Nice External Bluray Drive 4 the price, w/a couple footnotes
Footnotes I wish I'd known: 1. The manufacturer's marketing images gave me the impression that the drive could be placed on its side - not true. 2. Needed a direct, powered USB port in spite of having its own power supply (would not work connected through a USB3 hub). 3. Rear power switch is a very stiff slide switch and feels cheap, like it won't last long if it gets a lot of use. I can't just leave it powered because my computer is in my bedroom and the blue light is blinding and difficult to cover. Fortunately I only plan to use it occasionally so this hopefully won't become a problem.

Not compatible.
It didn't turn on. I got a replacement. The replacement didn't turn on. Apparently it wasn't compatible with my Win 7 computer setup. Had to get technical help to fix a couple of residual problems on the computer. The tech had me disconnect each of my 4 USB external flash drives, then reconnect them one by one. That took care of the problem. Had to return it. I'm writing this because this is probably an excellent device, but there might be compatibility issues. So what I hate is that it didn't work with my system, not the unit itself.

Pretty good
This drive cost me 123 dollars it was worth it. The drive is quiet I haven't lost any blank bd-r disc yet and I used 43 disc. It appears I have the latest firmware so it probably means I didn't get a burner that was sitting on the shelf forever. Good job B&H and I won't hesitate to buy products from you down the road. I highly recommend it.

Does the Job
seems to work ok, tried to load software update from enclosed disc, was not successful. I'm satisfied with operation although it seems a little clunky.

Very good
I bought the OWC Mercury Pro 16X Blu-ray, and it did not read Blu Ray properly.. I then bought this one.. It works flawlessly reading and writing all discs including Blue Ray. So far very pleased.

doesn't work on mac
Don't buy it, it doesn't work on mac. I wrote to asus to try to resolve the problem but there is no solution, it is not recognize by OS X.

The only Reason this review is here is that i want a return.
I bought two of these turds in June 2017, finally get to backup / burn some backup data nad neither work on my Windows 10 Machines. ASUS Support is non-existent. Tricky Device manager deletion tricks don't work. I spend $1000s on computer equipment and this is what i get? No other options on B&H Either. Shame. Not Happy. I could go on forever, but i'm going to puke. This product is a sham.

So far unit has performed flawlessly and I have no complaints. Very fast at recording Blu-ray Disc.
