The truth about the a6000...
I recently purchased the sony a6000 and have been a long time a77 user. I love my a77 and especially the kit lens it came with while bulky it is extremely sharp. The a6000 is not the same, so if you are looking to replace a DSLR with a mirrorless let me say, "Don't do it!" Keep your DSLR and use the mirrorless as an add-on. Here is why the a DSLR performs better than a mirrorless. 1. Lense distortion and blurring at the edges of the image. On ve... Show More

old but great camera
i bought this camera mainly for photography. i purchased this with the 16-50 mm kit lens and so far i have been amazed with all the capabilities that this small camera has. this is a great buy for those for photography (new or experienced), as it is quite decently priced and has outstanding performances. before buying this camera i was a bit skeptical ( it was 3 years old) but i am happy to say that i am very pleased with this purchase. although ... Nice Sony Alpha A6000 Camera
Very good camera, I love purchase on BHPhotoVideo site. The package deal is perfect, as quality of product and additional accessories were perfectly what I was expecting. Even after couple of research I have found that the extra WATSON battery which comes with this deal is awesome as compared to other brands. also, to mentioned class 3 memory card is really good with fast access. Overall, perfect product to start photography!

Just buy it!
The Sony menu system takes a bit to get used to, if you are coming from a DSLR. And furthermore, the flush mounted buttons, and close tolerance wheels take a bit of fumbling to operate. You will go through at least 2x battery charges as compared a single DSLR battery. The Electronic View Finder, Direct Manual Focus (DMF), focus peaking, autofocus speed, 11 frames per second drive speed, and wifi connectivity (sharing images using Sony Play Memor... Show More

This camera is awesome!
The A6000 sees a low light scene very comparable to what your eyes see which is one of the best features of this camera. The Superior auto mode is absolutely fantastic for low light scenes. The camera very light weight, takes sharp images, and shoots excellent video. I like that I can use the view finder to shoot video rather than using the LCD screen. It is easier to keep the camera steady when hand holding it. (although you can use the LCD scre... Show More

Excellent camera
I am really happy with the quality of the pictures that this camera takes. My son in law is a professional photographer and is the one that recommended to purchase this camera. I completely love it.

Great image poor navigation
This camera has great still and movie images. However its menu system is a bit busy and time consuming to thumb through. The blacks are a bit too black. If I designed the camera it would fit the scroll dial on the top so thumb can access it. the white balance and focus mode would be accessed on the shooting menu asa pose to the "in camera menu. I like that it has white balance in kelvin and under water if into that.

Great Camera For the Price
This camera was purchased with a specific intent. Since I already own one Sony A6000 and have 2 lenses for it as well as a Leica 'R' Adapter I knew that it would do what I wanted it to do. It was purchased specifically because it has the ability to be hooked to my phone or my iPAD for composition and exposure. Since the camera will create a WiFi connection that can be hooked to the Sony Play Memories APP I can place the camera where it needs to be and products photographed quickly & easily.

Exceptional Camera
I have a Sony a65 and am getting tired of toting it around and wanted something smaller. I chose the a6000 because I don't do a lot of video and could not justify paying the higher prices for the 4K on the a6300 or a6500. From the moment I took my first shot with my a6000, I was very happy with it. The focus is so fast it is unbelievable. Since owning several Sonys, I was quite familiar with the menu system, just needed to get acquainted with the... Show More

A little early for a review, but...
I've only had the camera for a couple of weeks and the first week had no real opportunity to use it. However, after a week or so using it and getting familiar with it, I am very happy with it. The fast and accurate auto focusing is really good. The images are sharp and clear considering the capabilities of the kit lens. The lens is adequate and for the price I think it performs very well. Overall for the price I believe this camera is a great value. Lightweight and easy to take with you anywhere.

Setup has been impossible!
I (and many others) have found it impossible to display the OR code that allows the camera to connect to WiFi, or your mobile devices. or Sony! I spent four days on a trip after receiving it and was never able to succeed! Also, on-screen editing does not seem possible, but, then, I can't access a user manual because the OR Code Will Not Appear!

Good deal for a great camera
I previously owned a Sony NEX which doesn't have a view finder. I found it difficult to shoot using the LCD screen especially in very sunny condition. So I bought this A6000 because it has a viewfinder and and because it was on Black Friday sale. One thing I wasn't happy was that UPS just left the camera outside my door on day of delivery. Luckily nobody stole it. B&H should probably insist on shipping with signature confirmation. The camera itse... Show More

MY 2ND A6000
Bought this one to mount a Sigma 150-600 Sport and Sigma MC-11 in Canon EF to shoot BIF and wildlife in general. I bought my 1st A6000 about 18 months ago so I can also have a couple different lens handy when not using the Sport lens. I'm no techie and was able to figure out this camera relatively quick. It has great features, is light making for a good hiking/walk around camera. Does what I need it to do and battery life is great. I do not have issue with anything about this camera. For the money and features, the A6000 is a great camera for those looking to step up from the P&S game.

Sony Alpha vs Samsung NX
3yrs ago I bought a Samsung NX300 mirrorless camera. It was a great camera - and cool looking too. But this past summer it fried out and because Samsung has gotten out of photography, parts are no longer available. This fall we went to Europe for two weeks and I borrowed a Sony a6500 with a Zeiss lens. There are some things that I liked better on the NX but I have grown to enjoy the Alpha series. When I got home I bought an a6000 for 1/3 the pric... Show More

Perfect Size and Weight
The only reason why I am giving this camera a 4 instead of a 5 is this: I wish it had a zoom rocker under the shutter button like the A5100 has. With the A6000, one has to zoom via the lens zoom collar as opposed to a zoom rocker on the body. Other than that, I love this camera. I own a Nikon DSLR ... the D7500 with the 18-300 lens, which I use primarily for sports photography. It's not the kind of kit I would want to carry around all day, but wh... Show More

Not a DSLR, but a nice camera anyway
I purchased the Sony Alpha a6000 as a travel camera, something smaller and lighter than my dslr. With the 35mm prime lens, it takes great sharp photos with true colors. The 24 mp resolution is very nice. The control dial at the top makes switching modes easy. I like the electronic viewfinder and tilt screen. The manual that comes with it is ok, it describes the function of the buttons and dials but does not do much beyond that. For example, I had... Show More

Not good for low light
I had this camera for about a week, I took some shots in low light outdoors, the sun was not completely down. The photos even at ISO 400 look really grainy. I was shooting RAW, when I got home, I took a look at the photos in Lightroom, they where not usable. Maybe its operator error. I dont know, but I wish I wouldve done more research before purchasing this camera. Ill probably be selling it soon, since I cant return it.

Great camera
This Sony takes very sharp images with the kit lens. I bought the speedlight for it but found that I don't need it. The camera flash does the job. I love the video but you can't video for more than 30 minutes or the camera shuts down due to internal heat. Also, if you buy an additional battery be sure it's a Sony battery because the off brands don't last 15 minutes in the camera. I saw that someone complained about taking shots in low light. If y... Great Camera Package Except........
Still learning all the features of the A6000 which exceeds my expectations but you do need an advance course to harness all of its capabilities. The manual provided, if you can call it that, does not come close to explaining the features or operation of the camera. And Sony does not have a manual online. If you're doing anything more than point-and-shoot, you'll need to invest in a guide book. My only other criticism of the package (A6000 body,2 lenses, and accessory kit) is the camera bag. You can't fit everything in it and if you buy any other accessories, forget it.

70 years of searching for the best camera is over. this is it! ( for Me ). I s hoot candid portrats ; alot of perfromers in poor light. . It finds the light, and the color. the speed of the Autofocus is as fast as Human. . I am Pushing up into 5000ISO and it still absorbs every pour. I has taken to giving it to friends to shoot me! they have become instant experts. .

Great camera but LOUSY LENS
5* for camera and 1* for lens. I have owned this camera for 3+ years now and it is a great camera for street shooting. Unfortunately the same cannot be said about this lens which is very soft throughout its entire range of focal lengths. lens choices for the e mount are somewhat limited but I personally recommend some of the Sigma prime lenses. These are cheap and super sharp but are not telephoto. Still as they say, you are standing on your best telephoto!
