An amazing camera
I've used Lumix GH4's in the past but this is a huge upgrade especially in regards to video. I primarily use it to film events and it's been an amazing addition to my equipment list.

Currently the best video camera you can buy.
I own 2 of these and whenever I use them, I'm blown away by the quality of the footage they make. You just can't get a better camera for the money. I generally use it with a Metabones adapter for EF lenses but even with a Lumix pancake lens, just spectacular.

WARNING: Files are likely to become corrupted.
The GH5S has so much going for it, but it has one fatal flaw that I utterly HATE. When the battery life is below about half, it may not process the 4K video files or long time exposures. Numerous times I have gotten home, only to realize that critical footage is missing or corrupted. I called Panasonic support and they said it was not an issue, just shoot with a battery that is above half charge or drop the resolution below 4K. Corrupted files no... Show More

Bad customer support
The Panasonic GH5S is an awesome pro camera. No video recording limit means no missed moments trying to restart the recording, advanced video capabilities unmatched by the other camera companies, two card slots, true weather sealing, electronic viewfinder, fast accurate AF... the more time you spend with it the more you discover what it can do. I'm going to sell my Sony a77 mark 2. It is 24MP APS-C and has WORSE image quality than my new 10.3MP G... Show More

Best Out The Box Cinema Camera Available!
Okay, the Sony A7III has better auto focus and low light after ISO 10,000. Yes the Black Magic Pocket Cinema 4k has the best overall IQ under an Arri Amira. But TELL YOU WHAT... The GH5S has better IQ than the Sony overall due to 10bit and better color science! But the better weather proofing and video centric features (peaking, zebras, luts etc) make it just simply the better out of the box solution for Pro Level Video! The BMPCC4K is just plain... Dont be afraid to switch
At this price point, you are going to be getting a great camera whose only faults are nitpicks. I was coming from the Canon 6D Mark II and had a lot of fears when switching from a DSLR full frame to a Mirrorless micro 4/3. However, the GH5S has proven to be an excellent camera that I can trust. My biggest fear was the digital eyepiece since I had found it disorientating when trying it at my local camera store. Having more time to use it, I am a h... Show More

Amazing Camera
I currently own a GH5 and it is a very nice camera. But, I am more of a film style shooter and liked what I saw in the specs of the GH5s. I bought one a couple of weeks ago and what an amazing camera. The dynamic range is better and the colors I believe are more accurate. I am keeping my GH5 for now for 2 camera sit down interviews and hand held run-n-gun but would love to get another Gh5s down the road.

A DSLR form factor designed for video
Ive never been a fan of the DSLR cameras for video because they always had too many compromises compared to purpose-designed video cameras. The GH5S is a bit different here, because it was designed with video in mind first. It has all the feature I expect from a video camera but in the small and light form factor. I also use Panasonic Varicam cameras, so having V-Log is critical as it allows me to intercut b-roll with A-cam footage seamlessly a... Show More

Excellent camera & system
This is an excellent camera with great low-light capabilities. I shoot mostly video and this is much better in low-light than the GH5. My GH5 is the better hybrid camera for stills (IBIS, more MP, etc.), but the GH5S are better for video (low-light, time-code, etc.). Yes, I know that many people seem to be on the "we need a 35mm sensor" bandwagon, but that is nonsense. These produce excellent video and have advantages over the 35mm sensor size fo... Show More

Amazing camera for video
This is an amazing video camera. It's 16x9 sensor is dual ISO capable and it comes with V-log 10 bit 422 400mbps MOV codec that produces noise free images that is better than most sub 10K cinema cameras. We have two of these cameras with metabones speedboosters. Yes it doesn't have ibis. But if you are a professional video content creator.. You should own a final or a steady rig. We use glidecam dgs and glidecam centurion. This camera is the best mirrorless video camera in the world.

What a great tool!!!
I use it on a gimbal and tripod, and love so much that they throw the IBIS out. Truly remarkable video making tool.

Low Light Monster!
I bought this camera a week before a wedding gig, and boy am I glad I had it. The reception was outdoors in a forested area and lit only by strings of Edison bulbs. But, the gh5s was able to still get great images. Many people complain about the lack of IBIS, but I am fine sacrificing the ibis for the nuts low light performance. I'm on a gimbal or monopod most of the time anyways. When the sun goes down this is my new A camera.

AMAZING LOG AND LOW LIGHT
I never thought I'd put down my GH5. But THIS! The colors are comparable to Fuji and the VLOG is absolutely amazing. Yeah the GH5 IBS is missed, but throw this baby on a gimbal and you'll forget all about that hype. For skin tones the GH5s seems to lean a bit more into the reds than the GH5 does with greens, but they are pretty similar. I shoot a lot of corporate video indoors and in low light situations. The GH5 is a great second camera a... Show More

From Video Cams to DSL Cams
I know, most people go the other way, but I researched and hoped for a year that a better video camera would come out near this price level. Of course, there is nothing that does 400 mb/s 4K in 4:2:2, 10 bit for under $2K WITH Hybrid or Vlog Log gamma and variable frame rates - in this quality range. I have been using Canon HDV, Sony EX-3's and Panasonic TM series cams for a wide variety of private and corporate projects for years and wanted... Show More

VFR - AUTOFOCUS - UDIO

Best video camera for the price
This is an amazing film camera. It shoots great looking video. Color science is almost perfect. just the fact that it records 4096 x 2160 at 422 10 bit log files into SD cards is a good reason to buy this camera. It has a larger field of view than GH5 and when matched with a metabones speed booster it generates the same filed of view as super 35mm. Camera doesn't have internal stabilizer. which is a good thing. Buy a gimbal like a real film shooter. This camera is by far my favorite camera.

great 4K video but lots of trouble focusing
I have just used two GH5s units on a two-week shoot in Norway. One was hand-held and the other was on a gimbal. Unfortunately, relying on autofocus for the gimbal resulted in a significant minority of the clips with the subject not in focus. We shot in HLG mode for the extra dynamic range and are very happy with this HDR mode. The main problem with autofocus is when light levels are low, or when the subject does not fully fill the center of the f... Show More

Not targeted at those who gave this a low score!
THIS is the camera I've been looking for: Amazing low light performance and 10 bit 4:2:2 internal. With a speedbooster/focal reducer, the sensor is even bigger than APS-C, or Super 35, so it's between Super 35 and full frame, which is more than I need as a filmmaker. For the folks complaining that this doesn't have IBIS, well, this camera is not for you. If you want a vlog, travel, documentary, or wedding camera, then stick with the GH5. If ... Show More

An affordable professional camera
This is not a camera for vloggers. It's intent is to be used as a professional go to. Hence no IBIS (doesn't really matter in the professional video world). 10 bit Cinema 4K at 400mbs kind of speaks for itself. The quality of footage is outstanding packed in the small mirrorless body. DUAL ISO is simply incredible. This camera can see in the dark. Something you used to only get in Varicam models. I have paired this camera with a metabones xl speedbooster and the quality of 4K footage I get is amazing.
