Feature Rich Prosumer Camcorder, Perfect For The Price
Great: I bought this camera primarily for wedding videos. As a quick 'run and gun' camera it works great. The image stabilizer is a life saver. Images are crisp and bright. For the price this camera is exactly what I was looking for, a lightweight, feature rich prosumer camera (albeit at the lower end of the spectrum) Relay mode is fantastic. I had two separate cards with very different specs and sizes in the camera and it seamlessly moved from o... Show More

It a good compact camcorder
The Panasonic AG-AC30 is a good compact camcorder for its price. I have used this camcorder for almost 2 years now and I can tell you that unless you don't like small camcorders, this is a good option. It has reliable autofocus, a nice zoom range and a quality feel to it. My only dislike about this camcorder is it only good for field use. I have tried using this in the studio and for low-light situations, but it just can't keep up with my other c... Show More

Good camera for the price
I like this camera but there's a couple things that could be improved. The power cable is very short so when using the power cord instead of battery when camera is on a tripod I need to put the cylinder on a table so that it's not just hanging in the air. One other feature I would change is when the time/date stamp is on it's on the left hand side of the image so when the audio levels are showing on the monitor I can not see the time at the same ... Minor nitpicks
This is a terrific camera. Great image quality. Panasonic colors. Very good ergonomics. Lightweight. Great, clear viewfinder. Ok menu system. idiot-proof automatic settings. Huge zoom range. .mov edit easily on a Mac. Outstanding anti-shake. Great match with my GH2. This is pretty much the biggest bang you can get for your buck. Nitpicks (nothing major): built-in ND filter would have been nice. The screen is a tiny bit too small, but very clear. ... Show More

Continually Great
Lovely camera. Has a couple great upgrades from the previous version. No longer forced to record in AVCHD (thank god). You have 3 different options, though of course, they won't be as finely compressed and manageable as AVCHD, so have larger memory cards ready. The LED on front also is certainly just an easy win-over. Questionable change to outer and menu interface. Finding your way around the functions on the outside camera is certainly not as i... Okay for the Money
Shooting in 1080i 59.94, there was pixelation when zooming in and out. This was not apparent on the camera's flip out monitor, but was fully visible during playback on a pro monitor and when ingested into the NLE. There was no pixelation when shooting in 1080p. Manual iris and white balance was fairly clunky.. When you touch the white balance button, it immediately goes to black, so you can't see the correction occurring. It seems to do the correction properly, though I need to test it further under different lighting conditions. All in all, I would say it's an OK little camera for the money.

perfect for me
im a videographer who specializes in live music performance recordings. i record a LOT of bands. i had a few things i was looking for in a pro 1080 video recorder. excellent low light capability, xlr inputs with proper volume control, built in light, 2 chip recording, excellent picture quality, touch screen, etc. and this video camera nails all of the most important things i needed. it was also the only camera in this price range that had all those features. i highly recommend this unit if you shoot in low light situations and need good sound as well. it gets all the bases covered.

Great things come in small packages
I am using 2 AG-AC30's along with my AG-UX90 for IMAG work in a 350 seat live performance theater. We just did the Michael McDonald show and was very impressed how the smaller sensor in the AC30 was able to come close to the UX90's 1" sensor. Excellent low light performance, great range in the lens (20x optical) and the zooms are as smooth as butter. Focus Peaking, Zebra, manual color balance and color level tweaks make it possible to get a stellar live image on the house projection screens (via the Black Magic video switcher)

I Own Two
Lets keep it simple, at the AG-AC30s price point and component offerings, it does what its built to do capture clean imagery for OTC viewing and solid post-production editing. The AG-AC30 is extremely user friendly I own two and use them as A and B cameras for weddings, theater, corporate and social events, and instructional design videography. The camera is lightweight and packs enough presence so your audience and production peers know youre serious when you show up at an event for work.

Impressive little camera
I purchased two of these cameras for traveling to events where I need to shoot multi-cam. They are the perfect size and weight. The camera was easy to figure out and while I haven't used it extensively I do like it. Two things I don't like: the camera lens cover is loose. I'll find a way to attach it so I don't lose it. And the view finder is really tiny. But that's because it's a small camera. The quality is gorgeous. I'm really impressed with that and I love having the onboard light.

Great value but 1 flaw
I like this camcorder since it makes for a good #2 partner to my AG-UX90. However, I have one complaint - the image is a bit too soft for my liking - nowhere near as sharp as the UX90. Considering it is the same lens, I wonder why this should be? Also the absence of a few small features can get in the way, but what do I expect for this lower price? All in all a good machine!

AG-AC30 performs GREAT
We film about 800 sporting events a year with over 60% soccer for Clubs and Universities. We often use a Hi-Pol's to evaluate our vantage point. We have 4 older Panasonic HD cameras that we still you. The AG-AC30 preforms perfect for us. The new technology for the gain works very well keeping the lighting consistent when zooming X20 in a hurry for a jubilation.

Great investment
This is my first Pro Camera and I am really impressed with it!! I've done wedding videos for a few years now, and I really stepped up with this one. I have always loved Panasonic cameras. This camera performs great in low light and it has a good bright light on it. It's a great investment!

Going backwards?
I have 2 AG-AC90 camcorders from Panasonic. I ordered the AC30 and did not like the quality of the picture. No matter what I tried the picture was too soft for me. Is Panasonic going backwards in quality? I returned and am looking for something different.

I love this camera!!
This camera is easy to use, easy to carry around, and takes awesome video! I was able to learn how to use this camera in one day. I have been taking lots of video in different backgrounds, different speeds and have had great success with this camera.

Great camera for a prosumer
When I take in consideration these three characteristics: 1. Price 2. Prosumer level 3. Quality, I can say it's a great camera. If you can spend a little more, you'd certainly have a few better options. However, for this price it's a great buy.

VALUE FOR MONEY
The color profile is good. The functions are easily accessed. I love the feel of the buttons and the three rings on the lens. The zoom range is satisfying. The pull-out style of the LCD is cool. Many recording formats to choose from.

Love it, Love it, Love it!
Perfect for my second webcast camera - a perfect adjunct to my main cam (Pany UX90). The functions and the quality are so very similar, so no new learning curve. And the quality of the image is great as it is usually with Panasonic.

I would buy it again
Amazing little camera. No words to express my amaze with this camcorder. From the quality of the image through the intuitiveness of its operation, this is the Camera for those who don't want to spend more than its value.

Picture Quality is Soft
Ive used all brands of camcorders and by far the Panasonic has been the least impressive to me. Functionality wise, everything looks great and feels great but the quality of the picture honestly just stinks.
