We were all blown away by the pickup responsiveness of these mics. They had their first run used as hanging stage mics for our performance of Godspell last week. The inline preamps allow for some tweaking to get the right amount of gain. The pick up pattern was ideal - you'll have to decide for yourself cardiod vs. super cardiod. Our stage is small and we wanted to tighter pattern to limit monitor feedback.Only drawback was the mic stand adapter.... Show More The way the mount works it will radiate all sounds and vibrations that the stand itself picks up right through to the mic. If you dampen the stand or play around with the adapter to dampen the mount the you will be ok. If you are going to use only as a hanging mic - this is a 5 star product.I have not used for recording so I am not commenting in terms of best use. However, I have no reason to think that they would not do a fine job for recording live performances. Personally I would not use in a studio for recording.Show Less
