Sharp, Well Made Walk Around Lens
So far I love the lensyes, it is expensive but it is extremely well made and produces very sharp photos. This is my primary walk around lens for my A7 due to the reasonable size, weight and versatility. Between this lens and the FE 35mm I'm becoming a big fan of the Sony Zeiss lenses. I've attached a few photos, just note that all of them are cropped, in particular the photos of the bee and the moth.

My new favorite lens for my SONY A7r
I find this lens sharp, the focus is quick and the detail I get in my photos with the SONY A7r is beyond my expectations. I have used the lens now for a few weeks in all types of situations, even low light and have not been disappointed. Nice bokeh and I find the lens functions nicely at 24 mm or zoomed fully out to 70mm. The lens is well-made and sturdy.

SHARP AND USEFUL
The Sony A7r with Zeiss 24-70 is used primarily as a carry everywhere camera. Image quality is very good and the lens has a useful range. Much lighter and a little smaller than a comparable Nikon setup....will fit in a briefcase ! Focus is acceptably quick for everything but sports work , and the smaller form and reduced weight is a welcome relief for a retired pro.

Sony a7R's First Dedicated Zoom Lens
First off, this is an outstanding lens. Could it be better? Yes, but it is good enough for 90% of the work I do. I shoot a lot of landscapes and the wide to mid zoom is good most of the time. I wish it was like my Canon 24-105 since that covers more of what I shoot. I waited a long time for this lens and I'm not disappointed. sharp in the middle soft on the sides
This lens is super fast and silent focussing, very sharp in the center, but the edges are soft at 24mm and F4 and don't improve significantly at 24mm and any F stop. Quite a disappointment for landscape shots at 24mm.I bought this lens to replace a Minolta 28-70F2.8 G lens I was using on my A7R and found the Minolta lens soft overall, whereas this lens is soft at 24mm on the edges and improves as you zoom.

STUNNING!!!
I am honesty so impressed with this lens. It performs better than my Nikon 24-70 2.8 and weighs at least half as much. When I look at images from this lens I'm floored about the quality. Bravo Sony/Zeiss

Superb Zeiss Colors and Solid OSS
I bought this lens as an all-purpose walk-around kit to use with the Sony A7. It has not disappointed. The colors are typical Zeiss - saturated and rich. The optical stabilization is amazing - I can get sharp pictures hand-held 1/15 sec at 60MM. If you looking for a lens that is sharp at all apertures and all focal lengths this is not it. This lens is tack sharp. Very high quality. The down side is the aperture is 4.0 light hog. I selected it, from three choices in the promo package. For this lens to be professional it will have to get down to a 2.8 range minimum. Please don't misunderstand me it's top of the line quality, but. Thanks, Roger F. Edlin

Solid
I own both the 35 and 55 primes lenses but wanted a walk around lens. This is a great walk around lens and its not heavy and feels really solid and strong. Image quality is great and images are sharp.

This Zeiss 24-70 f:4.0 is fantastice.
I ordered the lens without much information being available. After using it for a week I am thrilled with the performance. The constant aperture works without any draw backs. I have several Sony and Minolta high end lenses and this is on par with the best. On a scale from 1-5, I rate it as a 4.7. Renewed faith
Knowing that a zoom is not as precise (sharpness/contrast) as a prime lens, and recognizing the multitude of conflicting reviews on the internet, I decided to purchase it in the hope - that as a travel lens - it would satisfy my needs across its focal range. Very good, but slightly expensive.
I have had the lens for almost two weeks. One full day shooting and a couple other smaller outings. I have taken maybe 500 images in that time. I am using it on an A7R. The lens is sharp, especially in the mid-range. The reviews I read said the lens is soft in the corners at 24mm. I didn't especially notice this in normal shooting. Very good - but not great.
I tried it out for the last few days. This looks pretty big on the A7R. OSS and AF works really well - but it hunts a little if the light is low. Image at 70mm seems to be slightly softer, and 24mm corners are not good. But from 28mm to about 65mm, this is stellar.

Great Lens - fast focus
great general use lens. It's not great for low light. Faster f/stop would have been nice at this price. It's also fairly large and outweighs the camera. Very Sharp images

Great lens, pefect fit w/ a7
Feels well made, solid. I feel its a perfect fit on my sony a7! Of course I would love for it to be a 2.8 but the f4 keeps it small and light. It's compact enough for a good EDC. Quality and performance have been really nice, but I have to admit I havn't shot charts and brick walls then looked at them at 100% yet... so pexil junkies I guess can skip my opinions haha. Sharp & Light, But Not Tiny
I've had the len for about a week, taken a few shots in bad weather, and had it out in the field once in mixed light. From my preliminary results it looks like it's sharp & crisp. I haven't noticed anything soft in the corners, found it sharp all across the field. Admittedly my usage is minimal, and I did not run any test scenerios, for me it's a fine lens.

Perfect Walk Around Lens for the Sony A7
The Sony FE 24-70 zoom is the perfect walk around lens for travel and general photography for the new Sony A7, A7R. Light, compact, high quality with image stabilization. This is the lens on my camera most of the time.

Excellent for the money
This lens shows visible distortion at both extremes of the zoom but it is easily corrected in post. Very sharp and contrasty through most of its range. Auto focuses well. The critiques that I have read of this lens are, in my opinion, based on unreasonable expectations. The lens is intended to be a flexible, walkaround lens for the Sony A7/A7r cameras and it does that very well at a very reasonable price.

Very nice little lens
Used in conjunction with an A7R Lens is sharp for a zoom but of course not as good as the Zeiss primes. I have done extensive resolution tests vs a Nikon 24-70 and it beats that lens everywhere except at the longest end. The lens is a bit plasticy for a Zeiss but way more solid than the Sony 28-70 FE lens. I do wish the filter ring was metal. Overall a very nice lens but if you are used to the Zeiss primes for Nikon or Canon, it isn't built like those. Manual focus is very smooth and much better than all other focus by wire lenses I've used.

I would buy this again
I test this lens at various aperture and focal length. Very consistent and sharp at all apertures at various focal length from 24-70mm.

Sony FE 24-70mm Vs Canon EF-S 15-85mm
I tested this lens on the Sony A7r. It is soft at 24 and 35mm starting at 60% of the way out towards the edge. I compared it to my current system, the Canon EF-S 15-85mm f4-5.6 IS on Canon Rebel 550D. I photographed a brick wall at a variety of focal lengths and f-stops, I'll only go into detail on one set, take at 24mm f8 on the Sony, and the equivalent focal length on the cropped sensor of 15mm f8. Much better than A7 Kit lens
I have been shooting with the kit lens for several months on A7 and decided to purchase this lens for better image quality and am very impressed.
