A fantastic camera!
I'm using this camera for outdoor nature photography, close ups, people, just about anything that's within reach of the zoom. The build quality is great and the weight and feel in my left hand is dead on for me. What I am loving about this camera are the dedicated controls for shutter speed, aperture, especially the EV, manual focus ability....AND the viewfinder. I'm finding that the viewfinder gives an excellent representation of what I've shot.... Show More

Good little camera
Pros- Easy to use- Easy to carry (light and small)- Good quality shots for point and shootCons- I spent hours trying to use wi-fi to connect with my Mac, but in the end it seems that it is not compatible with the newer mac operating systems (or if it is, this is a compicated process not outlined in the manual)- Doesn't come with case or memory card- The manual in the pack is not detailed. There is a more detailed manual available on pdf on the in... Show More

Great Versatile Camera
I actually bought this mainly for the 4K UHD video capabilities and it really shines there (virtually identical to the GH4). Using full auto and standard settings look great, but you can get really amazing results going full manual and adjusting the various settings (like lowering sharpening and contrast down, etc.). The HDMI output is not live though, so you can't connect to an external monitor while shooting. And there is no mic input connector... Show More

This is a great pocket camera that give you complete control. I love the 24-75 range, fast shutter speed in raw and the electronic view finder. I shoot Nikon FF cameras, and there are times that I do not want to carry around my larger gear. This camera has a great lens and the qualtity is very sharp. Lots of ways to setup this camera to meet your needs.

My Favorite Camera
I haven't bought a digital camera for about five years. With few exceptions, Point and shoot cameras have been typically limited and targeted to those who don't know much about photography. For years I have wanted a digital camera that was similar to a 35mm film camera. For me, this is as good as it gets. The simplicity of having a shutter speed dial and aperture ring has renewed my interest in making pictures. This camera reminds me of a Leica 3... Show More

Solid piece of equipment
Beautifully compact, sharp photos in low light. Dial controls for focus, aperture, and shutter speed give it the manual feel of an SLR, but much less conspicuous for taking street photography. Had originally considered a Leica, but was happy to have the Leica lens on a Panasonic body.

great camera, IQ 8/10, no tilting lcd
Handling is great, though the camera is an in-between size (won't sit in a pocket well, a bit too small to fit on a shoulder strap).lens is great, bokehlicious background portraits are easily achievable using the fast lens. It's a bit easier to handle than full frame sensors that have a paper thin dof - backgrounds can be pleasantly blurred enough, but are usually in focus. Range is good too - 24 is just wide enough, and 75 is perfect for casual ... Show More

Good with some caveats
I recently used this as my primary travel camera, replacing a 5D with 24-105. My comments are in that context. It is complicated to set up. Some important things to note:The good;- very impressive low light capability and fast focusing.- IS works very well.- lens flare is very controlled.- lens vignetting is nonexistent.- It is small enough to carry all day and forget you are wearing it.- Finally, a compact camera with some possibility of backgrou... This is a great little camera.
The only negative I can think of is the initial outlay of cash. The results, however, do justify the price. Low-light shots are sharp and the colours are rich and faithfully reproduced. I've only had it a couple of weeks, so the learning-curve is still well in effect. The zoom isn't the biggest, but I was not planning to use it as a replacement for my bridge camera. I have shot video with it and liked the results. As I do not have 4K TV capabilities, I have not explored the camera's abilities to shoot that high-definition footage yet It will be the camera that accompanies me everywhere.

Pricey, but I think it worth it so far
I'm upgrading fromthe Sony RX100mk1 (and spend some time with the Canon G7x). If you are comfortable with the Sony and Canon size and you want pant pocketable, I'd the RX100m3. I wanted something with more ergonomics and controls and like shooting the LX100. You just have to appreciate there's no flash, touch/tilt screen, and lots of lens flare when there's a bright light source in the frame.

Not perfection ... but so very close!
Background - This (Panasonic XL100) replaces my Samsung EX1... so, yes, I'll miss the fully-articulating screen and even the in-camera USB battery charging and slightly smaller footprint. The Gain - Seperate direct(retro) shutter and aperature control, WIFI and NFC, full HD and 4K video, very close and effective macro, exceptional 1600/3200 ISO JPG images (out-of-camera ... who needs flash?).Bonus - The digital EX extended zoom feature produces ve... A little Pricey, but not disappointing
I spent years getting hung up over what camera to get. No camera is perfect, and people on the internet LOVE to nitpick on every camera. In an age that cameras are doing some unbelievable things it almost feels like people rather complain than just enjoy how many options we have when it comes to photo/video.This camera is solidly built, and pretty portable compared to a regular DSLR. Is it the smallest compact available? No, but it makes up for i... Show More

Excellent pics in a portable package
Upgraded a P330 wanting a point and shoot which has closer quality of pics along with functionality to a DSLR. The Lumix DMC-LX100 fits the bill perfectly, I love the dials which give direct access to aperture and shutter control. Auto focus is quick and accurate yet at the same time there are the inbuilt adjustments for different filters and effects that you would expect.

Lumix LX100
I carry this compact camera with my 600mm birding lens. I use it for landscapes, flowers, insects, that the 600mm would not give the field of view. I'm impressed with the quality of the images from such a small body. It does nearly as well as my Nikon D700 with 24-70mm lens and of course is much lighter.

Lumix LX-100
Owning two high end Nikon SLR's, and accompanying accoutrement, I was looking for a very high quality rangefinder-type camera that didn't weigh a ton, had first class glass, a fast aperture, and a real-deal viewfinder. I had been to B&H twice during the summer looking at products, but either the cameras were too small (circa Japanese radio dials in the early 70's), too slow to focus, or required interchangeable lenses (which I already had in abun... A great walk around camera
This is my current camera for carrying with me everywhere. The build quality is excellent, on par with the X100S. Set up and use are very intuitive. The camera is very customizable as well. Strengths: Image quality, color rendition and bokeh are all outstanding. Image stabilization works well. Pinpoint focus feature is great. So far, battery life is excellent. Weaknesses: The Auto ISO algorithm is pretty basic and not that useful. The iA and Filt... Show More

Lumix LX100 compared to the LX7
I have had the LX3 (gone), LX5 (gone), LX7, GX7, GX1, GF1 (no longer used), and I just picked up the LX100. I just started using this LX100 extensively enough to have the following observations:- great comfort zone with ISO to 1600 while I don't use the LX7 beyond ISO 400.- love the fact that it shares the same battery as the GX7 - I am enjoying using the LX100 with the 24mm while shooting the GX7 with the 15/1.7 or the 25/1.4 (30mm or 50mm eq.) ... Well worth the wait
I've had the LX100 for about a week now and am very happy with my purchase, as well as the quick and efficient service by B&H.I wanted a small and capable carry-around camera with a fast lens, eye-level viewfinder, and manual shutter and aperture controls. Panasonic's stabilizer works great too -- I got a sharp shot at night last week while shivering at 20 below at 1/3 second. Some are critical of the lack of a built-in flash and a tiltable screen, but neither issue bothered me. This is a great nighttime candid camera.

Fantastic camera with great JPGs out of the camera. Macro is 3 cm! (A little over an inch)I like low light photography over flash, so this camera is good.

Good but not great
Very fast auto focus; AF reliable even in low light; need to stop down to f5.6 at most focal lengths to get sharper images; image quality is better than all other point and shoots (and it should be at $); electronic shutter is great, especially 1/16000 max shutter speed; clip on flash is actually a decent performer; auto-ISO logic is horrible with camera refusing to go past ISO 1600 even with my shutter speed dropping to 1/8 second at full zoom i... Still new to me
This is going to be a big learning curve for me. The LX100 has so much capability and I'm maybe too old to learn it all. But i will give it a shot. Out of the box in Auto mode it does a great job so it should really shine once I learn more about it.

I use the LX 100 mostly to take close portraits of people. The camera is so easy to use and get great exposures. Focusing is fast and spot on. The only thing I am not wild about is the on/off switch. But it is not really a problem. Just a bit fussy for large hands.

Magical Camera
I did a user review on my web site (MirrorlessJourney) with a lot of photos and videos shot in real life with this camera. I love it. The AF is fast and precise. The bokeh is sublime with a very summilux style. The image and video quality are awesome. The battery lasts longer than in my GX7.The only thing missing is a tilting touch screen. It would have been nice. The zoom is slow to go from the wide to the tele focal lenght (about 3 seconds). It has some ugly lens flare in some conditions.Overall, it is an awesome camera with a lot more pros than cons.
