Very happy!
Having read many articles about this camera, I decided to bought it. I have been taking photos with mi 5ds from november and was very satisfied, but needed something lighter for dairy street photography. I am happier than a kid with a bag of candy!. What liked the most in this camera is the capacity of handheld shooting at nignt, and, the capacity of pushing shadows at lightroom to get an incredible DR. It is not a perfect camera, but there is no... Show More

Nice photos,yes....
I had one of these for a day and it did produce lovely photos. My concern is,how important are nice photos of random objects? This camera is three thousand dollars...its not easy to earn three thousand dollars for most people. Or pay it off on your credit card. At some point people should really weigh the ridiculous cost of this photo gear in relation to its output. Does anyone use this camera to make money? Likely,no. You can take excellent phot... Disappointed
I purchased this camera a few months ago. I love many things about the camera but it destroyed two of my new Sony memory cards and I lost two hundred images that couldn't be recovered. Including two images that were in the top ten of the recent Australian Photography Awards. I then realized I only have a US warranty and Sony Australia won't stand by their product in Australia so I now have to bear the expense and risk of shipping it back to the U... Show More

Perfect, my favorite camera now
I've been hauling huge dslr's all around the world to shoot with. Now I don't. This is a beautiful camera especially well suited to street photography but Im using it as well with a Beeworks 3-axis gimbal for video work as it saves a ton of weight and makes it easy on the arms. I can own any camera I want and do own a couple 7d MK11's and 5dMkIII and an array of lenses. My everyday, never leaves my side camera is this. I just couldn't be happier ... Show More

Great camera but one big reservation
I can add little to the positive comments about the camera. It produces great images. My first unit was replaced by Sony under the light-leak recall. The electronic viewfinder of the replacement unit failed (went from normal to garbled to inoperative in the span of 24 hours) after 13 months in normal amateur use (one month out of warranty). It's about a $600 repair (EVF replacement), with no assurance that this component is not a weak link of thi... Show More

not perfect but I like the idea.
this camera is not perfect: battery needs to be replaced just as much as old film used to be replaced-all the time. video is not 4k and no image stabilization. but if you can afford it then get it. hiking or just keeping a camera handy just became so much easier and I no longer use my iPhone whenever I want to get a shot. I used to keep my DSLR and fancy lenses at home because taking it everywhere was a pain. fixed 35 is no issue- for wider I sti... Show More

Great camera in small form factor
I have used full frame cameras for a long time, but I wanted to have something smaller for Carry everywhere camera. And RX1RII is indeed significantly smaller than traditional full frame cameras. The 35mm focal length is great for everyday usage, since it allows portraits as wells as nature photos without too much compromise with neither of them. Also the F2 lens has really nice bokeh from portrait distances In summary positives -Great image qual... Show More

Had To Send Mine Back
My $. camera arrived and within ten minutes I found it defective. From a distance of three feet, the autofocus front-focused by more than two inches. This would be a terrible performance even for a cheap camera. How can a unit like this leave the factory? For that price do they not test each camera? Apparently not, and now there are no replacements because Sony has stopped shipping them (but will not say why, which is unfair to owners of this camera, and really disgraceful.I suspect there are others like this out there. If you buy one, be sure to test autofocus immediately.

Impressive but not a point and shoot
You have to accept the fixed lens limitation and zoom with your feet. Sometimes that's possible, sometimes it isn't. You also have to have good technique because all of your flaws will be magnified by the massive sensor. You probably will have to add accessories to improve its usability: grip bracket, hood and thumb grip. But the resolution is unmatched and if you are very careful you can produce spectacular images. One more thing: get lots of extra batteries; this think burns thru batteries like there's no tomorrow.

Much Improved over RX1R
I used an RX1R for about a month and while it was a great camera, the AF was a huge drawback if anything in the frame was moving. Fast forward to the M2 and the focusing on this thing is fantastic. While it isn't perfect, it does an admirable job of keeping up with my 1 year old for those days I don't want to get the DSLR out. IQ is fantastic and the file sizes haven't been too bad to deal with. Battery could be much better, but there are cheap extra batteries readily available if you don't mind 3rd parties.

Sony RX1R2
I am really excited to put my hands on it. I have been comparing it with other cameras in the market and this new sony keeps popping up to overtake other pro.cameras around. Price is not bad for that type of pro camera, the price of it matches a price of a DSLR body only camera; plus the built in lens that comes with it is a multi purpose lens that serves the necessary situations that a photographer will be put in. My advice to all is to consider this awesome camera that is made by sony.

Great improvement of RX1R
I loved my RX1R but the slow focusing was a bit annoying. The Rx1R II is much faster and is a great camera. The images and versatility of this camera are ideal for me. The new viewfinder is a welcome addition as is the tilting back display. People have been talking about short battery life, I just carry spares. The new case is also great because you do not have to remove it to gain access to the battery compartment. Overall I love this camera and highly recommend it.

DSC-RX1R II, oh how I love thee
Man and camera, a beautiful thing. I've used a Leica M-2 with a 35 mm f/2 lens for decades. The M-2 has the feel of quality. When I picked up this camera, I thought, Oh, the M-2 reincarnated for the digital age! Several hundred pictures later, I feel the same. The DSC-RX1R II (Sony--must the name recapitulate the camera's phylogeny (and please ditch the Roman numerals)? Try something like DSC-5, please.) Light to hold, quiet, quick to use. Beautiful optics.

Simple and Amazing!
After months of research and waiting for this camera; I can say that I'm more the pleased with the image and build quality! I come from using the canon 5d iii with prime 50, 85 1.2 and 16-35 2.8 and I will gladly leave all this canon equipment at home and take just my rx1 rII. It is very easy to navigate around on and adjust the settings in manual mode. This camera is a little muscle on steroids!!!

Most versatile camera !
Excellent performance in low-light / high-ISO situations due to full-frame sensor and sharp 2.0 aperture Zeiss lens. And, with 42mp, can easily crop image to many times original size without pexelization or noticable loss of quality. Easily the best camera I've ever owned (and I've previously owned the Sony NEX6, A6000 and A7s). Strongly recommend adding the fotodiox grip to the RX1r2.

Quite possibly the perfect street shooter
I think the best thing about it is it's size and lightness. I hardly notice that it's dangling from my neck. Handholding 42 mb is nowhere as bad as I'd imagined it to be.. very few of my non-keepers were due to camera motion. Not so hot is the short battery life. Always good to have a couple of spares in your pocket. IQ is excellent!l As is it's low light performance.

JUST A STEP AHEAD
This is a perfect camera for journalists and also street photographers, actually I have to confess that I was planing to buy a7rII with Zeiss Loxia 35 f2 this week, and use it for mostly still images. but this camera just came up with the specs that I was dying for...! But when I checked the price tag... it wasn't like what I've been expected!

Had it and Sold it
Weight was the big issue for me due to some physical restrictions when I purchased it. Did a nice job, but ultimately too dinky in my hands and limited controls. Replaced with a light weight Sony body and 35mm 1.8 lens. New set up is almost as light, a joy to operate, yields even better IQ. Just my story...but maybe this is right for you.

What a great bring anywhere camera
So small you can bring anywhere. Image quality is excellent, better than the rx1. Even the videos taken with the camera is better. Auto focus is fast and very sharp. Love the built quality and the tilt screen. Only con about the camera is the battery life. Worse then the rx1. But battery is cheap. Overall, very happy with purchase.

Uncompressed Raw, WoW!
I feel sorry for the people who buy Sony cameras to find a new model a year later. They are great cameras but, just like the NEX line they put out so many models that it is confusing. Sony should have a special program to give owners of past models, less than 2 years old in best condition, a $$discount on a new model. Huh?

Great Resolution but Hard to Handle
Requires great technique to master the huge sensor. But if you can master your approach you will be rewarded with amazing images. You may need additional accessories like a grip, thumb grip and a hood and lots of extra batteries as this little camera eats through them like there's no tomorrow.

90% Pro Camera in a Point and Shoot Package
Great everyday/travel/casual camera for me. Sure this is probably not the best choice if you are into fast action/sports photography, but for my everyday family/travel use, it's perfect. Small, great pictures, better AF, and 1080p video. It's just what I was looking for.

Small, sharp, serious camera
The pop up viewfinder works beautifully; images are super sharp. For those who like to go out with a single prime lens to intensify and challenge their vision, this tiny camera is perfect. Wear it around your neck on a short tether like some do their eyeglasses.

The best camera of its size
If you want a full-frame camera with about a 35mm field of view, and you don't want to pay extra for a Leica red dot, this is it. The improved autofocus and the pop-up viewfinder fixes the small drawbacks of the original RX1. This is an instant classic.
