Great pocket camera!
This is my 3rd camera- The two others are a Lumix GF-1 and a Nikon D800. By far the best ratio of camera size to performance! Excellent low light noise characteristics, fast and accurate focus, and easily my favorite second camera to take in my pocket while walking around.

So Excited!
I just can't get over the picture quality and the speed of this camera. I'm not used to being able to capture pictures one right after the other and still be able to have good quality outcome. I'm still learning and get excited when I find out other exciting features.

Unbelievable low light performance
Any pocket sized digital camera that gives 1600 ISO photos enlargeable to 13 x 19 without significant noise problems is incredible. My Canon G-10 has been rendered obsolete. Easy to use, excellent image quality, low light capability that approaches the Nikon D700. I bought a Sony DSC828 in 2004 and a DSC R1 in 2007. This one continues a tradition of digicams that approach - and in this case, meet - professional quality. For what it is - a pocket camera - it is without a flaw.

Magnificent...
For a semi professional use, no comparison... A bit difficult to learn how to use, but you can overcome that with a bit of patient.

Great little camera!
I needed a small camera to carry in my purse, when I didn't want to carry my Nikon DSLR. This camera is great....small, compact, well built, and the quality of the photos are wonderful. I love having RAW files as well as JPEG...a lot more versatility. I am amazed at how sharp the photos are. It's easy to use as well. Great little camera. I'll be keeping it for a long time!

So far, so great
I bought this camera to cary in my purse as my DSLR does not fit! And sometimes, I want to snap a photo and have only my iPhone (which is not bad, but limiting). I love the high ISO without much distortion and shooting in dark places has been a great advantage. Also, the focus is very fast and action shots are much better than my G10. The saturation is also good, but so is my Canon G10. I am still adjusting to the camera's logic and menues, but i... Show More

Quality camera in a small package
It's a great, pro-quality camera that fits in your pocket. It doesn't repalce a DSLR but is sure great to have as a supplement or when you don't want to carry a big camera around. It actually encourages photo-taking because of its compact size--you will use it when you wouldn't consider using the big DSLR, like at a party or in a restaurant as well as on travel excursions.I've had the battery drain from fully charged to no charge the next time I ... Fantastic Camera!!!
I am using this camera in any and all situations and I am amazed at the features and quality packed into this well made Sony camera. I have had SLR's for the past 40 years and technology has definitely made advances that are truly beneficial in photography and they all seem to be packed into this camera. The only nit is that the body is on the slippery side and I recommend buying the Sony case for it.

Nice for a pocket camera
It's a bit larger than you'd want for a pants pocket but goes nicely into a jacket pocket. It can produce spectacular shots for a point and shoot. On the down side there is no manual focus and it is sometimes difficult to get it to focus on small close-up shots, e.g. insects, flowers, etc. The 3.6X zoom is inadequate and the digital zoom produces unsatisfactory results. Don't plan on having this as a DSLR replacement. However it can prove to be a nice supplement for your DLSR.

Great Pocket Camera for the Professional
I have been looking for a shirt pocket sized camera with a large sensor, RAW imaging, little shutter lag and high resolution for a long while. Finally I have found that camera in the Sony DSC-RX100. This little gem makes me willing to leave my large DSLR cameras at home. At 20mp the sensor has more than enough resolution. The large sensor allows for much lower noise than comparable point and shoot cameras. I was amazed at the lack of shutter lag.... Show More

Amazing Camera
I only had it for a couple of weeks, took 300 pics and a few movies and so far it delivers!! Most of the reviews I read about this camera seem accurate: best compact camera to date, period ! Of course there is room for improvement but without a doubt it's a winner ... once you have decided that you're going to spend $ to get it (that's why only 4 stars rating).

A fantastic point and shoot camera!
I was excited to find a Sony Camera that uses a SD card. The Zeiss lens is outstanding, especially in low light situations. The camera is well made with a solid feel to it. Battery life could be better and it is easy to turn it on accidentally!

Almost better than a dslr.
i purchased this camera to be a backup to my dslr. After using several days this became my major camera. The image quality is very impresive for a pocket camera. ts really fast and with f1.8 i can easily shoot dark scenes. Things that arent so great are: Distortion at wide shoots (easily corrected with photoshop), and focal lenght. i wish the lens was wider. Overall this is an incredible camera.

satisfying camera, sharp learning curve
a smart camera with excellent image quality in this size. Touchy to use. After two weeks, I still find myself in programs and features that I did not intentionally select

Super Friendly Super Quality
Use the product for everyday carry-about photos. Menus are also easy to use quickly, something I'm pretty picky about. Preset photo modes are actually fun to use for both stills and video. Picture quality and colors are spot on. All in all, its a LOT of camera in a small package for a good price.

amazing camera
This is a great item to have for a second camera for pros, or hobbyists. Amazing only camera for everyone else! small and powerful, pro features and quality. Expensive, but there's nothing else like it on the market.

I am going to be pleased with the RX100.
Initial RAW images show fine detail and the basic colour is good. My problem is to learn and properly master all the facilities that the camera offers. That's not a simple task for me! A rewarding upgrade from the Canon G9, which you sold to me some years ago. I'm very left handed. The flash and light sensor are difficult to avoid. Thank you for the prompt, safe delivery. Bert

Excellent for the purpose
I wanted a camera that takes excellent photos to use in situations where I can't or don't wish to bring a larger camera. The RX-100 is perfect for this purpose. It does not have all the capacities of an SLR or a NEX-7, but it has many of them. And its image quality is extremely good, well beyond what any rival camera could provide in these circumstances..

A small powerhouse
Absolutly a small powerhouse full of features. I have both full size DSLR and NEX mirrorless cameras. All are great for their purpose. But there is always a need for a pocket camera - something so small that you can carry anywhere - cell phone cameras are ok in a pinch. So far I think Canon has ruled this market with their S95 and S100 cameras - not to say that some Panasonics with Leica lenses and the Leica branded Panasonics for example have not... Show More

The perfect pocket camera
Solid construction with wonderful sensor with RAW capture. It's small package is perfect for me to always have on me for that sudden surprise image that you can make into a gallery quality large print. For what it is there's nothing at all that's not great. I shoot a Leica M9 for my next larger camera and though the Leica sensor & lenses are wonderful, this little SONY certainly holds it's own.

WOW
This is a fit in your shirt pocket camera that takes incredible pictures. The large sensor allows for extra sharp prints even if you shoot wide and crop, as I often do. The pop up flash can be bent back and used as a bounce flash! How cool! It has a full set of manual adjustments if you are so inclined but, I found the automatic modes very good. A perfect second camera for DSLR owners. The camera also does great HDR work. it would be absolutely p... Show More

The BEST so far!
The best so far for a pocketable DSLR like type camera. Picture quality is great with larger senser. But, it lacks the key feature needed - a view finder. You really can't see screen in daylight so all the fine adjustments become useless. The RX200 or whatever is surely on the drawing board. I recommend waiting to save $!!
