I paired this with my A7ii and even on the long end, without a tripod, the stabilization is performs well with that camera. Just wish the range was even longer, but I'm happy with what's given.

Lack of tripod collar, major oversight
So far I've used the lens on three different assignments, one a multi-day shoot, the lens is built well and the image quality seems ok, though nothing to write home about. Sony's AF (01/2017) does not stack up to Canon's - oh well. Back to manual focusing. The real negative for me is the lack of a Tripod collar designed onto the lens. Lens very heavy due to great build quality & many features.
I have a Tamron 70-300mm which weighs considerably less than my new FE Sony, but it is not 1/5 as useful nor as sharp, and has no added features like OSS which I find tremendously helpful. I can also use the lens on my Sony NEX & have stabilization with every shot. I LIKE it!

Excellent E mount Sony lens worth having
I have a Sony A6000 and it helps me take good to great photos with the kit lens and the Sony 55-200 mm f4.5-6.3. I wanted a longer lens with better resolution and recently bought the FE 70-300 mm. It is relatively compact and not too heavy. The zoom is a little stiff, which I like. You do not have to lock it to keep it from extending when carried downward. Great OSS
With OSS and at 300mm on my Sony a6000, I can hand hold shots of the moon and clearly see craters. Great for nature shots with good color of birds, etc. The only missing feature is a tripod mounting ring,

A Very Good, Very Portable Telephoto Option for Sony E Mount
I use this lens on a Sony AR7ii and it replaces an 70-400mm sony A mount lens that I used with an adapter. In comparison, the two lenses seem to have similar sharpness (very good, but not outstanding) and the 70-300mm focuses much quicker (but not blazingly fast). Great long lens for the Sony e-mount line
Lens is extremely sharp wide open and gets better stopped down. While not suitable for low-light situations, it is a welcome addition for someone shooting in the wild during daylight hours. Can be used on the Sony 6300 (and probably on the 6500), giving a 105-450 mm focal length in crop mode. Sometimes I experienced initial hunting when used on the Sony A7R II, but it quickly finds and holds focus. Very impressed with this lens.

Excellent lens to own!
I purchased this lens because I needed a crisp, long-range lens for nature and action sports photos. I have used it both in low light and ample lighting situations and am happy with its performance. Shots at 300mm come out crisp and the auto focus works great!

Nice sharp lens, but no way to extend
I waited until I had some sessions in the local marshes and hills before writing this review. I use this on an A7ii, which has 5-axis stabilization in the body, so OSS in the lens is in part redundant. But I like to shoot off-hand, and often handheld, shots of living subjects. Excellent & Powerful Zoom
I just purchased my first mirrorless camera from B&H, the Sony a7RII, which arrived a few weeks ago. I didn't have any legacy lenses that would carry over. Previously, I owned a DSLR Nikon and my work horse lens was the 18-200mm. So, I new I needed to purchase a zoom lens. I was tore between the 70-200mm and the FE 70-300 f/4/5 G model. I went with this lens with it further reach. Yes, it is a heavy lens, but after shooting around 300 images with the lens, I found it to be sharp from center to the corners at various focal lengths and f/stops.

Worth the weight
Although the lens is heavy it's worth it as I'm now able to get those long distance shots with good clarity. I don't like changing lens and would love a 24-300, but this will be a huge advancement in my street and wild life photography.

Nice lens - but yes, AF is not great on my Sony ARii
I have only used this lens on a tripod and for landscape/portraits and it is great when you have time to set up and think your shot through. I shoot with Aperture priority mainly because I am not the best photographer and I think this lens would be tough for a run and gun/I am not great with light yet person. My pictures get lots of likes on Instagram
I felt like a needed more reach than 240 mm and decided to get this lens. I have been very happy using it for pictures from my roof and many pictures of pigeons bathing in a fountain across the street from my apartment. The detail and clarity are fantastic. You can really see all the detail on the wings.

Loving the new Sony 70 - 300
Four stars instead of five, because the lens has no tripod collar. Otherwise this would have been a five star rating. This lens is a solid pro level piece of glass that can handle all sorts of demands. It's very sharp and balances nicely on my Sony A6000. I feel confident using the lens and would certainly purchase it again. The OSS works well, and everything is smooth operating. Certainly recommend this lens.

If you expecting a lens to match the potential of a Sony A7rii, this may disappoint. I rented this for a safari. To qualify, the lens can produce some great shots, but its just not consistent like Canon. I have both systems with various lenses, and this seemed to have difficulty focusing on exact targets, e.g., bird vs branch next to it. Good But Not Great
I bought the Sony A7Rii last year, moving from Canon. Since Sony did not have a 70-300 at the time (and I wanted more reach than the 70-200 that Sony did offer) I kept my Canon 70-300 L IS USM lens which I used on the A7Rii with a Metabones adapter. I wanted to move to a more light weight system than my Canon system, so I bought the Sony A7ii camera and had been using it with a Metabones adapter and my Canon 'L' lenses until my recent purchase of the Sony 70-300mm lens. Great medium zoom for Sony E Mount
I needed a long zoom for my A7R and A7Rii and this lens fills the need. It is slow with a max aperture from f4.5 to f5.7, but I usually shoot in daylight or with strobes or speed lights, so not a big problem. Great lens on the a6000
I love this lens, great color and detail and the bokeh is very smooth. Gave it 4 stars though because the auto focus is a little slow. Not real good for birds in flight, but everything else it is awesome.

Awesome lens.
Using it on the FS7, switched off the auto focus because it's too slow, using manual focus only. Rocker switch does not work on the zoom, nor does the handle zoom. Frankly, I don't care, the ability to go in and out of focus needs a manual touch anyway. The bokeh on this lens is fantastic and so is the ability to crop and focus at a great new minimum focusing distance.

this is a great lens with low light capability images are tack sharp and the reach is incredible with micro 4/3rd's max is 450mm. not the lightest lens however it was much needed lens for sony camera bodies.

Optically very good but autofocus is inconsistent
I must admit I was excited when the news of this lens first appeared. After reading several positive reviews I decided to purchase the lens. Great for outdoor use with lots of light
