Good travel camera
The camera is small and weighs little compared to my old SLR (bought in 2008--so that's really old by todays's standards) and outperforms it in every respect except zoom capability. But I was happy enough with the zoom because I don't need to take a tripod along. The camera does very well on close-ups and has a magnifying function for manual focusing. It gets the exposure right even in difficult light situations. A few things that could be improv... Show More

Great point and shoot
I use this camera for everyday shooting and studio work. (images for a website) The canmera is easy to use and makes remarlably sharp images. I have owned Panasonics from the LX 5 to the LX 7 and now the LX 100 they are all excellent units. The LX100 just raises the banner. After owning a Nikon D750 and Sony A75r I realized that the Lumix is all the camera I really need.

terrific camera
Theimage quality is excellent, and it is especially good at high ISO. The controls are straightforward and easy to access. It means that you rarely have to dive into the menu, once you have set the camera up. The video is superb as well. It has 4K video, but I am content with the HD video, as it is easier to deal with and doesn't use nearly as much storage space.

Earns it's hype as photographers backup
This is my carry camera. When I am out and about I now always have this with me to catch that shot, or document a potential location where I need to visit with the heavy gear. I carry it in auto mode but when I have the time move to manual modes. I am impressed with the video quality. I get the best results when using a tripod with the camera.

The Best just got PERFECT
Although Panasonic considers this the upgrade and replacement for the LX7 it is way beyond that. I've had both the LX 5 and LX 7 and this LX100 takes point and shoot to the highest level of professional photography. Let me clarify one thing right off. I've read elsewhere that some feel this is not a pocketable camera. Well maybe for a pants pocket ( which I never put my camera in my pants pocket, it just feels too cumbersome) but it will fit in a... Show More

Great camera but with major design fault
All the great things people say about the LX100 are true...BUT...beware of what seems to be a major design fault. If it is turned on accidentally while in your jacket pocket (or any confined space) the lens extends relentlessly trying unsuccessfully to open all the way thus damaging the zoom mechanism permanently so that zooming makes a noise in future which is picked up by the mike! (Unlike the LX7 which senses resistanmce, like when the lens ca... Show More

The perfect camera for research abroad
For many years I have been looking for a small, compact camera that delivers excellent images, and has all of the controls I need. I grew up using Leica M4 and M6, and I miss the shutter and aperture controls. I need a good camera, not fancy jewelry. The DMC-LX 100 gives me both shutter speed controls next to the shutter button, and aperture controls on the lens barrel. If I am photographing objects that are moving fast, I can use the in-camera c... Show More

The Best Just Got Better
Panasonic considers this their newest upgrade from the LX7 but it is WAY more than that. I just replaced my LX7 ( which I loved, especially that fast lens) with this power house LX100 and I am glad I did. This is no longer a point and shoot but a photographers camera. Yes you have your basic P and IA settings but now you have simple control over Shutter Speeds, f stops and Exposure Compensation all located on dials and the lens barrel. The 4/3 si... Show More

Disappointment
I am a LONG time B&H customer and this purchase is a perfect example of why. It was defective in multiple ways and B&H returned it and took care of me. This camera is being touted as best in class across various sites, and maybe it is, but that was not my experience. I am long time Canon user and this camera was riddled with inconsistencies. The attached flash was not only an afterthought, it didn't work. The autofocus was slow as was the zoom. T... Show More

Great camera
Im so glad that I bought this camera instead of the RX100M3. Better low light, hotshoe for flash and accessories. Buttons control way better option than software controls. 4K looks great. overall this is a great future proof camera.

Best advanced compact for travel
I've been a user and a fan of Panasonic's Lumix LX line since the LX3. Had the LX5, LX7 and now the LX100, by far the absolute best of the lot. I've been using the LXs as my sole travel cameras since the LX3 and have never looked back to lugging a heavy FX DSLR (or a pair of Leicas in film times). The LXs have been on the outside of pocketable since the first one but they are light, fast and able. You can shoot almost anything at anytime with the... Show More

Coolest Compact
The Lumix LX100 is not small enough to fit in a typical pocket, but it is still small enough to easily carry in any small bag or in a small pouch on a belt. The small size makes it a little less than ideal for holding/handling and trails the Lumix GX7 in this regard. However, the physical controls are great, the menu system is clear and easy to figure out even without diving into the manual, and the fit and finish provides a quality feel. I find ... Show More

The Best in Enthusiast Compacts
The LX100 is not for everyone. It is most certainly directed to people who desire manual control and image quality in exchange for size. Now, don't get me wrong, this camera is small, not small enough to fit in some peoples pants pockets, but will definitely fit in anyone's jacket pocket. For the traveler, this camera cannot be beat. Its lightning fast focusing and fast lens will be a great asset in the day and night, but do not buy this camera i... Show More

Awesome little point and shoot
Being a professional photographer, I found myself wanting to carry a camera around with me everyday. However, My DSLR's are heavy, bulky and if I have my DSLR, I need ALL my lenses! This does not fit in my pocketbook and it's impractical for daily chores. So I first decided on my LX3 many years ago. Great camera with manual options and movie capabilities with a Leica lens! The zoom wasn't much but I carried it everywhere and was never without an ... Show More

Lumix DMC-LX100
Despite the fact that I had to send back the Lumix DMC-LX100 because the electronic view finder didn't work, I was nevertheless impressed with the camera and its image quality in the few shots I took. I also like the manual controls, with Lumix taking a welcome page from Fuji's X-series of cameras. I didn't use the camera long enough to test the lens flaring that some have encountered, but I suspect any of this may be taken care of by using the a... Show More

Finally! The perfect walk-around camera!
The new Lumix Lx100 is a welcome innovation. Walking around with this camera, I have everything I need for intimate portraits, wide landscapes, quick action shots, low-light scenery, and even super high-res 4K video. The Leica lens is incredible and quite a value here considering what an equivalent would costs as a separate item for a DSLR or M43 body. I switched from a Lumix GX7 with a Panny 20mm f1.7 in favor of this LX100, and I am happy with ... Show More

What a lens / sensor combination !
Traded up from a Canon Super Zoom (IS 50 series). Lost the zoom and articulating screen - but also the bulk and weight of the Canons. The Leica lense and sensor make up for the lack of zoom while the ability to control the camera with a smart phone or iPad (thanks to its built in WiFi hosting) mitigate the loss of articulation. Everything else, from 4k video, low light capabilities, panoramic fun, full old school camera controls are light years a... Show More

Just what I was looking for!
As a mom with three small children my big dslr (A Canon 6D) is just too big to pack around to document our day to day life. I was looking for a smaller, easy to use camera that I ccould just stick in my purse and always have with me. The Lumix LX100 is awesome! I love how easy it is to change shutter speed and aperture and the intelligent auto means that my husband can use it and still get great pictures as well.

The best point-and-shoot DSLR substitute
Finally a compact camera that is a capable D-SLR substitute! I own many DX sensor Nikon DSLRs, and I shoot with a trio of professional grade Nikon lenses that each cost north of a thousand dollars. My most frequently used setup is a D7100 with 17-55 f/2.8 lens. That's more than $ of camera and glass! Outstanding Point and Shoot for the Pro!
Replaced this for studio product shots. My Leica DLUX was stolen and opted to save the branding and focus on the product. This is an outstanding camera for both street shots and studio work. I would recommend it. Great in low light, simple to use. A tad bit heavy but a great addition to my lineup. A true Pro point and shoot.

Great New Camera - Dont miss this one!
This camera is a great travel camera as well as one for capturing family events. The pictures are razor sharp even at 12MP(obviously helped by no mirror shake), and it has phenomenal low light capabilities due to the fast lens and 4/3 sensor. Camera is small and light yet packs a powerhouse of features including full manual override and focusing. I took 2K video with this unit at night and it is sharp and doesn't show any grain. No 4K video yet but I will soon.
