You can't use yourSonyRM1BP Remote Commander because the connector to the camera was changed. The only one that works (without having to use TWO adapters) is theSonyRM-VPR1 Remote Control. The RM-VPR1 has significant shortcomings, mainly it won't stay on the pan handle.

Small camera but great quality

The images and sound excellent and above all the size I love because you can take it wherever you want. Perform my first live broadcast by Ustream and the truth both the quality of video and great satifacion audo. The wireless connection to my router in my home the transmission was a success. Great Value w/4K

Jan 11, 2017

Boots quick so you don't miss the shot, small size, clear image zoom is very good, menus are fast, great for 4k down res to 1080. L-Gop file sizes are easy to work with. Lots of user info on YouTube and Linkedin Groups. Plays nice with A7rii and FS5 (same sensor).

Great quality image. Plenty of features. Just wish it came with 4k but to be able to is a nice option.

Low light performance could be better.

Dec 11, 2016

This is a solid camera as everyone has made quite clear. Nothing I have found with actual use appears to contract what everyone tells you. The only real sticking point I have is the low-light performance, I'd say it's on par with an AC90 or so when wide open. Yes you can turn the gain up to around 12db without really taking a hit on the image but wide-open this thing is definitely dark. It's unfortunate considering all the other great qualities. Also, the XDCam 422 50mpbs recording license is not yet widely publicized so it's difficult to find.

I normally work with DSLR cameras but threw this gem into my bag for those long events requiring continuous shooting and pro audio that you can control and monitor as needed. The lens is crisp and I love the dual cards.

Room for Improvement

Nov 21, 2016

This is a GREAT camera; I have found many uses for it in many different situations. Where I need a small camera with outstanding image quality, this suits me quite well, but when I need a variety of professional I/O, this also allows much expansion with the Sony multi-interface connector on the shoe for attaching things like lavelier microphone kits from Sony, which can pull power and data straight from the shoe. However, it's not perfect, and th... Show More

Great Camera, Easy Button Layout, Plethora Of Features

Nov 15, 2016

Bought this camera to replace my Panasonic GH4. For my personal and event videography needs it is by far superior. Having all that you need in a compact design is extremely nice. The camera gives a very pleasant image with great depth of feel. To get a good picture you have to use custom picture presets. The Built in presets weren't the greatest nor is using full auto mode. A concern was not having 3 full rings or dial switches for gain etc... Th... Show More

Best Camera for Video I have ever tried... No Photo Mode.

Oct 10, 2016

I recently purchased this Sony because it had balanced XLR. I already owned the AX100 non-XLR 4K model. The photo/video quality on both camera's is stellar. I own new releases from other well known manufacturers in this price range ( $2K) and the Sony 4K takes the prize. I rarely even use the 4K mode but it is nice to have. The only things you need to be aware of are 1. The 4k Firmware install is not intuitive, I watched a You Tube and it got me ... Show More

A Great Camera

Sep 16, 2016

In all honesty I have only had this camera for a week and have yet to explore its full potential but so far it's very impressive. The feel of the camera is rock-solid, the menu intuitive and the images are terrific. I use Adobe Premier Pro 5 and so far there are no problems with editing. I'll come back in six months with a more detailed review but right now I'll give it five stars.

Very Flexible

Aug 24, 2016

The only thing that is annoying about this camera is the lack of an external auto white balance button. To white balance you have to go into the menu to do it, after you select what white balance type (A/B/preset) externally. This is a little cumbersome when you're running and gunning. All of the connectors are easy to get to. The HDSDI output is very convenient, so you can interface with professional gear. Using good 3ghz cable I have no problem... Show More

Great B Camcorder

Aug 15, 2016

The X70 is great for small productions or a B Cam to my FS700. It is not as easy to use as a professional cam but has all of the adjustments. Would have to say its not the best in the low light but does the job.

Excellent compact camera

Aug 3, 2016

We bought one of these, then a second. Lightweight and compact. Footage keys well when shooting XAVC. Nice depth from the large sensor. We pair it with a Sennheiser MKE600 when doing run and gun. The Sennheiser is narrower than the mount on the handle , so I've used gaffers tape or fabric as a spacer. Recently 3d printed a nicer spacer, hoping does the trick. I've also seen people use a short length of rubber heater hose slipped over the mic. My ... Show More

Worst experience ever

Jul 22, 2016

When introduced in 2014, the Sony PXW X70 offered 4:2:2 recording at 50 Mbps. It was advertised as 4K ready. I purchased mine around November 2104 from B&H Photo for the full list price of $2249. Several months later it was available from most retailers at $1995. Initially, no software could edit Sony's new XAVC Long GOP codec. The camera came with Sony Catalyst Browse which could read and transcode XAVC Long files, but it was buggy and very slow... Show More

update on MPEG HD 422 upgrade

Jul 12, 2016

It's $600+. Why, Sony, why? If you want to sell more of these cameras, make it free and you can dominate the market, even with an iffy AF. Make it free, Sony. So we can soar. Used this for professional gigs, video made it on network TV no problem even in AVCHD. But don't buy this if you need an MPEG HD 422 camera. At nearly $3k just buy an old Panasonic P2 TV ENG camera and be done with this Sony nonsense.

First of all, that dope crying about the autofocus? What professional uses autofocus?? Grow up. Ok with that out of the way, this camera is really great.
