality for a decent price

I have to say I was quite impressed with these headphones, I was sure for the price that they'd feel quite flimsy and cheap, but they don't at all. They're as comfortable as you're going to find for closed back headphones. I'm no audiophile or professional but I can't fault the spound on these either, its bassy enough thayt it doesn't sound thin or flat but the bass doesn't drown out any of the details in the sound either. Great value

For the money these headphones are ideal for padding out the live room of a studio. Main thing is that leak is practically zero at a sensible volume, sit comfortably for longer sessions but you get what you pay for so don't expect soft leather. However they do a good job in the studio and good for tight budgets or just looking to add to the collection for that occasional large session.

Good headphones, especially at the price point

Nice headphones, the sound quality surprised me, they punch above their pricepoint. Low end is slightly lacking, but the mids and treble are not harsh. Great for tracking!

They do me fine.

I use these with my Tele and Vox VT20+, when I don't want to disturb the house. Sound is great, they're very comfortable, and price was perfect.

Superlux Headphones

You wouldn't expect a set of 30.00 studio headphones to be the best in the world, but these are really good. I bought a superlux microphone from thomann specifically to mike up a guitar amp (D10B) It is fantastic and I prefer using it over a famous shure mic. This led me to consider the superlux headphones and i must say i'm becoming a bit of a fan of their stuff. I haven't used them for recording yet but i can see there'll be any problem at all.
