A mixed bag

Sony did so many things right with the a6000, I am blow away by their bad decisions. Let me get the bad stuff off my chest - there are plenty of reviews out there which sing the praises of the a6000.As far as the camera itself, the battery is underpowered and the battery compartment is just asking for a failure. Additionally, something as simple as the compartment locking when you close it would be nice - instead you have to manually slide the la... Show More

A LIGHT WEIGHT GOOD CAMERA

Jul 31, 2015

I like Sony Alpha a6000. It's a light weight camera. I have been using SLR pro cameras since 1970 but I like mirror less small cameras. I have Sony Alpha 3n and 5n. I use Sony 3n with legacy lenses and Sony 5n with telephoto lenses. It works great. But Alpha a6000 is fantastic camera with bells and whistles under $ . I took hundreds of sharp pictures with this camera. I use sigma 30mm DN which is faster than Sony 16-50mm kid lens especially in lo... Show More

Constantly Surprising

Jul 28, 2015

I took this camera on a trip, I am and ex-photographer starting to shoot again. This camera is the perfect for playing, it's an impressive piece of technology and so easy to use. Sometimes it's a little too helpful and you have to go on a hunt in order to fix it, it would help a lot if the manual gave actual descriptions.

Nice Camera with 2.0 Firmware Upgrade

Jul 28, 2015

I just upgraded to the Sony RX10II from the original and am loving it. My interim camera was/is the A6000. I went online and upgraded to the 2.0 Firmware (European site) not yet available in the U.S. at the time of this writing. The firmware upgrade allows for XAVC video @ 50mbps and other pluses. I must say with my Sony FE 28-70mm F 3.5-5.6 OSS it puts out superb video and stills. I will get the Sigma 60mm prime to go with it down the line. I st... Show More

Don't overlook this mini beast. I have had lots of fun with this camera and it is time to upgrade to the sony A7Rii... I started out using this camera just getting into photography... And..... GREAT CHOICE... Everyone i talk to goes right to Canon and Nikon.. and when i mention Sony they have a puzzling look on their face. The A6K is a fast, lite, and very agile like a leopard. perfect for walking around a Zoo or Park.. low light is not the greatest but does work very well for an inexpensive option.

Amazing, Fast Little Shooter

Jul 24, 2015

My wife and I run a wedding photography business and we picked this up for its lightweight body and AF speed. It has become a great addition to our kit. We have been very impressed with how light this camera really is compared to our other cameras (A99, A77, A7) and the AF quality just knocks our socks off. There are a few quirks, buttons are in different locations and there is no Audio input or headphone jack. With the latest firmware update to ... Show More

Great Travel Camera

Jul 22, 2015

Been using this product for about a month now on a motorcycle voyage across America and it has held up very well. I like the fact that it it is small and lightweight compared to my traveling companions DSLR. I'm not trying to be a pro photographer, just wanted a nice camera to take pictures of the cool things I see on my travels and this camera is perfect for that.

I intend to use it for travel and street photograhy. I like the size, wieght, and the features of this camera. I find that it is very noisey at 50000 iso but with that limitation I will work around it.

Awesome Camera

Jul 13, 2015

I love this camera! This was a replacement for my NEX-6 and is a worthy upgrade. It takes fantastic pictures and the new menu system is a huge improvement over the NEX-6. Just a few gripes but nothing I can't get over considering how much more camera I'm getting with this upgrade. First, the electronic viewfinder has a lower resolution than the NEX-6 but in truth, I can't even tell the difference. Second, there is no longer an elecronic level but... Show More

My second a6000!

Jul 8, 2015

My first a6000 is a chameleon--hardly ever with the same lens. I've learned so much about its capabilities, with both modern Sony and legacy lenses, that I feel I've become a better photographer. I do nature, street, people, and this 16-50mm lens is just right for most of them. The OSS is the best among my lenses, perfect for grab shots and waist-level shooting. The fold-out screen is still subtle enough that people don't know or don't care what ... Show More

I use the camera for travel photography and a backup camera for weddings. I like how compact it is and the quick focusing. I'm not a huge fan of the kit lens and Sony lenses in general but that's just me being picky.

Great camera

Jun 25, 2015

Amazing camera!!! Super compact, ultra-fast auto focus, bright and clear view finder. For the value, I find it to be the best camera. Its suitable for the laymen but has lots of pro features such as focus peeking, kelvin scale , etc. im really happy with its performance and size! The only downside is the short battery life. So a spare battery is a must in my opinion. Yes, would definitely buy it again!

Nice Focus

Jun 19, 2015

Bought this due to the hype of the quick focus. I have a 1 year old son, and taking picture of him is extremely difficult with my Canon DSLR. I so decided to pick up the Sony A6000, and boy, I tell you. GET IT! It worth it if you are looking for something lightweight, quick focus, and 11 fps...I just put the camera up to his face and just snap it with face recognition. And also best for videos as well...auto focus on it is so good. This camera so... Show More

Lightweight, love the features, however...

Jun 15, 2015

I bought the a6000 as a backup to my DSLR's. The camera is so light, and a pleasure to use. Controls make sense and image quality is terrific even at high ISOs. Unfortunately, the 16-50mm is soft at the edges. I've shot many test shots, stopping down to f/18 without showing much improvement. The Sony 55-210mm exhibits the same problem. Both lenses exhibit excellent center sharpness, but both are soft at the edges. The image stabilization in both lenses is nothing short of remarkable.

Great camera

Jun 7, 2015

I have had the Sony for about 3 weeks and I really like it. I bought Friedman's instruction book and then realized that I had not even touched the surface of what it will do. Some of the pros and cons depend on what lens you have. I have not invested in good lens yet. I'm sure that when I do I will be even more pleased. Battery life is not great. The weight of it takes some getting use to - very light..

Great camera for the amatuer photographer!

Jun 5, 2015

After a lot of research, I decided to purchase the Sony A6000 because it is compact, light-weight, and it takes outstanding photographs. For the size and weight, this camera will be great for me to take on backpacking trips. The battery life can be quite short if your taking a bunch of photos, so I would recommend purchasing at least one (1) extra battery for this camera. I also purchased the Sony 35mm f/1.8 OSS Alpha E-mount Prime Lens to accompany this camera and it is fantastic! The picture quality with this combination is outstanding! I highly recommend this camera.

The Alpha 6000 is to be Recommended

May 28, 2015

Freidman and Warner have written what remains the definitive book about the A6000 and I started reading it about a week before I got my hands on the camera itself. I'm still only about half way through my first read of the book and I have little doubt I'll read it again and again.
