A wonderful camera that renewed my interest in photography
I have owned the OM-D E-M5 Mark II for about 6 months now. Unlike the previous review, I have found the camera to be very easy to use and feature-packed. Unlike my previous DSLR camera, the OM-D E-M5 Mark II includes so many exciting features, like 4K time-lapse videos, live composite photography, HD video and more while delivering superb quality. Combining ease of use with incredible capabilities, the camera has gotten me excited about photography again. I would recommend it to anyone.

Menu is elaborate because of the vast options
I own two OM-D E-M5 MII and after spending an hour or so reading the manual and learning the function of all the options , I found it pretty impressive. I've owned a studio for over twenty years, and just got tired of carrying the weight and bulk of so much large equipment around. The ergonomics and weight of the OM-D system was definitely a change for the better. Great lens selection.

Decent image quality but horrible reliability. Don't buy
I purchased this camera in March 2015. My primary use is for leisure and I wanted something light for taking pictures when on trips. I am not a professional photographer but do take a lot of pictures. This camera has been nothing but bad news for me. I had to send it for repairs two times in 8 months. The first time was in June when I was on a outdoor trip with my family in Texas. The camera was working fine and I just flipped the screen out to t... Show More

Much Improved Version
I ordered this camera after dropping my OM-D EM10. Instead of replacing it with the 10 the OM-D EM5 Mark II seemed the best choice. Boy, am I glad I dropped the OM-D EM10. This camera has many more function buttons, a better five axis stabilization, and the ability to turn the rear display to the front or any position instead of just angling it up. This is a great feature. The image quality is spectacular. I have a Canon 6D with all the L-series ... Show More

Great travel camera
I am a traditional Nikon D750 and Leica M240 user, but recently bought the E-M5 Mark II for my recent Europe trip and couldn't be happier. Don't get me wrong, there are some compromised to be made if you're coming from the full-frame camp (dynamic range and resolution, to name a few). But when it comes to portability, great image quality, and photographic flexibility, the E-M5 Mark II delivers in spades. Love the dials when shooting in ever-chang... Show More

OM-D E-M5 II
Through the years, past 40 years or so, I have had every brand of camera, including Leica, from mid range all the way to the top of the line. My favorite was always Nikon and in recent years I slowly moved into the mirrorless arena. I enjoyed the latest Sony Alpha full frames, the A7R and A7S, are absolutely remarkable, and best for my needs. One day, a friend asked me to evaluate his new Olympus E-M5 II. My first impression; amazing quality, sol... Show More

Excellent Fit for Me
I am absolutely delighted by this camera! From the quiet mechanical shutter to the smooth lens mount (both of my EM-10's had tight lens mounts) this thing just oozes build quality. The Olympus announcement that it will be getting the new features from the EM-10 MkII in a November v2.0 software update (except for the touchpad focus while using the EVF which didn't work for me anyway) was the icing on the cake. So it ended up being a bit more than ... Show More

Excellent Product
I purchased this because I decided to go with a mirrorless camera and I don't regret it. At first it was difficult to get used to the electronic viewfinder, but now going back to my bulky DSLR (optical viewfinder) felt so ancient. The item is extremely durable, great choice of vintage retro design. The swivel LCD is very useful. I love the dials on the side. I love the functionality. The separate flash is useful. The item is packaged very nicely ... Show More

Awesome Camera
A very versatile camera. It has many function buttons that can be set for whatever your needs are. I have had it for two weeks and have not found any problems with it. I did purchase a class for this camera which has been great in getting through the menu. The very thing I love about the camera- its ability to be set for many needs through the menu - is the very thing that makes it somewhat daunting. The menu is very deep. The two lenses that I purchased are the Olympus 12-24 f2.8 Pro and a 14- 150 f4-5.6II.

Great image quality, but...
The lack of thought or logic in the menu system of this camera crosses over into the ridiculous realm. I am sending it back with regret, but sending it back. I have asked other owners for advice, and was told they had to buy expanded manuals and video courses; that alone is indicative of a problem. Until the menu system is improved, I would not recommend this camera to anyone.

Great Camera
This camera is great. It's the first real camera I have ever had. It took me a while to get up to speed with how to use the controls, but once you get used to it it's easy. Takes great pics, AF is amazing and video capabilities are great too.The only gripe I have is the eye cup for the EVF. WHAT THE HECK OLYMPUS?! I only had the camera since July and I have already had to replace it twice! Apparently there is a dumb design flaw that doesn't lock ... Show More

Just the system I was looking for
My main camera is a Nikon D750, and that system with the various lenses I use can be pretty heavy. I was looking for a compact, lightweight system for hiking, street photography and travel and this camera is just the ticket. This body with 3 prime lenses (25mm, 45mm and 75mm) in a small Lowepro daypack weighs nothing. The image stabilization is superb and the image quality with the prime lenses, especially the Olympus 25 mm f/1.8, is outstanding ... Show More

Just what I was looking for
I wanted a more compact system than my Nikon D750 for when I hike or travel and know I'll be walking around all day, AND I wanted a camera that produced good images. Being a Nikon shooter I tried a V2 but the image quality wasn't what I was after. The Olympus OM-D EM-5 is just what I was looking for. With prime lenses it is a very good camera and produces insanely sharp images with good color and contrast. Again, not like my D750, but I didn't ex... Show More

Amazing Camera
I bought this camera to take reference photos for my art projects. After using it for about 2 weeks, I can happily say that it's even better than I was hoping for. I will never have to squint or try to figure out what is going on in a reference photo ever again. What is amazing is that I am also getting interested in photography itself. I am able to take great photos in the iauto mode and the SCN modes but am looking forward to learning more abou... Show More

Great features, but not very robust!
I have the camera for several months but used it only for a few days altogether. Great camera, I upgraded from the OMD EM5. Many new features that I love. I also like the new articulated lcd. However after only unfolding it perhaps 25 times, the LCD went black and will not come back under any circumstances. I checked up on Google and found many more cases exactly like mine. Very disappointed!

Not so great camera
I love it small and compact but it die after one and half month use. The screen black out with fully charge battery. It makes a clunking sound and shut off, and never turn back on again. Now camera is ship back to Olympus for repair. I am very disappointing.

I'm very experienced, have been professional in the past, and I've owned several system cameras over the past 45 years, and recently made the decision to sell off my Canon DSLR system and my lenses and accessories for this Olympus system camera. Not yet Olympus
Sorry Olympus, hate to burst your bubble but you are not anywhere near the power of DSLR Canon. I have to admit that I fell for the marketing hype of Olympus. 1) The Canon RAW Files are way more powerful and have so much more data. You can push the raw files in photoshop really hard in Canon. For Olympus, it seems like the raw files dont want to be touched at all. As soon as you start messing with them, you see really weird colors, lines, noise e... Show More

Size no longer matters.
It's one of the best digital camera's I've used so far, including most full frame DSLR and the latest full frame mirror less. Great IQ every shot. Don't get fulled by it's small size and the micro 4/3 sensor, it will give just about any sensor out there a run for it's money.

Terrific Camera and System
I waited about 2 months to write this review to give me real experience with the Oly EM-5 MK II. I have been a die hard Canon person. Last summer at 62 I hiked all over Glacier Intern'l Park with a 70D, 100-400L, 10=22 EFS, & 18-200 EFS. I did have the good sense to leave the 70-200 f2.8L home, but the weight of what I did bring was a killer. So before my 2 weeks in England and France this month, I decided to go Olympus light.
