Excellant alternative to DSLR when you can't take it with you. Bought mine for a biking trip and it worked well. Particularly used the fact that you could snap a shot and then crop quite a bit and still have a crisp image. My Dad & sister both bought one after me. Two other couples on the biking holiday say they are as well. The on/off button and shutter release are too close. I (and others) kept turning the camera off instead of taking a picture. You have to get used to it.

Phenomenal camera
All the reviews speak for themselves, but having this camera for myself, it is an amazing camera. The low-light capabilities and sharpness of the lens are absolutely unreal for a compact camera.

excelente cmara
I have the camera for a couple of months and really is spectacular, perfect films, take pictures indoors without flash with very good quality and has every conceivable feature. only be improved ergonomics (is beautiful but has little grip surface) and the manual does not say anything. expensive but the best

just received the camera and haven't had much chance to use it - purchased it for safari fotos next year - very compact, lightweight and easy to use. seems perfect for what we were looking for.

I am thrilled with this camera
I do fine art photography and painting. I use the camera for my photography as well as a photo notebook for things I want yo paint. I like the size and the quality of the print. It would be more versatile if the zoom range was bigger, although it's not important to me.

Perfect small camera

Fun camera
This will be my primary camera on an Antarctic expedition to the South Pole and back 2012-2013. So far testing has shown it to be very good. It has plenty of features allowing me near manual control.The pictures and video in full daylight are quite remarkable. An inspiring point and shoot camera

Best point and shoot camera ever made
This camera has out standing picture quality I would compare it to entry lever SLR with good glass. Best low light point and shoot hands down! Metal body and Carl Zeiss lens makes this camera the charm that it is!

I'm finding it hard not to love this camera. This is the camera for which I have waited for years. A fully loaded camera
This camera bridges the gap between my Nikon D90 and a simple 'aim and shoot'. It has great flexibility. I would recommend it to any serious photographer. For the size, it packs a punch.

As stated in other reviews, this camera is best used by someone with photography experience. But, even a relative beginner can shoot wonderful images with the camera on auto. The menus are easy to use and going through them once will allow most parameters to be easily set. Great camera, big problems
Sony just released a great camera, outstanding quality, but it's lacking the proper support. There's no software for Mac users, making the (usually) easy work of downloading pictures and videos a very hard one. It's not easy to open the RAW files that this camera generates. Don't be without a Camera!
I bought this camera to make sure that I always have a camera with me. The Zeiss lens is sharp and there are customizable functions that allow the user to set it up just about any way possible. Also, the built-in flash isn't harsh compared to other pocketable cameras.

FIVE STAR COMPACT FOR A PROFESSIONAL!
The f1.8 lens and the size of the camera is the reason for my purchase. I have not been disappointed. It is literally my everyday 24/7 camera and my back-up when using my Sony NEX-7. I highly recommend this point and shoot.

Superb image quality and usable features
I have not read the manual, but I have used the SONY DSC-RX100 for 10,000 photographs and 400 videos. The RX100 goes with me almost everywhere, including my trail running, hiking, and boating trips. The camera has become wet, but not submerged, several times. The camera has quit working because of the water on it a couple of times. Sony blew it
I detest this camera; primarily because it comes with no instruction manual. You must learn by trial and error--dozens of missed shots and lousy shots because you can't get it to do what you want. I inadvertently deleted all the images too. There is no excuse for this on a product that costs so much money.
