The Best
This product is really great for my everyday use. I'm a recording/mixing engineer I use pro tools 12.5 and this is great for my workflow. Whats great about this is that you can set the 4 buttons on this trackball to function how you want it to function. Not in just 1 application. You can have multiple applications set up the way you want it to work for you. Or you can have it do certain things for all applications. SWEET!!!! Theres is nothing bad... Show More

Good hardware, software a bit weak
The unit itself is very nice, the ball action is a bit slippery - it can tend to overshoot but maybe Ill get used to it. Software-wise, for those of us who have disabled Windows updates during the course of an Avid editing project (a wise move Im told) I have problems with the drivers. When I download the Trackballworks software one needs to program the buttons & adjust the settings the trackball stops working and Im told I need to update the dri... Show More

So happy again to have this!!
I hate mice, they are just annoying with the moving and having to pick it up and move again. I had one of these when it 1st came out and LOVED it. but after many years of use it got tired and then I knocked it off the desk by accident and that was that. At the time I was poor and couldn't afford a new one. But then recently B&H here had it on a ridiculously awesome sale of less than 1/2 price so I snatched it up. you do have to kinda break them i... Great for reducing repetitive stress
This product -- especially when combined with a split ergonomic keyboard -- helps to reduce stress on your wrists. Clutching the mouse puts a lot of stress on the muscles in your forearm. But you roll this big trackball with your open hand. Instead of clutching the mouse button, you can simply tap one of the big programmable buttons with your thumb, and the mouse locks and drags until you tap the button again, when it releases. The scroll wheel i... Show More

Efficiency & Flexibility
Have been using Kensington Trackballs for years because they require only the footprint space; no moving the mouse around. Trackball movement can be programmed for rapid cursor movement or for precise, minute movements. 4 buttons can also be programmed, e.g. one for click, one for double click, one for click & drag, one for right button menu; the buttons can further be programmed for chording (using two buttons at the same time) for even more ope... Good but not great
I want to like this thing. As others stated its greatest shortcoming is the scroll ring, it sucks really bad. It's almost like it was designed to suck, with regularly spaced detents that make it an unsmooth scrolling experience. The actual trackball is great. I don't have the wrist angle issues that some others noted, however on the software end one thing that is quite annoying is that when booting up my machine (iMac 5K) it always defaults back ... Great tool
Just bought my 4th one. No problems with any. All but one still operational, two after many years of use. From time to time, you do need to clean the trackball bed, of any dust build up but it's easy since the trackball is easily removed and re-placed.With this trackball I can speedily navigate thru all my open windows, using multiple monitors(2-3)at a time.I have used other brands with smaller trackballs, and although they have served their purpo... Still, a lot better than a mouse
I'm a little ambivalent - I've owned this very thing before. Thougfh it looks identical, this one seems a little stiff, even clunky -the laser that tracks the ball is so bright I am afraid it might blind me if i'm not carefull - however, the button function combinations are terrific, as before, and the scroll ring, feeling stiff, moves nicely through the document/page, and the ball itself, feeling a little stiff too, tracks very nicely - it feels... Not worth the upgrade w/o drivers for Windows10
As a happy user of the Kensington Expert Mouse, I was excited to see this new wireless model available. Much to my disappointment, the supplied trackballworks software does not recognize the trackball for setup on Windows 10. This problem is present both over bluetooth (currently using microsoft universal HID-device driver), as well as the provided 2.4GHz USB dongle. Steps were taken to install the software before BT pairing or plugging in the US... Show More

Love the Kensington Expert Mouse
I've used the Kensington Expert Mouse for years now and won't do without it. I recently bought a new iMac with the new Magic Mouse. I did like the scrolling ability of the Magic Mouse but after a week I broke down and bought another Kensington Expert Mouse. It has much more accuracy and stability than the Magic Mouse. Plus, the trackball is easier on my hands and wrist than a traditional mouse. I'm on the computer all day and do everything i can ... Show More

my favorite input device
I've been a fan of Kensington trackballs since the mid-90s with the Turbo Mouse. Eventually they die and I buy another. This Expert Mouse adds the scroll ring which is useful. I use a MacBook Pro and process tons of pictures in Lightroom/Photoshop. When new, these trackballs don't roll smoothly, but with use, they get break in and get very smooth to the point that a simple flick with send the ball through a few revolutions. The scroll ring, on th... Show More

Limited Mac Compatibility
I purchased this trackball along with a new Apple laptop. I also downloaded the Kensington trackball software for the Macintosh only to find that it does not recognize the trackball. According to Kensington support they have no plans on supporting this trackball for Mac users. With out sftware only 2 of the four buttons do work as does the scroll ring. You will not be able to make any adjustments, define buttons, scroll direction, trackball speed... Show More

Pleasantly Surprised
I bought this trackball out of necessity because my older Kensington died. That was a Kensington Expert Pro Mouse with six additional DirectLaunch buttons. I really thought I'd miss the DirectLaunch buttons but that hasn't been the case. Right out of the box the roller ball didn't move smoothly and I thought Oh great, I got a dud. I figured I'd use it a bit and see how it went. After a half hour of doing so it freed up and has been fine since. Th... Show More

Durable and don't want to miss it
About 18 years ago I went into a @ and saw them use the first version of the Kensington trackball. It was extremely dirty and showed its continuous use and age. But it worked extremely well. Back then I was so impressed that I bought one. I never regretted it and even after extreme long usage they still last.No matter what you are using it for - it gives a much better feeling then a mouse: Very precise cursor control - or - when playing games you... J'ust the thing for someone with dexterity-challenged hands.
I purchased the Kensington Expert Wireless Trackball to use with a new laptop because I needed something that would give me the ability to control the pointer with greater precision than either the track pad or a regular mouse. My hands are partially paralyzed and I cannot control the pointer with any precision with either. The small-diameter trackballs are equally difficult for me. The large diameter Kensington is the solution and works great. M... Show More

I love the extra buttons
No more pain using the Kensington Expert trackball. Before using this I had RSI when using a regular mouse and then horrible pain in the base of my thumb when using an ordinary thumb trackball. Now I mostly use the palm of my hand or multiple fingers to move the cursor. Beyond the right & left clicks, I use the other buttons (or combination of buttons) for double click, drag, copy and paste. There are a lot more choices. The only problem is the s... Show More

B&H came through for me......
I'm across the border in Toronto, Canada and I use a trackball almost exclusively. With my current model starting to drag a bit - which means jerky motion and no good for graphics - I did my research and found B&H with a very good price.I ordered the Kensington Expert Pro Trackball, ...Well done, B&H, you are a winner, you have my attention, and you are on my A-list. I would definitely order from you again - after doing my (mandatory) price resea... Show More

works well for users with hand tremors
I bought the mouse for my grandfather who struggles with hand tremors. There are a lot of great features: - ability to change the button functions to make it a left-handed mouse, or even turn off the buttons so he can rest his hand on them - ability to turn on the axis controls so that when holding down a button (e.g. the control button on your keyboard), the mouse will only move along an axis the only change i'd make to the device is to allow us... Not What I Expected
I needed a new mouse, so when this came up on sale, I decided to give it a try. I've never used a trackball before, but I liked the idea of having a stationery mouse that doesn't roll all over the place, and the reviews were good. I've been using this for a couple months now, so I'm over the learning hump, but I just can't seem to get used to it. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but it just seems to take a lot more effort to do anything. If I'm e... Show More

Horrible
I bought this mouse because Microsoft discontinued the trackball explorer with program specific buttons. This thing is BAD, I use it for autocad, sketchup, photoshop, etc. where you need program specific shortcuts. 1- this stupid mouse won't let you program enter as a button!?!? 2- you can't program different buttons for different programs, each time I change programs I need to reprogram the buttons. 3- WAY TOO BIG, this thing is about the most u... Must have for Video Editing
I've never used a trackball so I bought this because I needed more precise wheel movement on a professional video editing software. This is nice. I would have given it a 5 stars but the wheel has a slight rough turn and feels like sticking so I bumped it down to a 4. Other than that, this is a cheaper alternative to a Wacom tablet if you need precision editing. When I bought this, only the wired version was on sale (Deal Zone). I would rather hav... Show More

Kensington 4-Button USB Expert Pro Mouse - Best there is!
I've been a trackball user for over 15 years. Most of my day is spent doing graphic design, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. After learning to use a trackball I would never go back to a regular mouse. The efficiency this device provides is unparalleled, programmable buttons make repetitive actions/tasks easy. I actually bought this as a backup as my original Expert Mouse which is going on 7+ years, but still works perfect. Although now with lots of use some of the finish has worn off the buttons, etc. Kensington builds great products, hope they never stop making this mouse. Happy trackball user!

Excellent
I am an Architect that uses AutoCAD for design. Utilizing a trackball for design is nearly required with the control it allows within the software. I have been searching for a couple years for one that actually gives such precision control and still feels comfortable in your hand. After testing at least 10 other trackballs this one has fit the bill perfectly. Completely customizable. Completely comfortable. Offering complete precision control. As far as B&H goes, I ordered it on a Tuesday and it was at my door on Wednesday when I got home from work. What more can you ask for? Great job B&H!

Still the best trackball
While this model is operationally identical to my 20 year old 4 button, it has a more modern look. It also comes with a wrist rest and it has a scroll dial which can be useful but it isn't as smooth as I would expect. There is a small learning curve and a lot of getting used to, but well worth the effort. Be careful of Carpel Tunnel Syndrome - just find the most comfortable wrist position and stick with it. If you start feeling uncomfortable change your position. Often the slightest change makes a world of difference. Once you use a large format trackball, you'll never go back to a mouse.
