I have read quite a few complaints about this model III concerning its lens problem (shutter does not close etc...) I have two models II and III, none of them have any problem whatsover (Though I hate the fact they were made in China. I don't like any men's toys made in China AT ALL). I've sold my Nikon DSLR system equipment and wanted a smaller camera without a great sacrifice in photo quality. This little camera is just right for me. Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 III Digital Camera
Used mostly for street shooting and in museums. Excellent little camera, love how compact it is, can carry it around in a small case on my belt. Still photos are very sharp and bright even indoors without flash. Video quality is very exciting.Superior to the original RX100, which I had previously. Not cheap but well worth the price. No negatives.

This is great!
Used for home/family and travel when lightweight is a requirement. Beyond that, the results are beyond belief. Quality of photos is excellent, as good as on my SLR. The only shortcoming is the limited range of zoom, but that is well offset by the portability when travelling! A great camera.

Disappointingly Fussy Camera
I hoped this would be the travel camera of my dreams. It is small, with an excellent lens, great image quality and an EVF; but I was sadly disappointed by its fussy ergonomics. The video button is actually set into one side of the thumb pad(!), so count on making frequent unintended videos. The best camera is the one you have with you.
Compact and non-obtrusive, it is great camera to always have with you without attracting too much attention. I feel that more places are becoming more strict in allowing photographs to be taken, more so if you are carrying a big DSLR. Bought the camera for traveling and using as a more sophisticated point and shoot with manual capabilities. Pros: Loved the small, compact size and weight of the camera. Small compact camera really takes great pictures. Didn't think it was possible, but I took a chance and bought the rx100 iii... As a semi-pro photographer, I have to admit I was highly impressed with the pictures. By far, best point and shoot camera that I have ever used and the first that I would recommend to a friend.

Perfect travel companion
This is the perfect travel companion if you don't want to carry your professional or semi-professional gear on a trip. The quality of the pictures is the best I've seen for a 1 sensor. I'm very pleased with this camera, most particularly it's ability to automatically merge multiple exposures to obtain an HDR image. That's a need I had and is the principal reason I was shopping for a new camera. I did not shop DSLR cameras. For my uses a larger, heavier camera is too unpleasant to carry. Good while it lasted
After 6 months the zoom stopped working, inexplicably as it wasn't dropped or damaged. As other reviewers have said, there are a lot of issues with fragility in this camera. The camera feels solid and well made but the moving parts are not I guess.

I purchased this camera to have a high-quality pocket camera with a viewfinder but I was wary about a Sony product because the company's products have degraded in quality over the years. Don't expose it to sea air. goodluck getting it repaired
This is an amazing camera but extremely fragile. Sea air exposure will make it malfunction. you dont have to get it went to make the circuit go haywire. Sony recently changed repair centers from florida to some place in PA. It is not an official sony repair center. It's a random repair center that repairs any camera. Google the location and you will see complains from other users from different brands. so goodluck getting it repaired properly and promptly.

RX100 worst camrera ever
About 2 years ago, I purchased the RX100 from B&H. I really really enjoyed that camera and while it worked, my DSLR gathered dust. Then one day, one week after warranty expired, the lens would not retract or retract on its own. Brought it in to Sony: expensive repair. A month later, lens problems again and sensor would not work. I bought this based on incredible rave review after incredible rave review. Although a little out of my budget, I found that B&H had a high quality used model. Great IQ but disappointing
The Image Quality is excellent at low and even high ISO - 1600 ISO is still acceptable, and I am picky. But there isn't enough commands, it is a little bit too thick for most pockets, the autonomy is too short. Also, I would have preferred a 'multi-role' shoe (flash, EVF) instead of the EVF, that is not practical at all. The zoom stopping at 70mm is also a problem. Great pocket size camera
This is a great camera for travel. It has DSLR sensor quality, a lot of manual controls, and excellent photo quality. It is also very small. I have a few small complaints, but they are minor: 1) You cannot disable the LCD display (or turn it off) when not using it. You have to turn the whole camera off. It would be nice if you didn't have to do that. 2) The battery life is ok, but not great. If you take a lot of photos, you might want to charge it after a day of shooting or it may not make it the next day. Otherwise, it's a great camera that is still worthy of 5 stars.

Excellent picture quality but proprietary RAW format
I bought this camera to be able to take reasonably good photos without carrying my 5D Mk II around. I went on a ski/snowmobile trip and wanted good shots of Yellowstone Park. The pop up viewfinder does display iso/shutter speed, etc. but it is so small I can't see or read anything on it even with my reading glasses on. Great for low light shots!
The Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 III is lightning fast at focusing and takes amazing shots in low light better than any other camera I have used before. The video quality is exceptional as well. I bought this camera to use on my honeymoon and could not be happier with the pictures I took with it. Highly recommend!

The Serious Photographers Compact!
This Sony Rx100 mk3 is a beautiful compact camera for the serious photographer, especially for those who want a camera with them all the time. Results are very impressive from a very high quality lens (24-70mm) The great thing about this camera is that it can shoot in many modes including RAW format which is obviously a must for any serious photography. Build quality generally is very high and compliments all the other many hi tech features of this camera. A highly recommended camera if the price tag works into your budget.
