Good value
This camera is light and compact. It starts up quickly. The focus is good. Zoom all the way only when you have to, as the focus isn't as good and the image flattens. My biggest negative is that it takes a couple of seconds to write to the recommended card. Overall it is a good value for the money.

Great little point and shoot!
I have been a photographer for many years. I have owned SLRs, mirrorless, advanced point and shoot cameras over the years. I typically take my big camera with me but I have yearned for somethng smaller many times when I am out hiking. My wife loves this camera, we both use it.
We both use this little Sony. We don't like our cell phone cameras and we don't always have our DSLR's with us. Would recommend it as a second camera, small good battery life and good quality images.

Excellent Little Camera
This camera is very easy to use and always produces great results. Just point and shoot and you know the pictures will be great. Maybe the reason we are so satisfied is that we are very used to the functions as it is our third Cybershot camera. We still have the original one we bought many years ago and still works perfectly. The new one has much better resolution with 20 megapixels, super powerful zoom and many more features, all great improvements over an excellent product.

Great little camera
Great little camera, no more pick the shutter speed and f-stop. Put it on automatic and it takes a great picture every time. Also great video, the panoramic feature is scary, push the shutter once, pan the camera in the direction you've select, watch the screen as you pan for when to stop, and you have (about) a 180 or 360 degree picture.

For a basic snap camera the W830 is has a lots of tech features also the compact size is a strong selling point. it works perfectly and the zoom delivers good results.

Compact carry along
I bought this camera for the times when I just don't want to pack my Alpha, something to throw into my pocket for a few quick shots. Seems to be a pretty decent camera for the price, easy to use, and though I prefer a viewfinder even when using my Alpha, framing shots was easy with this one.

I want my DSC-W50 back
I bought this camera to replace my Cybershot DSC-W50 because it had similar features. I am very disappointed particularly in the shutter speed and the image quality. If there is any slight movement of the subject the picture is blurry.

Not a smartphone user! I use this camera whenever I go out on a casual basis and don't want to take my larger DSLR camera. Fits easy in a pocket and takes good pictures. Long battery life! This replaced a similar Sony which got lost.

Robust features for a small price
Five years ago, a camera with these features and qualities would have cost hundreds of dollars. Small and light, this camera is convenient to carry on any occasion. One complaint is the flimsy power on/off button. Otherwise, worth every bit of the cost.

How do you send a camera out with no instruction booklet? Just a start up basic steps and no instructions...very very bad policy...I bought the camera and don't know how to use it///

Nice little camera
Bought this camera for my wife, who wanted both smaller size and better battery life than her old Canon SX-230 but doesn't care about camera technical mumbo-jumbo. it works great for her, since all she has to do is concentrate on framing and composition. I don't think you can do better for the price.

Great pocket point and shoot camera!!
I use this camera when walking in the desert. I can put it in my pocket and be ready to shoot in just a moment. The resolution is spectacular. The prints I have made are stunning. I will also take this camera to Europe with me this summer. It is light weight, easy to stow away and takes wonderful pictures. What more could I want?

Great buy
I have a more complicated camera, but my wife wanted a simpler camera she could carry in her purse. We are very pleased with this one. Take very excellent pictures in low light, and flash is good for this type of camera. It's very thin when the lens pulls back. There are some useful features built in (red eye, smile detection, teeth whitening, etc.) It would be helpful if a paper version of the instructions were included. The on-line version is not convenient. It's a great buy for the money.

The Real Deal

Great Camera for the Price
I am a Staff Engineer that needed a camera and needed one quickly for photographing product related to claims. The ordering process was quick and easy and the camera was delivered the next. It takes fabulous pictures. Menus are easy to follow and set up was a breeze. Downloading pictures from the camera is simple as well. It is a great general purpose camera for the price that I paid.
