Handy little camera for travelling
Needed a lightweight travel camera for a trip to the Midwest. I wanted large RAW files as an end result but, the Canon 5d I use for work was out of the question. The Sony a6300 was the final choice after much research and a recommendation from a very trusted source. Overall very good. Image quality is excellent for not being a full frame sensor. Very handy and compact. Complete control via the Menu gets the adjustments down to the smallest detail... Show More

A really fine camera
I am painter, who does really large canvases start to finish in extremely remote locations, such as camped out on glaciers near Denali. A compact camera that takes sharp photos and videos and is reasonably sturdy and weatherproof is what I need, and the Sony a6300 fits the bill perfectly. I purchased this camera to replace my Nikon d7000. In all regards it serves my purposes better. The menu interface is a bit awkward for me, but familiarity will... Show More

It's perfect for videos
It's really odd to use a mirrorless cam when you use a dslr for years but despite the size it's a great camera. The accuracy of colors is incredible however the definition isn't so good. Maybe it's caused by the poor lens that came with the kit. I feared that the image inside the viewfinder looks pixellated or blurred but I really liked what I saw. It's clean and clear and is better than dslr viewfinder because you can see exactly what you will g... Show More

Amazing Camera with more features than I could imagine
The camera is amazing, there's no doubt about that. My only struggle is (and I don't say this as a negative, just an observation) learning all the settings. I'm coming from a Canon T2i which is pretty straight forward in terms of its settings. The a6300 seems to have unlimited settings and menus, which give you lots of control and at the same time, make it a bit daunting for someone new to the Sony platform. I'm excited to learn more about it and... Show More

Perfect backup companion to you A7'r'r2
I bought this with the kit 16-50, and highly recommend it due to the small size and how light weight it is both together. Also love the fact the optical zoom built so compact into the lens, focus is tack sharp and amazingly fast! The features are similar to the other sony cams. The 4K video is quite amazing, sharp and great colors. Gotta love the various video options/codecs Sony have offered for this little beast. I mainly purchase this cam also... Show More

Exceptional APS-C
I've had the a6300 for about a month and have shot a few thousand photos with it of nature/landscape, people, and products in studio. Fantastic, easy to use and and exceptional accompaniment to the A7RII. Perfect for travel and easy to put into a over the shoulder bag and ride a bike to commute to work, or explore around looking for good light. Both cropped and full-frame lenses work great, however the Sony/Zeiss Full Frame lenses are just stella... Show More

Pleasantly surprised
I am a semi pro who was looking for a light weight camera to back pack with and still get quality images . So far the 6300 fits that just fine. I have paired it with the 18-105 f4 for now. It's a little heavier than I would like so I will add a few primes later. The camera focuses quickly and shoots rapidly. It's packed with numerous useful features like HDR,sweep panorama, and a built in level just to name a few. I've never done a lot of video b... Show More

2 hrs shooting in 1080p mode
I know a lot of comments was before I decided to buy this camera. But seriously it's really camera. Really smooth continuous AF. And I did check camera shooting 2 hr in 1080hd until battery dead without any issues. More than that I did couple of shootings in 4K. It's kind of event video about place, so it was short 5-7 seconds clips. With 1-2 min breaks I did 2hrs as well. And I catched all the stuff what I needed. So cool camera. Good in low lig... Sony a6300 Camera
I am not a professional, but I do research in depth before I buy. I had owned the Sony Nex 6 prior to this and this is such a jump ahead in technology. The focus is light years ahead of that and super fast, which is fantastic. The menu is much easier to use and having the ability to define multiple buttons and menu sections/items is great. With that, each user has the ability to setup the camera to their liking. I've got two different lenses, the... Show More

Had my eyes on this one...
I dropped the idea of getting this last year only due to expensive sony lens lineup. But after too much thinking got this finally with couple sigma primes. I am very glad to make that decision. The size and quality steals me. Good quality APS-C in a handy package was always a dream. You need to take sometime to get used to Sony menu systems. I have been using a RX100II so for me it was not that bad. I don't take long videos thus overheating not a... Show More

Powerful Tool for the Money
This camera is an absolute joy to use, there's no other way to put it. It does have its shortcomings like horrible rolling shutter in 4K video mode, and an LCD that does not flip around to be viewed from the front. If these two things mean a lot to you, then this camera is not for you. However, for me, I use the the camera on a tripod with a monitor, so there is no problem. Simply put, this camera takes gorgeous photos. I am new to the realm of S... Show More

Alpha A6300 Delivers.
I use this camera to shoot Landscapes & Portraits. I love the size of this camera for everyday use. The pictures I have taken so far are very impressive. Even with the kit lens it takes very clear and sharp photos that are very pleasing to the eye. The in app timelapse feature is great and makes it easy to take beautiful videos. There are some draw backs to the camera but not many, mostly I would like to see more customization of the buttons to se... Incredible for the cost and size
We heard so much about this camera and pre ordered it with a kit lens. I was impressed as soon as we started shooting both stills and 4K video. The panoramic mode was a nice surprise it stitched together the shots flawlessly You just pan it the direction of the arrow and the A6300 does the rest. We hooked up our Ninja blade and it recognized it. The 4K footage is beautiful we cut it together with our F5 and it worked out nicely. The only thing we... Show More

NOT WEATHER SEALED
Great camera for all the reasons already mentioned and discussed but something that got me more interested in this camera was in the B&H description stating it was weather sealed magnesium body... In reality it is Dust and moisture resistance as per stated on the Sony website. Also looking at the lens to body mounting seal there is nothing special here and water and dirt will get in. Just be cautious as the camera store salesman told me he would ... Show More

Got it for gimbal work
This camera is incredible when shooting video with a dji ronin or similar gimbal. The continuous autofocus works very well as long as you use a native E mount lens. This guy is the B cam to my a7s A cam and I'm very glad it's got all the same Cine style and Slog profiles plus more. The footage interchanges easily. Plus it has 120fps at 1080p when I need it and 4K. Not bad at all for the price. The kit lens might do the trick if you don't need sha... Show More

Response to first review
Ok so you decided to rate a product that's not even available and give it a red mark for literally no reason?? are you a yelper too? because you're review reeks of irrelevance. I've never seen someone try to pass speculation off as an actual review. I shouldn't even address it, but if you can identify true 4k footage next to UHD footage displayed on the same device, you should receive some sort of award. If you stack this camera against ANY other... Show More

Fantastic Camera!
Only been using this for a week, but it has been fantastic. The quality of the camera itself is impeccable, fits great in the hand, high quality materials. The auto settings take magnificent photos if you don't even know how to use the manual settings. Activating the flash is super easy. Handles low light very well in my opinion. So tempted but still very happy with my a6000
Right off, I don't own this camera. I have the Nex-7 and a6000 along with a Canon 6D. I'm absolutely itching to upgrade but cannot justify the upgrade cost since I have very little to complain about the a6000. Since I mainly do stills, it seems to me the excitement about the a6300 is all about the 4K video. I do like the silent shutter but I have that on my 6D and it was really nice on a recent trip to Italy shooting inside churches during servic... Show More

Great after proper setup
There are an amazing number of settings on this camera. I previously owned an NEX-7 and was always frustrated with the focusing...out of focus shots were way too common. The A6300 has solved the focusing issues with both autofocus and manual focus lenses. I especially like how one can automatically or manually zoom in to tweak critical focus via the back screen or the EVF, with or without focus peaking. I put my Nikon glass on this camera via an ... Perfect for my needs
I was looking to downsize my equipment from full frame canons to something easier and lighter to carry around. The easier it is to carry, the more you will shoot. I still have a 6D, but bought this a6300 with the idea that I would use my Canon L glass. I bought both the Metabones speed booster and the EF to e-mount adapter. This gives me a range of 14mm (fixed at 2.0 with speed booster) to 450mm f/4 (with the 70-300 f/4- 5.6 and the booster) and ... Show More

Powerful camera with a lack of lenses
The camera takes great pictures when you dial it in right but there a lot of issues with usability. The most problematic is the difficulty in changing focus quickly. In order to switch focus points you have to go in to a menu select the proper setting and then manually adjust where you want the point by clicking continuously. The biggest problem however is that there is a sever lack of lenses support for this camera. I tried the metabones adapter... Show More

Great camera for people on the go!
The one thing I love about this camera is the portability of it. I'm traveling so much and going on hikes, I don't have the space to carry a large DSLR camera in my bag. The a6300 has a lot of features packed into its small body and makes a great camera for amateurs and enthusiast alike. I shoot mostly video on it and the quality coming from it has been amazing. The video quality is amazing
Yes there is rolling shutter. I don't twirl my camera around like all of the sample videos I see so there isn't much of a problem for me. The AF on a Ronin M makes it worth every penny spent. I was saving for the A7R II and I don't need one now. I have used this with the Shogun at 4K and can't tell any difference between the external and internal 4K quality in Resolve or Premiere Pro so I shoot all internal now.
