Phil Jones PJB H-850
As good as it gets
I bought a pair of these for myself a month ago, and I have just taken delivery of another THREE pairs ... that's how highly I rate them. As a bass player, I have always been irritated at how difficult it is to hear the bass properly when playing mp3 files on the move. I have tried numerous top brands of buds, and right now I own headphones by Bose, Sony, Sennheiser, etc. From the very first time I used these PJB headphones I've been he... Show More

A long overdue product
The Phil Jones PJB H-850 headphones seem quite appealing on the surface; headphones tailored specifically for bass players who want to practice without disturbing anyone else, and they do just that. The sound quality is great and it really transfers the real tone of the bass. You don't get the projection you usually get with a cab, but it's a huge improvement on any off-the-shelf audio headphones you'll find. My only niggle with the sound is that... Show More

Great headphones
I basically bought the Phil Jones headphones for practising bass quietly with a Zoom B3 in my student housing. Despite the Headphones are bass accented they have a nice, well-balanced sound. In comparison to a Shure SRH440 the Phil Jones has a little bit less detail in the sound solution. Nevertheless it sounds good. Furthermore the Phil Jones is more comfortable to wear not only because of its lower weight. In addition I sometimes use the head... Show More

Great for bass guitar practice
I bought these specifically for practicing playing my four sting P Bass through my Genz Benze Shuttle 6.2 bass head. They work just fine. They handle the extra bass with ease when I engage the bass boost button on the Genz Benz bass head. They are pretty comfortable. I have also worn these on journeys, but find that after about 90 minutes, they do start to become uncomfortable on my head and ears, so have to take them off for a while, but this is... Show More

Very good type of headphones for bass guitar
The Phil Jones H-850 sounds great and is very compact and lightweight. The price-performance ratio is great, too. Phil Jones products are well known for kind of HiFi type of sounding. These headphones also. I really like to listen to my recordings with it. Furthermore, it gives me a good feeling like the speakers of my bass cabinet when I practice bass with it. I can't use an amp, so I need great headphones like this. The PJB H-850 is confortable... Show More

More than expected
I bought these headphones mainly for practicing my bass guitar. However, it seems they are very good for transcribing music too. It amazing how much detail you can hear with these headphones, bottom end included. They are no air moving phones, but precise tool for hearing everything that goes on. I did not expect such level of clarity. Please note, that these headphones good headphone amp, your ordinary smartphone output might not cut i... Show More

Great headphones for playing bass
This is the first headphones that I use for play bass and enjoy it. They are not superb, of course it is best play with an amp but when that is impossible this headphones do the job very well. In every time that I searched for some headphones for playing bass I was confronted with prices higher than some great small combos so I never bought any but when I saw this set with a good and fair price I decided to buy it right way! And hey no regrets! You can play in a 5 strings and use your effects at a good volume that the headphones keep it up very well. Best purchase that I made in years.

Great bass headphones
Great product. It serves well as a "regular" headphone, feels comfortable and produces excellent sound. I was interested in this product because I am a bass player, and since I needed new headphones I thought I might as well buy a set specifically designed for the lower registers. And I must say, it handles the low end very good. While it is a lightweight, it certainly seems to be sturdy. I've had it for almost 2 years, used it at home, on the road, at rehearsals, and it still looks as good as new. Five stars and worth every one of them.

Comfortable and well build but lacking in sound
I've been impressed by the quality of the Phil Jones Bass gear - from the packaging to the product. These headphones are no exception. They are lightweight and very comfortable to wear compared to my Audio-Technica ATH-M50 X. However, the sound quality doesn't compare to my ATH-M50 X. Where the Audio Technica sound is full and rich, The PJB's sound thin in comparison. While the bass is clear, there are other instruments and parts of the music that I can't hear while wearing these headphones.

DoA (Dead on Arrival)
On first use, the right earpiece makes no sound. Maybe I just got unlucky and got the outlier... I ask for a money-back so I can´t really evaluate the sound quality. Although I have read good reviews about the sound ... Although Phil Jones is not known for making headphones, they should ensure that their quality control is on par with the quality of their bass amps. The overall quality (sound excluded), although not bad, didn't felt superior. Lots of plastic... Feels fragile.

Best headphones for Bass Players
The Phil Jones PJB are a great pair of headphones for work or leisure. Great sound with nice fat meaty bass and very comfortable for long periods of use. Really flexible and can fold in to fit into neat compartments on gig bag. Highly recommend and the price is spot on for this quality product. 5 stars
