Fantastic professional video features
Everything you've heard about this camera is true. The Panasonic GH4 is truly revolutionary in terms of professional video recording features packed into such an affordable and small package. I am a full-time freelance videographer, and like many others, I am in the process of moving away from using larger DSLR bodies and lenses in favor of a smaller, faster and more affordable mirror-less format. And to be honest, while 4K is great and really mak... Excellent Camera
Unlike most reviewers, we came to the GH4 from the pro video camera side, not the DSLR side. We started with the Panny HPX500 and 170, known as P2 cameras for their very expensive recording cards. For ENG style shooting, they are hard to beat. But the prime lens depth of field was very difficult to achieve so we searched for video cameras that offered that look and work flow. That lead us to the AF100s and micro four thirds lenses. I hears some c... Show More

Worth the wait
I grew up using Nikon film SLRs and learned to shoot that way. I considered the GH3 when it came out but was discouraged by the quality of the electronic view finder, and a few other missing features. The GH4 is the answer to my urge for a hybrid camera with good features, image quality and compactness. Out of the box I like it a lot. Feels very good in the hand. The viewfinder is great, clear and easy to see (I wear glasses). Within a short peri... Show More

Fabulous Camera & Videographic device
I am really impressed with this big little camera. I shoot stills and video equally often, but sometimes wait too infrequently between photographic bouts. I expected a steep learning curve and worried, thus, about how capable I would be using this camera when I must fulfill some need, quickly. But Lumix GH4 has an easy to understand menu, and there is much free information on the internet and youtube to help with easy operation. In fact, even wit... Show More

Lovely Video Production
I won't go into full detail about my GH4 experiences, since it is well reviewed and has been out for a while. I use this exclusively for video production and couldn't be happier. It's an inexpensive workhorse with great video quality. I've put this into service on everything from run and guns to interviews to full on studio productions and it doesn't disappoint. If you're simply into gear this little guy is no longer the top of the line in 2018.... Show More

Great 4K Video and Pix Camera
This camera is an affordable 4K video camera that also shoots great pictures. I know now I can take cutting edge 4K video of my family. But it is also easy to take 1080 videos. Also, for regular pictures it has focus peaking so you could use other 4/3 lenses that don't have autofocus but you can still quickly focus with the focus peaking. I also like the wifi which allows me to control the camera with my iPhone and also transfer pictures to the i... Show More

Love this camera
My first official foray into the DSLR world! Coming from the more old-school ENG/camcorder form factor environment, making the DSLR transition is made sweeter by the attention Panasonic payed to the videographer with the GH4 and it's predecessors the GH2&3. It has many of the features any videographer needs to shoot video professionally and the cake is iced with the stunning cinema 4K quality images. Pair it with a quality professional audio adap... Superb video, great photos, ergonomics; careful in low-light
I bought my GH4 in 2015 and have used it in all types of weather in several different countries. I love this camera and use it as a hobby/ enthusiast as well as for work. Great photos. Simply marvelous videos. Excellent slow-mo. Handheld with NO IBIS at 60p has given usable results (especially when you're getting the story!). Cinema 4k is excellent. Cine-D log for grading later has been a bonus. Too bad we can't upload videos because that's whe... Show More

GH4 - awesome, but...
PROS + CONS GH4 - great image quality (8 bit is limit of in-camera cards) - 4K in-camera recording, awesome - works as smooth as GH3. Up and running in minutes - need new higher speed cards for storage INTERFACE UNIT - XLR-type power supply and cord not included in kit? Huge oversight - Sync problems when using SDI outs and in-camera down-convert when shooting 4K. AV sync is almost useless when camera attempts to down-convert for monitoring HD si... Show More

Excellent camera, lightweight, small
I have sold my Canon 6D, and bought Panasonic GH4. This is a great camera. So much lighter than the 6D (if you count in the lenses too). Smaller, easier to handle, and I found that I tend to carry this camera much more often than 6D, and the best camera is the one you have with you. For me, this is superior camera for travel, it shoots very nice stills, and video... Video is GREAT. I have only 3 lenses with this one, and that is more/less enough ... Show More

They Finally Got It Right!
There's a million reviews about this product. I'll just throw my 2 cents in and say, yeah... great camera.I've long shot on the GH2. I am so glad I waited on the GH4. The GH3 is still fantastic, but the big difference for me is Focus Peeking. I've always had trouble with my focus looking soft. Not a problem anymore. Focus Peeking insures I'm razor sharp.Drastic improvements coming from the GH2. Too many to list. And photos... I can FINALLY take p... Show More

GH4 in low light live event coverage
well. let's see how do I begin. I ordered the GH4 back in July 2014 and once it arrived I was able to test it on a lake in New Hampshire with natural light and at an amazing night club called Sound in Hollywood. A few things: a. it feels very light and plastic and very small in my hands.b. I needed to get a metabones Nikon mount adapter and ended up getting the Metabones Nikon G to Micro Four Thirds Speed Booster.c. I shot everything handheld whi... Show More

Not good for my films
I realize that some people love this camera and use it religiously. I however was horrible disappointed when I used if for the first two times. I film weddings, promotional videos for the web as well as local commercials. I was spoiled by the 5D mkiii and it's cinematic footage. Yes the depth of field from a L-series 1.2 50mm prime is epic... and with the GH4 and the tiny tiny tiny micro 4/3rds sensor you're not going to get anything even remotel... Show More

The Best
I literally use this each week. I am a freelance videographer and a Video Supervisor for the Ontario Hockey League. This thing gets the job done in pretty much any situation I'm in. Great for sports, weddings and music videos for sure. I ended up biting the bullet and getting the $600 metabones speedbooster so I could use this camera with my Canon lenses. Glad I did. This paired with a Tamron 24-70mm L makes some amazing images. The sharpness on ... Show More

I have 3 GH4 cameras and love them, even in low light
I shoot weddings and some commercial work. I've been working with DSLR and BMD cameras for years, and I still shoot with my Production Camera all the time (It's 100% the best camera in it's price range for video work), but my M-F job calls for Product Photos and this lead me to the GH4, which I originally only got for Product Photos and then ended up buying two more for filming weddings with. Luckily I have not had any issues with the GH4, and al... Show More

stone cold reliable bang-for-the-buck
This camera pretty much embodies the promise of compact mirrorless for video work. I choose the appropriate cameras for each job, everything from F55's and Alexas to smartphones, for a small documentary package in questionable environments this is the tool but in a pinch it will do way more. Believe me, I know all about Sony and Canon, I use them and own them, but this is just a way better thought-out and reliable package than an A7s, and that's ... Show More

Returned
This camera has focus that is so slow that it is unusable. Sometimes it works. Other time the camera just decides to stop focusing. Overall I come from the Sony $ video camera genre of life where everything is so easy, so good and so consistent that it always looks good no matter how fast you're working or what you face. This camera is the opposite. If you're a cinematic guy who wants to noodle for hours for one shot this is a great choice. As stu... Show More

GH4 w/ YAGH interface - Pretty Impressed
I'm a commercial videographer and filmmaker. I primarily use this project for situations when I want a more polish feel to the video. With the firmware update, the Variable Frame rate option is spectacular - 1/4 speed overcranking at Full HD for a camera of this class is pretty spectacular. Syncro-Scan was an awesome and impressive feature. The OLED monitor is a vast improvement of the previous systems. The build is sturdy and durable, and the di... Show More

Great little camera
Just updated from my old T3i to the GH4. Even though I haven't had enough time with it, it feels great. The small sensor is not a negative aspect if you're like me and will use it with a Metabones Speedbooster. Though it doesn't excel in low-light like the 5D mk3 or the low-light monster A7s, it's not as bad as people say it is. After working with the T3i over 2 years I was used to shoot in poorly lit places like bars and parties, using fast lens... Show More

Its basically a shrunken down DSLR. m43 sensor and EVF allows a lightweight camera body and very lightweight high quality lenses. Nice Camera, Good for Video as well as Stills
I use the GH4 for primarily personal use and few unpaid productions (I'm retired). It serves half the time as a 2nd camera and half the time as the primary 1st camera (or only camera). Although it holds up to it's reputation for filming 4K video, I have found it quite capable for taking stills. I have mounted the GH4 cage, and attached is an Atomos Ninja Flame 4K recorder, shotgun mic and sometimes a Zoom H4n audio recorder. I have the V-Log L up... Show More

A Better Hybrid
Today I'm parting with two cameras that I love. The Lumix GH2 and GH3 are terrific cameras. They definitely produced impressive video and stills for me and my clients.
