Fantastic lens
I just got back from spending a week in Tahoe shooting content with this lens. I've shot with high end glass my entire career including Zeiss, Hasselblad, and Phase One and can tell you that this 50mm 1.4 is optically superior to any lens I've ever shot with. The price tag is high, but it's what you pay for optics on this level. The rendering in fine detail is incredible, focus is very fast, manual focus has a really nice feel to it, build qualit... Simply a great and enjoyable lens!!!
I am coming from the Sony A7RIII and been with Sony for the last 10 years and switch to the S1R this April and have not looked back. The user experience and the output I get from the S1R is just superb. When I had the A7RIII the Sony/Zeiss 50mm F1.4 ZA stayed glued to my camera. So when I switched over to the S1R I needed a 50mm so naturally I picked up the Panasonic 50mm and boy I am happy I did. The color, sharpness, rendering (it has a Lei... Show More

An amazing lens for both photo and video
This pristine piece of glass is on my Lumix S1 and its really an amazing lens. The micro sharpness, color and contrast as well as the creamy bokeh is in same league as Zeiss Otus 55mm. And the performance is all available from f/1.4!

Shockingly Great
I had not used a 50mm lens since I first started. These particular prime lenses were very tainted to me because they have always been soft in just about all brands. Sigma changed that with their 50mm Art but this LUMIX lens is on another level even from that. Its just razor sharp but yet with super soft fall off. Its an expensive lens but if you value this level of quality you will want to have it in your collection. The build quality is outstanding.

It's a Dream
This lens was supposedly built as the standard with which every new L lens should be measured by.. and I truly hope that's true. The quality from the build, to the color rendition, handling, and falloff is nothing short of stunning. My only critique is that it's a bit large, but if that's what they must do to make this beauty what it is, then so be it. It's awesome.

Wow. Sharp.
Rented this lens for a few weeks for a few shoots and, wow, this lens is sharp. Super sharp. It's heavy and big for a 50mm f1.4, but Panasonic was definitely going for superior sharpness with this lens - and they delivered. Incredible image quality.

Amazing Lens!!
I rented this lens for a wedding, I used it mostly for video with the DS1. By far the best lens Ive ever used, I shot a lot on 1.4 and my subjects were still incredibly sharp with silky smooth background. The worst thing about this lens is that it makes all my other pictures and video look like garbage (as they were shot with different lenses). This lens sets a new standard in quality. Now Im saving up! Very happy with its performance - coupled with the DS1 is a match made in heaven!

The 50mm Lens to Beat
Image quality with this lens is nearly indistinguishable whether youre shooting at f/1.4 or f/8. My shots are tack-sharp, yet bokeh and falloff are smooth and progressive. Autofocus is quick and quiet and the MF clutch with a linear focus scale is game-changing. Its large and heavy, but otherwise very hard to fault.
