Worth the cost
I spent a long time looking for a digital compact that could do a job similar to my dslr's but a little more than a consumer compact usually does. I love my DSLR's but they're so big and bulky that I often hesitate to carry them with me even when I travel. I went back to this camera multiple times - I was hooked to the 4/3s sensor and Leica lens. I've had the camera now for a few weeks and love its capacity to be 100% automatic which gives me the... Terrific Image Quality
I just started shooting with the LX 100 and love the ease of control for aperture and shutter. The lens is fast and the image quality is really strong for a camera of this size.

Way better than expected
This camera is the best compact I know at high ISO, it can be used at 3200 ISO! and the zoom has a very large aperture. Also, it is very well built, and has very convenient controls. The main limitation is the zoom stopping at 75mm. I wish there was some add-on lens available.

Best do-it-all little beast I could ask for
After selling off my cameras a couple years ago I wanted to get a DSLR but was also craving the mobility of the mirrorless cameras I recently had. Recently, offerings like the LX100 brought point-and-shooters on the table because of manual control features, etc, that I get on mirrorless lenses. But most importantly I was blown away by the reviews and sample photos already posted. I decided that interchangable lenses aren't the standard of versati... Show More

Batteries run down while camera is off
This is an addendum to a previous review. The batteries run down while the camera is off. They run down in four days with my copy. In the advanced owners manual on about page 22 it says to remove the batteries from the camera while not in use. Thus, it is not covered by warranty. The bummer is that this behavior started after the B&H 30 day warranty expired. The instruction to remove the battery when not in use is not in the basic manual that com... Show More

Made in China..auto-focus is not good(?) for 4K video
I thought made in Japan but this is made in ChinaAuto-focus is not good for 4K video. Auto-focus acts focus and out of focus sometimes..I gotta ask Panasonic if this is normal or factory defect.

Fantastic Camera for my needs
I didn't want to carry around a DSLR camera (brick) yet wanted a camera with very similar qualities. This camera takes beautiful crystal clear Photoes. The Macro setting is perfection. I tested the macro setting both on auto focus & manual focus, I can't tell the difference. In fact I keep fooling with the settings and they're all easy to work...then I compare them to the intelligent auto setting and I can't tell the difference. I took a shot (wi... Show More

My travel companion
I bought this camera to replace my Nikon DSLR as a travel companion. My main objective was to taken photos with decent image quality that is close to the quality of a photo taken with a DSLR while enjoying my vacation without the burden of carrying a large and heavy camera. As a bonus, this camera shoots 4K video with great quality. However, it is important to note that shooting 4K video requires a certain type of memory cards (i.e. memory cards ... Show More

Great Camera
This is a great camera with very easy to use features. Good build construction and love the design of the aperture ring and exposure comp dial. The images have been looking great. I am impressed with the monochrome image quality also.

best of current compacts
Four things about this camera bug me, but I can live with it. I believe the LX100 is the best of breed as of March 2015. 1. There are two buttons on top of the camera that are totally useless to me. They are in prime positions and are not programmable. 2. The ring on the lens that can change focal length is free spinning and very easy to move while I'm handling the camera. I had to turn it off. The ring on my Sony RX100II has detent clicks and is... Show More

Excellent for carrying everyday
My purpose for this camera is that I can carry it with me everyday and have have the ability to shoot from landscape to portrait with a large sensor. Even though this is 4/3rd sensor technology has made this sensor more then adequate. If your looking for a street camera that's small enough to be inconspicuous you will love this camera. What I love best is the old school shutter knob and f-sop ring.

Great Camera...Only On Paper
Bought it to use it as all-purpose travel camera. Having owned & used the previous Lumix LX and Sony RX series cameras, I made the purchase with very specific expectations. After receiving it I tried it out for about 10 days before finally giving up. If the one I had was a lemon, it must be that there are simply way too many of them. On average 1 out of every 5 shots came out of focus, not even close. I shot AFS at center all the time. Plus, all ... Show More

Very nice complement to your full system
I bought this as a quick camera to take with me, rather than my full system camera (the Fuji stuff). I am enjoying it. The shots are sharp, framed properly the 12MP effective is more than enough, the camera is relatively easy to use once you familiarize yourself with the menus. It's very nice to have the 4K video, and I've been shooting more video than I thought I would. The purple highglights are definitely an issue if you're shooting strong bac... Show More

LUMIX LX 100. A great small camera
The LX 100 was just what I have been looking for. small camera with a fast, quality lens (Leica 1.7), and the ability to go manual with aperture, sitter, and ISO, as well as auto set... Carry it with me most of the time, beats lugging my D-90, which I still like.

Amazing amazing amazing!!!
At first I was a little skeptical but then I actually got to take it out with me and found it very useful I was very impressed with the image quality especially the video 4k amazing, really wish that they would add the same profiles cine D/V as they have on the GH4 also take away the time limit on recording video and another cool feature would be if you could hook up an external monitor to LX 100 for now all you can do is play back but not actually look at what you're recording hope they fix this with a firmware update other than that amazing

Good compact alternative to taking your
The LX100 is a fairly straightforward compact with good manual control. Overall operation is quick with Auto-focus being surprisingly quick. Not really an issue even compared to my Nikon D300. Racking from one end of the zoom range to the other is slow (compared to twisting the ring on a manual zoom lens) and the electronic ring around the lenses doesn't really do anything to help it. Image quality seems to be decent. Not really going to hold up ... Show More

THE compact, as far as I'm concerned
Everything I wished a compact would be. The optional automatic lens cap is really convenient, but a tiny bit plastic-y and comes off too easily. They could have included a more comfortable strap. But - FINALLY! - accessible manual controls, that feel right, and work! The excellent focusing aids make manual focusing practical ... finally! A bit heavy, but pleasantly so, very solid. The automatic modes are uncannily accurate and will give you lots ... Show More

Great for both novice and advanced amateur
I bought it mostly for my wife, a novice, to use as a travel camera. It is a very high quality camera with a fast, sharp, high micro contrast, low chromatic aberration lens. It shoots raw that Lightroom accepts, has multiple native formats, etc. Controls are external and intuitive. One need only enter the menu system once ever to set the camera up. This is a camera that I, an advanced amateur, can also enjoy using. The reviews by Ming Thein and M... Show More

My New Carry Everywhere Camera
I have a Canon 5d Mark iii, which I love, but it's too big to take everywhere. I was looking for a camera that could be my constant companion that could do raw files, work in aperture, shutter or manual modes, have a zoom lens, be small and light, and not cost a fortune. I got a Sony and retuned it because of poor ergonomics and highlights being consistently blown. I got this instead and am pretty happy with it (I realize my wish list is a dream ... Show More

Small but powerful.
This is a very good camera to carry around everyday. Its a small and powerful to photographers that need a second camera. Image quality, manual commands and filters are amazing for a small camera like that. What is aren't so great about DMC-LX100 its the price, cost almost the same as a Nikon D5500 for an example. But the overall quality of the product is very good, if you have the money for a second small camera definitely buy it.

This is one of the best Compact Camera in this moment, great image quality. It's not so simple to understand the menu, for me that use the Nikon d4s, but it's simple at the end shoot good photos during an holiday travel, or all the time that you want, street photos are great. Took on a family trip to Hawaii soon after purchase. Overall am very happy with performance, size and quality. It's reasonably small, but most importantly very light. Easy to sling across shoulder and carry with camera on my back/side behind arm. Doesn't get in the way but quite handy. Amazing versatility, and the fast lens is a plus for portraits.
