Great Camera for an old film guy
Im an old Nikon film guy that is just getting back into photography after many years of abstinence. I've tried point and shoot digital cameras and of course the IPhone but have not found anything that meets my needs for flexibility and image quality. I still do a lot of outdoor activity but weight and bulk have become much more important. I needed something that could withstand the elements and have the flexibility to shoot close as well as lands... Show More

Great camera!
I really don't have any negatives to say about this camera body. It's feels so solid and well made yet compact and light compared to my Canon equipment. Some reviewers complain about the menu system but I don't really have a problem with it.

This is one solid camera!
Feels like I am holding a brick, without the weight. Have not taken too many photos, haven't had it long, but the 5 axis stabilization is something I can actually feel. A few photos at 150 (300 35mm), and even using digital 2x, the fpview through the view finder looks locked down with minimal movement. It is probably something I can adjust, haven't found it yet, but it seems to take longer than desired to wake up after it puts itself to sleep after a period of non-use. Overall, very happy with purchase.

EXCELLENT!
Having worked with Canon DSLR Full Frame and lower range cameras, i was a bit weary purchasing this machine. I have to admit though - it SERIOUSLY competes with the higher end cameras out there! it is an AMAZING machine at relatively low budget! the only issue that you will have with this machine (if you have experience working with Canon dSLR's is getting used to a few of its settings! some fundamental differences between canon machines. Great value for a high quality 4/3 camera
My first 4/3 camera. Very impressed with the capabilities of the m5 MarkII! Stabilization system is amazing, easily giving 4-5 stop advantage. Can do just about everything an SLR can do with the obvious size/weight advantage. This would be 5 stars if it came with a larger sensor, either a 1.5 crop factor APS-C or full-frame size. No doubt Olympus will increase sensor size some time in the future, but for now this camera takes outstanding pictures.

Best in Class
I have this and the OM-D EM-1 and frankly, I don't really use it anymore. This camera is more compact and just as powerful. This camera pretty much defines all that is fantastic about the micro four thirds system. Also, it's retro look is quite attractive.

Awesome.
Love this camera. Great color, endless customization, lightweight, small. Everything I wanted in a travel camera. Not the most user friendly design right off the bat, so I will take some getting used to. Bought this camera as a low profile travel companion to take into even the busiest cities and still feel comfortable carrying it. Would definitely recommend, especially for those who love to travel and explore. LOVE the weather sealing, wouldn't have purchased without it.

Fall in love with a camera
Love this camera! It's menu is a steep learning curve for me, but the OMD in depth video from B & H on You Tube Presented by Brian Rycyk (olympus rep) is extremely helpful, So Thanks B&H! I also love the amazing stablization this camera has. I'm using the Zuiko 12-40 pro lens and pictures are sharp, crisp and just plain fun to take. There are more customizing possibilities than I will ever use, but if I decide I want to, I certainly can!

Why I sold my Olympus OMD E-M5 mark ii
This is not a traditional review but rather some thoughts I have on the Olympus OMD E-M5 mark ii, based on my experience. I had owned this camera for 8 months and took over 12,000 photos. I used some good lenses, which are mentioned below. I wanted a better camera than what the small sensor and 1-inch cameras were delivering. I read the hype on the Olympus system including boastful statements that DSLR owners are switching over to Olympus cameras... Show More

All in all, a great camera
I purchased the OM-D E-M5 Mark II as part of the 3-lens Pro-Kit deal last March. I had previously purchased the E-M10 Mark II, and, the original E-M5 and was very satisfied with their performance. Then, I got this camera...Wow! The difference between the E-M5 Mark II and the original E-M5 were considerable, the eye-level viewfinder in the Mark II is exponentially better, much clearer, with much more detail. Overall features and functions are simi... Show More

Great pro camera on a budget
I am used to using the Canon and Nikon pro cameras but was never able to afford one for myself. I turned to the Olympus because of cost and the very good features it has. One of the best features is the 4:3 and 16:9 switchable formats. I can do video in 16:9 and portraits in 4:3. I use 2 flashes off the camera with umbrellas and the sync perfectly off the flash included with the camera.

A Nice Upgrade
This is a nice upgrade to the original EM5 which I also have. I appreciate the extra additional function buttons although I disabled the HDR one next to the shutter release because I've hit it inadvertently a couple of times. It is easy enough to turn it back on - once you've learned to navigate the menus. All and all - a nice upgrade for a decent price. And of course I have to mention the usual quick service in fulfilling my order by B&H.

Good, but not great
upgraded my E-M5 to the MK II about a year ago and have been using it most of the time. I have found that the fly-out screen is less useful than the tilt screen on the original E-M5 and is often in the way. Were that the only issue I would probably give it five stars, but the control set is fairly baroque. I have managed to map the buttons into a somewhat useful configuration, but that has taken time and effort, along with many trial runs. The hi... Show More

I Love It
At first, I was going to regret purchasing this. I'm not a pro photographer, and I was previously using a Canon T3i. I wanted to move into the mirrorless level since my DSLR was really bulky to put into my bag. In the beginning, the functionality was different and I wasn't used to it. The electronic viewfinder was a bit strange, but I got over it. I love every feature of this body. The metal construction, the weatherproofing, and all the features... Show More

Great camera - just as expected from all the reviews.
Nice compact body. Reasonable handling with my Panasonic 2.8 zooms. HDR and High Resolution modes are interesting upgrades and will be useful (although requiring a tripod for best performance). Nice that it shares the same battery as my older Olympus EP-5. Remarkably quiet shutter and very detailed viewfinder. All-in-all, perfect fit for my hiking and traveling needs.

Street camera body with a studio camera mind :-)
i've been watching the evolution of digital cameras for quite a few years now. This is the first digital camera i've owned since my old film camera, a Canon A1. For me to pull the trigger on a digital camera, it had to be compact, light weight, ruggedly built, be capable of excellent image quality, offer great control over settings and i saw the value in fully articulated display screens. With these old eyes, it also had to have a diopter adjusta... Show More

I love this camera
Originally purchased for hiking due to its size and weight, I have come to rely more and more on this camera for street and general photography. Image quality, versatility, ease of use make this camera a joy to use. Auto focus is fast but I also use manual focusing for much of my work.

OLYMPUS KEEPS RAISING THE BAR
Two things I must say first: I am not a pixel hound and I am not ready for 4K video, so this camera works just fine for me. It is fully featured, light, elegant, easy to work with and with a plethora of fantastic lenses and lens adaptability, how can you go wrong? I think the price will drop slightly before the Holidays, so if you are looking for a camera that takes great pictures (and videos too), then I highly recommend this one. The BH PHOTO consistently delivers high quality products at a great price. And no, they did not pay me to say that.

Quality / Repair Concerns
I bought a new OMD EM-5 from B&H in July 2015. B&H did good. Olympus not so much. I'm a heavy user but I was very careful to treat the camera well. Took it in the field a lot, subjected to rain twice, never dropped or damaged from handling. I probably took more than15,000. Not a lot when you consider you can expect 100,000 to 150,000 from a Nikon DLSR. In August 2016, 13 months after purchase, a month out of warranty, the shutter broke. Only Olym... Show More

What a camera!
After touring 9 national parks out west with my nikon D7000, a 70-200 f4 lens, a wide angle lens, and a 65-85 lens, I called uncle! I didn't use all the lenses because my kit was just to flipping heavy. The straw that broke my back was having to use my head, literally to hoist my bag into the overhead bin coming home. The first time I heard about this camera was from a Nat Geo photographer who used it on his magazine shoots to get into places whe... Show More

My favorite camera!
Before purchasing this camera, I rented at least one pro micro 4/3 camera offering from each of the manufacturers. The 5-axis stabilization that is built into this camera works magic. And the user interface, ergonomics, tilting screen, and fantastic lenses of the Olympus all won me over. This is one solid camera. If you are looking for a professional micro 4/3 camera, look no further. I am looking forward to whenever a Mark III of this or a Mark II of the EM-1 comes out, hopefully with higher resolution. But this is more than capable in the meantime.

I'm loving this camera, I have the e-m5 mark 1 and decided to upgrade to the Mark 2 for it's additional features and have not been disappointed! The improved image stabilization is visible even through the evf which is incredibly helpful, and the focus peaking is great! Can't wait to try out the 40 mega pixel high res mode
