Solid upgrade from the A6300
I actually had the A6000 prior to this camera, and the upgrade from that model is significant. It was the IBIS that sold me on the A6500 vs the A6300. Both are excellent cameras with the same APS-C sensor. I purchased this with the 16-70 f/4 lens as a compliment to my existing A7RIII system / lenses. I use this as a second camera for video, and I also use it as a compact option when space / bulk is a premium. You can't go wrong with this camera.

Great little camera!
Bought this to use on my Ronin-S to use as a b-cam to my FS7. The ability to shoot SLog is great. I does tend to overheat (hence the 4 stars) after running for a while, so not the best to use for long interviews.

Great walk around combo
There not much I can say about this camera and lens combo but "Great". It is light and the photo quality meets my high standards. This combo plus the Sony E 10-18 will be in my bag for my Cuba vacation.

Great Camera
Sony has really good technology! This one is specifically good for traveling. I just purchased it for a trip, small and easy to carry around! Only issue is that it doesn't come with a battery charger, you have to order one separately.

Sony a6500- GREAT CAMERA
This was my first SLR camera. A great intro(but high end) camera for filmmakers with any level of experience. Easy to use, yet still produces great video! Love it!

Excellent camera and lenses!!!!
Just recently purchased, but the A6500 is proving to be an outstanding camera! I coupled it with the Sony 18-105mm f4 and the Sigma 16mm f1.4, and feel like I am prepared for most anything I desire to shoot. I will be purchasing an adaptor to make use of my vintage Minolta 50mm and Tamron 90mm SLR lenses. B&H Photo service was exceptional and fast!

love the extra flexibility over the 6300
I have had the 6300 for several years and this is definitely an upgrade in terms of ease of use. Paired with the 18-135 it is great for 90% of situations - then I get out my primes.

Amazing service!
Great prices and great service. Everything looked good upon arrival. I got my camera (to Iceland) a couple of days after ordering. Definitely the best service I've gotten when ordering online. Thank you!

Cheap bundle
Quite disappointed today. I received the camera and noticed that the box is unsealed. I don't know if the camera I received came from someone else who returned it. Don't bother with the kit. They are cheap products..the battery is not genuine. The bag is tiny that it only fits a tiny lens. I bought this camera as an upgrade from my Sony A6000 which creates a loud screeching sound and locks the shutter...Unfortunately, this happened again when I i... Show More

Not a shlepp to bring this top camera along
The handling, quality, and portability, as well as importantly clarity and sharpness of the pictures of this camera has made me take it with me more often increasing the times I have a camera ready to take great pictures at meaningful moments with all the functions. It is not a shlepp to bring the camera along.

Not quite
This is my first mirrorless camera. Im a long time user of SLR and DSLR cameras. I purchased it because of the 120fps and 4K capability. Since I have no other experience with this camera type my review will primarily focus on comparisons and contrasts to DSLRs. First, the 6500 is heavy and well-built. Controls and menus are pretty straight forward. Having a viewfinder in addition to the articulated LCD is a plus. I found the video recording butto... Show More

No manual focus on 16-50mm lens
A week in to using the camera, I am quite impressed overall. Purchased as a smaller alternative to lugging around a DSLR, I find the size and images deliver. A couple caveats: 1) the 16-50mm kit lens has no manual focus capability. OK, there is a "mode" to allow some manual fine-tuning of focus, but it's not a replacement for traditional manual focus. To me is a real negative. Notwithstanding good autofocus, there are MANY times that I want to ... Show More

Wow
Does way more than I need. I use strictly old manual lenses and it handles them brilliantly. I also take astrophotos through my homemade 6" Newt. Love the camera.

Amazing Camera packed into a tiny body and affordable price
So I primarily do video, so for this review I don't really get into the camera's stills ability because I have only shot a handful of pictures on it so far. I shoot video semi professionally for my video production business Instrumental Motion. 90% of what I do video was is filming at rock concerts live as it happens with an arsenal of cameras, then I edit it all together in post. Before purchasing the A6500 I was using an arsenal of old Nikon D... Show More

Now I have three of them!
I shoot video on A6500 and even in long events it holds nicely. Just finished dance recital - one hour and 30 mins in 4K continuously in quite hot theatre. Just got that high temperature sign, but kept rolling. Make sure you use battery grip or some external battery, keep LCD screen fully flipped out and use great SanDisk Extreme Pro memory cards. This is 4K camera - 1080p is not that great but when you know what you doing, it gives you great results. Its lightweight, so having three of them in one backpack for wedding shoot is just awesome.

Fantastic footage from a tiny camera
Just purchased the A6500 and 18-105 F4 lens. I shoot concerts generally using multiple cameras placed throughout well lit stages of various rock bands. I have been doing this on older Nikon DSLRs for the past few years before deciding to upgrade to Sony cameras. For the most part I only do video. So far I love the A6500 for its tiny form factor. The lens I got is by no means compact though. My next investment will definitely be a fast prime that... Show More

full of features but...not for all
I put a lot of expectation on this camera. but I m quite disappointed. just to resume my experience. good: -light and small like a compact point and shot camera. -4k videos with nice performance even in low light -has many features (high burst rate, panorama, focus peaking...) drawbacks: -poor battery life -poor autofocus performance in low light (-1EV) -poor viewfinder/screen performance in low light (fireworks, dim light...) -slow and laggy in operations (turn on off, general responsiveness) -uncomfortable to use with "big" lenses such the Sony 18-105 -high price
