When I received the drive, I tried to connect it to my laptop USB port via a quicklink HDD adapter. However my Dell Inspiron 15 laptop and Windows 10 were not able to detect the SSD. After a quick call to Samsung tech support, I found out that the problem could be caused by the controller on my quicklink adapter. How to use the Samsung SSD
There are two softwares that needs to be downloaded, Samsung Data Migration and Samsung Magician.(The little piece of paper with the SSD indicates the links). Great SSD and inexpensive
Samsung SSD has always been my choice. It's reliability and the Samsung Magician and Data Mogration software makes SSD swap a breeze and safe process. I used a USB3 to SATA connector for the migration when upgrading from my 250GB SSD.

Great Product Easy to Install and Best upgrade to my laptop
I recently upgraded my OS drive on my 8 year old PC using the Samsung EVO 860 1 TB drives. What a difference! The machine used to take five plus minutes to boot up. After the upgrade, I'm logging in 10 seconds & a cold start. Not only does the machine boot up faster, all the applications run faster. This made a huge improvement.

Great Product Easy Install
Extremely happy with the SSD drive. Installation was a breeze with the Samsung software available for free on their website. Cloning my old hard drive with about 500GB of data took 2 hours. Used for Steam Library
Replaced Seagate Hybrid HD for enhanced game loading and response (Assetto Corsa, Competizione, Project Cars/2, Rfactor/2 and Dirt Ralley). Significantly faster (almost 3x) initial load and shorter wait times for (3x-4x)individual level/car/track loads. Worth the price of $168 (no tax / free shipping) at the time. Older Asrock Z77, I7-3770k & GTX980TI system which does not support nvme.

Working perfectly, no troubles, great price.
As Samsung SSDs are considered the best, this is no exception. Had no troubles cloning a drive to this and then using this as the source/boot drive. I use free Aomei Backupper for cloning, straightforward and booted without adjustments. Be advised no cables nor software is provided, just a bare drive. You can not go wrong with this purchase as well as this seller.

Best upgrade to my desktop
Installing the SSD was very simple, find a spot inside the case and one screw hole and secured very nicely. PC was so slow in booting and starting up from a sleep. The disk drive light would be on for a very long time and it was very irritating waiting for the p/c tp pick up speed. Easy to clone
The proprietary cloning software from Samsung seals the deal. I wanted a clean install of Windows 10, but in the end did a clone for an old laptop. Don't wait and go SSD!

Problem yet to be determined
After replacement of the smaller Samsung 860 EVO SATA III 2.5, and Windows 10 crashed and now fails to find boot sector on drive. Multiple attempts to repair have resulted with inability to boot using Windows 10. Thus problem cause unresolved if it is Windows 10 problem or a defective drive.

Upgrade to an SSD
When I build my current computer two years ago, I could not afford to get an SSD as my boot drive. But now SSD drives have come down in price and I was able to make the switch. Purchasing the Samsung was the best choice as their data migration software made the change flawlessly. Now my computer boots up and my programs open 3-4x faster from the standard platter drive. I use that for my data now.

Pros: - Plenty of space to store a vast game library. - Fast game load times. - Easier cable management than multiple SSDs. - 500 MB/s reads and writes without Samsung Magician. - 4,000 MB/s reads and writes with Samsung Magician. - Overprovisioning in Samsung Magician helps with longevity. Cons: - Expensive - 40GB is not usable due to the overprovisioning in Samsung Magician.

My third 860
Fast, runs cool, and so far Samsung EVOs have been bulletproof for me. This is my third 860, and I have another five 850s still going strong after two years. If you use this as a replacement for a mechanical hard drive, prepare for a nice boost in system speed. And as usual, B&H is tops.
